After finishing every eps of the drama + reading comments about it, I suddenly feel like defending "The third charm".It definitely has a meaning for me. The plot, no matter how frustrating and "unreal" ppl claimed it had been, tbh I believe it was realistic enough. After all you can't be so sure about life occasions, can you? Even irl someone can be such foolish , selfish, annoying, stubborn, quick-tempered and contradictory like the main characters in love. That's why I'm telling you gonna feel it so much if you experienced it before, like me :). If the writer meant to entangle us watcher's feeling, they succeeded on me. Cuz no matter how much I want a happy ending, in the end it really makes sense that the characters chose their path like that. I won't reveal more of the plot, but I guarantee they all make sense, just not in a comfortable way! Although I won't rewatch it, it was bc the drama didn't make me cry even a drop of tear, but cause me a lot of thinking, so...not touching, but irritating. Our cast did well enough, but I'm especially prasing Seo Kang Joon, the look in his eyes conveys so much, just... killed me every time! All in all, rather than hating the drama, I'd say sometimes a small dose of twisted feeling is fine.

I can't even explain what I was feeling right after I finished the last episode. It was overwhelming, disappointing, and confusing at the same time.In this drama, we follow the unpredictable lives and interesting love story of Joon Young and Young Jae. The first half is adorable and swoon-worthy as it mostly focuses on the feelings of being in love for the first time and also the fights and make-ups in a relationship. I liked it because I have never understood how relationships work. Little did I know that everything is all about compromise. The second half blows my mind away as I didn't expect any of it. The drama suddenly changes its atmosphere from being romcom to melodrama and my heart is found in a ditch shredded into pieces. However, I notice that Young Jae always seems to be the one who faces hardships and struggles and Joon Young always ends up wandering every time they break up. I somehow wished the writer was fair in giving them hardships and recoveries from their broken hearts. I know it's for the sake of narration but it's just unfair on Young Jae's part. Nevertheless, everything is so realistic from the misunderstandings to the raw emotions of the characters.
The ending somehow felt right as Young Jae is still in the process healing and Joon Young might be confused about what he feels whether it's pity or love towards Young Jae. So I'm giving wishful thinking that after some time they will still end up being together.

Exceptional acting
The story starts out like an entertaining romance that fizzles, then picks up steam as they reunite years later. As the story progresses things fall apart and the romance inexplicably comes to an end, with each going their separate ways. it is frustrating to watch as things take a dark turn. The male lead remains a lovable charter throughout the drama, but the female lead does not. Both lead characters do a fine job playing very emotional roles, but the male lead is really exceptional at emoting his pain and suffering. His emotions project to the audience and are palpable to the point that I found myself tearing up several times through numerous episodes. His performance is the reason I rated it higher than most others. Truth be told, I did not want the male lead to reunite with his first love. Was this review helpful to you?

This kdrama got me hooked up on the first and second part. The actors have a very good chemistry. The story was light and appeared to be a romantic comedy. It made me smile, laugh and cry feeling all the love, the pain of breaking up and the joy of reconciling again. You can feel the sincerity of the main actor showing his deep love and feeling for the actress. I kinda got annoyed with the leading lady as there isn't much of a conflict, yet she always seemed so unhappy about everything. The story did not really established the rift between the two.The 3rd part went down the hill completely. The story turned 180 degrees as if you are watching a new series. Secondary leading lady came in with a very poor acting. It surprised me that the hairstylist got married with the plastic surgeon when in 1st and 2nd part, it was said he wasn't the reason from breaking up with his boyfriend. Then the story got deeper and darker -- she lost her child and ended a divorcee and became miserable. Though the writer wanted to convey her gaining hope and strength in the end, but really, she just became more pathetic. Of course, since the story was not able to connect with the 1st and 2nd part, you expect that the ending will not end well for the 2. They both ended separate ways with their dream life opposite of what they wanted before.
I would not rewatch this series. I thought this will be as good as the Something in the Rain, but just like that series, they were able to capture the audience on the first and 2nd part, but totally failed in the end.

I GLAD I DID THAT :) the 1st phase kinda plain for me but the 2nd & 3rd phase just blown me awayyy.. i dont expect any of it, its heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.. i keep thinking that "myb all these turn up events could happen in my life in the future, we nvr know cuz life is unpredictable"
this drama tells u how 2 person who got completely diff characters loved each other and try to be together despite their differences.. they act tried for 3 times, but instead of the title THE THIRD CHARMS i think its better be THE THREE CHARMS.. it sounds similar but its totally diff isnt?
i dont wanna give any spoiler about what happened,, but again i rarely give reviews, just wanna give this drama a JUSTICE :) i do think ppl who dont enjoy this just because they think its romcom or very light-weight tags.. and suddenly got slapped with all the tear wrecking emotions and heavy plot (the unexpected plot during the 3rd phase)
plus: the osts are amayzingggg 100% i still heard them till now.. loved all of them but my fav are perhaps we by jo sung mo, hee jae by onestar and with the season by kim yeon ji <3
lastlyyy.. The Third Charms actually deserves sooo much love, sooo sad it didnt happen :')

Very Dark And Metaphoric
i really believe the reviews and rating for the show is greatly exaggerated. this story shows growth through pain and in that way its very realistic! i love realism in dramas espicially romance ones. this show is NOT an fluffy romance, its an view of these two people life and their ups and downs. furthermore, i love how many metaphors and and symbolism this drama has. my favourite part was the message it gave of how you grow from your past experience to become an new version of yourself. its so true and i relate to that alot. one thing i didnt appreciate was the second pairings in the second half of the show. the woman he was going to marry was plain toxic and wanted to be the main character type of vibe. the man she married was too unstable for another marriage in my opinion. although this could of been easily avoided if the ml chased after the fl after their breakup, it shows life is truly unpredictable. i like the open ending but i would most definitely preferred if they got married as it would wrap the drama up nicely ! i would definitely reccomend this drama and i think you should give this an chance and watch it for its lessons and life teachings rather than an rom comWas this review helpful to you?

I was very hesitant because of bad commentsBut I guess I decided to watch it at the right time, because I like it. It’s not a typical happy end romantic drama. I guess some will find it very relatable, while others consider it not so good writing. I think this one is not for teens, as it is full of hard stuff like loosing your child, going through divorce or having a cancer….
Acting was excellent, which was expected considering the cast. My favourite actor with perfect eyes Seo Kang Joon. He just perfectly suits this charming nerdy guy, with a little bit tragic love story… and strong will)
The story shows different periods of life, hardships, like choosing your career at early age, when you are not sure what you want from life. Trying to build a career when you don’t have money. Searching for “true” love, when you don’t even know what it is. Being afraid of disappointing your parents and family, society and basically everyone around.
Someone said there is no character development. Well, I would disagree especially regarding ML. He was not a bad person to begin with, so there won’t be any villain to hero development. The development is more in how he becomes more mature. His dialogue with himself, from “I love you, and that should be enough for you” to “I hope you will be well even without me”. Letting go, when other person asks you, understanding yourself and accepting your feelings. Being a wholesome person when you are alone, and going your own way, instead of adjusting to someone. That was the development for me.
Regarding FL, I found her annoying sometimes. But again when watching this drama, I really could feel the dilemma between choosing what is right by you head or your heart. She had to go through a lot, and while I could relate to ML, happily I have never been through something she was through. In her storyline I really appreciated the depiction of divorce and her way though trauma. That is real life for a lot of people, but non-toxic divorce theme is not so popular with kdramas, which is frustrating because that is what happens in real life a lot, people just fall out of love.
In real life sometime life gets unexpected turns, people get hurt because of your actions, and you have to change your whole life. And this drama perfectly shows that you can love someone even if it hurts, and they are not “perfect” choice and you become more mature going through life hardships.
The ending is open. I usually hate open endings, because I like when stories are finished bad or good. However with this one… that seemed natural. And I am not sure if I want them to be together.
The ML can found someone more suitable for him. And FL… well she lost a child, and I don’t think she will be ready to get into serious relationship. They are just soulmates, who help each other live and that’s enough.
Overall I liked this drama, because it does not show the picture of “perfect” love story. And I would say for me the love story was not even the main story.
It is DEFINITELY not a watch for relaxing, and should be approached as something close to real life. And of course appreciating great acting skills and beautiful Seo Kang Joon.
Rewatch value for me is low because I don’t like rewatching “hard” dramas.

For the first time in my korean-drama watcher life, I want main character to be separated in the end. The female lead is way too cruel to Joon Young. Meanwhile, Joon Young seems to be so in love with her. My heart is tearing apart when she dumped Joon Young for the second time, when Joon Young wanted to propose her. I know she has a reason, but really as a normal couple you both should solve some problem together not dumped each other. I don't know why, I just really hate the female character so much, 'cause she is so mean to Joon Young. She dumped him easily over a silly reasons that can be solved if they talked each other deeply. I think this drama is too unrealistic if the ended up together, because Joon Young really deserve better than someone who don't give an effort to save their relationship Was this review helpful to you?

The Best Romance K-drama
Most people think this drama has a bad ending. At the first, when i only read some spoilers i have the same thought with them. But, after i watched the whole episodes my thought TOTALLY changed. This is the first romance drama that contain A LOT of moral value about realationship. The ending is also very reasonable&realistic, this drama teaches me happy ending of the realtionship isn't about 'together until the end'. Young Jae and Joon Young's decision not to return to a relationship was the most appropriate after unpleasant events occurred. RECOMMENDED!Was this review helpful to you?

I will say this drama in the start was great, I won't belittle it and say it was bad because it wasn't. I've watched alot of k-dramas and lately I've been feeling like I can't find anymore good one's and I'm still waiting for some of the ones I wanna watch to finish airing, so lately I've been on a dry run with k-dramas and c-dramas. but after having been on a dry run with some dramas and hesitating to either finish or start, this drama was one that I was immediately captivated with. The female and male lead were terrific together and their chemistry was clear which made my own heart flutter. Their development was great as well, the brothers story as well as her friends and his sister and friends relationship as well captivated me. It wasn't the usual drama where usually the tough person is the male and female is the weaker or more fluffy one (though I love dramas like that too) but this was different. I knew from the name third charm that they would break up twice and when I first saw the doctor I immediately predicted that he would be involved in the 2nd breakup. The moment the main leads got together the 2nd time I just kept anticipating the 2nd break up, and there's nothing wrong with that because I had faith that they would get back together by the end. What made me mad one was the introduction of the 2nd female and male lead who I felt had little to no relevance to the story as many of what was realized could've been realized without them. I as well never understood the significance of the female who became a superstar, after she called the fl poor her purpose seemed to have been served, but when they brought her in and added scenes where she confesses to the 2nd ml but then disappears and is never brought up again I just wondered why? But I let this go and continued cause I still liked the show but then they broke up which I get individual problems that if they hadn't come up then they would've came up at some point in time. Now what I don't get and can't get is why she married the 2nd ml, i saw dating coming yes but not marriage and a child especially after she told him she couldn't accept his heart and hadn't been swayed because of him, I felt that had gotten rid of that idea (the idea of them getting together) I get the ml dating the 2nd fl because it was after he broke up and it had been a while since their breakup and she then told him I like you - there was no established idea that he didn't like her, though we knew he couldn't love her at least as much as he loved young Jae. Then the total switch up for young Jae as a character was not really new her meloholic manner just got worse, she had always had sad things going on in her life. I'm just really mad about the marriage to the 2nd ml so many holes were left open why why why? I wondered as I tried to finish the show. drawing near to those last few episodes I started to get bored especially when her marriage to him was mentioned, I was confused and annoyed, and I felt like I didn't even want to watch the show anymore but I still held onto hope that they would get back together. But boy was I shook with the ending I was given. When I saw the wedding scene I thought dang looks like he will be marrying the 2nd lead I tried not to think in a fantastical manner but realistically, and realistically he would've gotten married to the 2nd lead or kept or tried out the relationship with the 1st lead again but I was surprised but happy to see her brother and her best friend get married, I guessed this sort of from the start, but I also didn't understand why she got cancer, it felt like it was just filler or some knuge for their relationship. But what made me mad was how the two main leads just walked away side by side as it was snowing like what. What am I supposed to make of this, at least some dramas even if I hate it distinguish whether or not they will get together or stay apart but their words were so open, their hands swinging right by each other almost touching. What why? Also the 2nd leads okay whats next for them, the ,the 2nd male lead was at the wedding, is that supposed to mean he is in good terms with her, if u introduce characters and say they are of importance to the story finish their stories. The only thing that made me happy besides her brother and her best friends relationship was his sister and his best friends relationship. Some other flaws include: many second characters were irrelevant as well as some scenes like why did her best friend go on a date with that one police officer, I thought they would do more with that, I even thought he would be the one she would end up with at first. There were just so many holes that weren't filled. I get what they were trying to show, a sort of opposites attract as many of the characters fell for their opposites, and for this it was shown well. Also why cooking, this passion for cooking should've been expanded more, he made a few home cooked meals okay and does that equate he wants to be a chef, many of his career choices were hinted at but never really expanded on besides his career as a cop which him leaving it also wasn't fully explained, if anything I thought he would go to the country and fix radios while working as a cop after breaking up with her, I mean everything he does seems to encircle her still so how is he escaping he dropped out of school and became a cop cause she said so he left being a cop cause they broke up, though he actually enjoyed the career, now he's flying off to New York why? As for the fl, Her career choice was explained in detail but nearing the end we were left hanging does she still want the same thing she said she wanted or did it change alittle. In trying to be a realistic drama it touched it, but by trying to somehow be as unpredictable as possible it edged passed it. All in all the drama was good, at first it was intriguing and it was fresh, but nearing the end I got bored and angry at what felt like unexplained fillers, and open end questions. Would I rewatch the drama no, I was expecting more from the ending, did this drama bring forth emotions from me yes, and that is what makes it good, I cried, more so towards the end with all the sad scenes it was just pilling on, I felt happiness, I felt angry, i felt anxious, and more. I do love the chemistry between the leads and if they ever act together again as leads best believe I will be watching, I kinda wish there will be a season 2, cause then the open end will not seem worthless, and I kinda wish there was a separate show for his sister and his friends relationship which though cute and one of my favorites in the show was severely lacking in exaplation and screen time. Okay that's it sorry for the rant ? Was this review helpful to you?
