Best, most progressive drama I have ever seen

Where do I even start with this? I'm head-over-heels in love with this show. When I read the summary I was really hesitant, because I thought it was going to be very difficult to watch because of the shallow messages and old-fashioned ideas it may send across. Boy, was I wrong! I have not watched a drama this progressive... ever! Not only did it have extremely body-positive messages, it also pointed out harmful many gender stereotypes throughout the series in a very subtle but pointed way. Overall I never felt like the show said that plastic surgery was a bad thing, and many times it was shown in a relatively positive light. What I really enjoyed though was that they never truly showed the female leads (Im Soo Hyun) face before she had the surgery, so they wouldn't be calling any specific facial features ugly.
The acting was also phenomenal. I am now completely in love with Cha Eun Woo's character. The kindness he displayed made me swoon! At times the female lead was a bit awkward which, for me, made it a tiny bit uncomfortable, but honestly, thats one of the only criticisms I have of this show.
However, I would 100% watch this drama again, and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good romance drama! I cannot get over how immensely progressive and beautiful the storyline of this drama is. This is a story not about forgiving others but forgiving yourself. It's a story not only about finding love in others, but about finding it within yourself. I really love that the last line was "who cares? do what you want"

This drama is not too different from your usual high school / college drama. It brings up things like friendships and dating morals, the societies view on beauty and sets a lot of emphasis on romance.

Content:
- Your usual pretty female lead with a sad back story and a reason to be bullied
- Your usual pretty second lead who is secretly on your "kill" list.
- Your usual pretty male lead who is untouchable to all girls except one.
- Scumbag men carelessly hitting on girls and valuing them by looks.
- Bullying.
- family matters
- beauty matters.
-Loads of cute, romantic but cliché moments.
- Average to low level acting.

This show comes at physical contact in a very reserved, awkward and intense kind of way. It will drag out the romance and have it frustrate you until the end. It doesn't go too deep into any serious matters but finishes off with some good messages. I didn't feel touched emotionally in any way so I would say this is a light watch for those who love romance and good looking people with some light conflict and drama.

ENJOY

My ID is Gangnam Beauty

First of all, I want to respond to the criticism surrounding this show. Many people claim that Cha Eun Woo is just another idol actor with good looks but no real talent, undeserving of lead roles. Others argue that Im Soo Hyang was too old for her character, while some felt the story moved too slowly and that the romance was immature.

I personally disagree with all these opinions. Cha Eun Woo proved that he is capable of strong acting. I’m not someone who usually overanalyzes performances, but the constant negativity made me watch him more closely. His character was calm, reserved, and emotionally distant, and he portrayed that personality convincingly. The subtle changes in his expressions revealed his inner thoughts, and his emotional development throughout the story felt natural and believable.

Im Soo Hyang was excellent in her role as well. Since her character undergoes plastic surgery and is meant to look more “mature” than her peers, her age never felt like an issue. She portrayed the character beautifully😌😌😌someone who appears confident and attractive on the outside but still struggles deeply with insecurity. It’s hard to imagine anyone else fitting the role better.

As for the rest of the criticism people will always find something to complain about🥺🥺

At its core, this drama tells the story of a girl who was bullied her entire childhood for her looks. Hoping to start over, she gets plastic surgery before college, believing it will change her life. However, she soon realizes that altering her appearance isn’t enough. True change comes from learning to accept herself and letting go of judging both herself and others based on appearance.

Most importantly, for me, the ending was nearly perfect. It had everything I look for in a drama finale, which doesn’t happen very often😌😌😌😌

A Masterpiece that not many can appreciate.

A masterpiece. One of the very few kdramas that does everything right. I can't believe this is so underrated.

I mean its understandable because not many can actually understand the concept. Because most of the comments down below are just pointing out those things as boring bad that actually make it more superior than other kdramas.

My one advice to you will be don't watch if you’re a kid. Go and watch True Beauty. That is also a great drama and it is a bit light hearted. And another reason to watch it is HAN SEO JUN!!! Lol

But this is actually made for a bit mature audience because otherwise you won't understand a lot of things. And you should really be accustomed with the Korean culture as well.

OMG just finished watching the last episode of this show. I can't believe it ended. I really loved the two main leads they made a great couple. I liked the ending wish it was longer though 10/10. For those wonder why soo ah is such a mean character you get to find out why she acted the way she is so I would recommend watching it. Through out the drama so ahh character really bothered me but when I found out why I didn't necessary like her still but it still gave you an idea what she went through. besides that I think all the cast did an amazing job and who doesn't love a happy ending!??! lol before I end my review help but talk about how adorable kyung soek is, it's unreal!

Wow…this show is every K-drama trope I hate chucked into one.

- the mean spiteful girl who causes trouble for the female lead
- the clueless female lead that ruins any potential chance she gets
- she just lets people walk all over her & also causes bs misunderstandings due to lack of communication
- seriously, why is her self confidence so low??
- and then all the family drama DRAMA

Omg I figured out what it reminded me of. It’s just like 'Kimi ni Todoke'!! Only Kazehaya is full of life and personality and Do Kyeong-seok is more brooding and standoffish. But both female leads Sawako and Mi-rae are both just as clueless and continually shoot themselves in the foot. Both are in situations where the feelings between their crushes are mutual and yet both of them choose to hurt their crush for no reason. Both girls have been bullied for their looks as well.

There is also the gorgeous sly ‘mean girl’ who is very cunning and fake and puts on a fake ‘cutesy’ personality to have everybody like her.

The show got slightly better after the couple got together at last. And I will also admit there were things I did like, despite all the cons

- other than the melodrama, was an easy-ish watch
- Kyeong-seok is not getting fooled by Su-a for one second, his eyes scream ‘get her away from me’ and I live for it
- Some funny moments I enjoyed
- Once canon, Kyeong-seok x Mi-rae were cute

On the whole, I’m glad I got to cross this drama off my list.

I started watching this drama because of Astro Cha Eun Woo and Kwak Dong Yeon...At first I thought it'll be like all other melodrama, but after watching two episodes it gives a glimpse of curiosity about the story like how it'll go....The actors are really giving their best.. Hats off to the whole casts and crews.. Especially the cute, innocent, lovely Kang Mirae..The director really explaining so nicely that being beauty is not everything and also the fact that the struggles of being outcasted because of one's looks, the thought of young teens and also lovely girl's out there in the every corners of the world.. Portrayal of characters are way too awesome!! and I give all the due respects to whole team of My ID Is Gangnam Beauty ???????? for giving such nice story for every dreams girls and guys ????.. A deep heartfelt message to anyone else out there please look into the heart and thoughts of one and get to know them by person.. Don't judge and give harshful comments to the lovely adorable guys and girls of one's lovely family??????...

Actually I'm not into movies or TV Series which are purely love stories. Why? Well, I just don't like it :-). I prefer adventure or fantasy films. And if you are going to ask me why I still watched this TV series spite of its plot? Well, my answer is ASTRO hehehe. :-) The main lead was a member of that KPOP group. I accidentally discovered them and even saw some of their craziness. When I found out that one of them can act, I started to plan watching it. Before doing so I decided to watch the trailer and after watching it I lost the interest of watching it again hahahaha but my friend assured me that it was a good TV series so in the end I ended up watching it and I finished watching it earlier this morning.
And my say to this TV series is...
Well, it was indeed a great TV series. The plot was brilliant. Yes, the story right away started with the plastic surgery scene which was the reason why the main lead became beautiful BUT the whole series did not wish to promote such act. In fact, for me the TV series promotes self confidence and awareness to everyone. Aside from good scenes, priceless acting skills and flawless storylines what made one film great was the lesson that it wanted to impart to all of its viewers. The love scenes were not that bold too. In fact the first kissing scene happened near the end, the reason why I endured watching a series with such theme (love stories).
The acting was great. When I first watched the trailer my remarks was, "the main lead don't have any emotions on his eyes" but my friend told me that he was just playing his role as a cold hearted man. And that made sense to me. I'm also familiar with the second lead. I saw one of his TV series when he was young. I'm not familiar with the main female lead though. I just want to persecute the villain more in this series. Hahahaha sorry but I have a revengeful mind that simply is my nature. :-) She deserved more suffering because of what she has done but I'm fine with how the series ended. :-)
What made this series remarkable really was the MESSAGE. As human beings we tend to judge one person's physical appearance simply because that is the first thing that we can see. What's wrong though is that, we tend to stop knowing them after disliking them physically.
It's a great film. No wonder it became a commercial success in their country. I'll give a 9/10 rating for this series. Watch it too. :-)

I love this drama. I didnt escaped any seen. Watched it all beginning to the end. This has everything that have in typical korean drama. Love triangle , villain girl, decent second male lead, parents story and all. Only difference is main female had a plastic surgery . Still they have manage to do the drama watchable way. Main female looks bit mature but it doesnt spoil the feeling of romance . My favourite character is main male lead. That is not because of his looks only he can act as well. He can express his feelings from his way. Second female lead is not a typical arrogant, rich, egotistical girl so I like it. I think that drama want to deliver the massage that beauty is not everything but personality and attitudes are the things we have to admire. But honestly say I didnt get or feel that massage throughout the drama still I enjoyed it very much and loved it.

This is the type of show ere the cast is good, but they made it be bad in many points...
Eun Woo, which is a really good actor, is pretty unexpressed and also the female lead wherein ''Graceful Family'' made a totally different role where she shows how good she is in acting.
The storyline basically revolves around bullying and how Koreans use plastic surgeries, putting the nation into one of the first places in the world where plastic surgeries are really used.
The second girl was annoying, I mean, I know is just for acting but she was really plain..
Many watched it only for Eun Woo, and i'm a part of this opeople, but sadly the story had a really good potential that faded like in three seconds...

I must say I was so pleasantly surprised of how this turned out. It really was a wholesome drama with themes of natural beauty, cosmetic surgery, loving yourself and loving others, and most of all mental health. The only obvious thing in the whole drama was that the female lead got her boyfriend (which I'm not upset about). The whole drama had amazing character development from the whole cast, especially Soo Ah and Mi Rae. I must say my most favorite character in the whole drama was the president of the class. She was humble, down to earth, listened to others, and made sure everyone was okay. She was basically the only character that was the least self involved, and I simply love her for that. She's my role model.

As for the college life, and life in general. I felt it was still to kdrama like (not reality) but at some moments I really got that connection to a situation of "wow I go through that alot in college as well"

I am someone that also appreciates well placed silence and music background, which is why I gave the music an ok score. For me it's either the music choice and placement is superb really adding depth to a situation or it's just there to dissuade awkward silence (Twilight saga anyone?) Anyway I really didn't feel like the OST added alot to the emotions in the drama.

I loved the acting, like I said before the character development was amazing in this story. Everyone went through some sort of change, even the male leads father. Except I found it too cheesy and obvious that he would confess to the divorced wife and she would reject him. I wish there would've been a little more character development from the little sister as well. She was alot in the middle of the drama going through problems, but then we see her super shortly in the end for like five seconds.

I would probably not watch the whole drama again, but just my favorite segments, basically whenever the male lead is totally and obviously in love with the female lead.
