THE ACTING IS TOP TIER
I unexpectedly really like this drama?? When i watch the first 3-4 episodes, I really can't stand this drama because the amount of the secondhand embarrassment i got from A-fei. He basically just run wherever tang-yi is and that's just embarrassing. I literally stopped watching it for solid 2 weeks. But then i give it another shot then boom? It's not that bad **after the development** (i don't see much development tho they basically just //go with it// and yeah)1. CHEMISTRY
I loveeeeee their chemistry. Especially the second couple! I love both couple but the second couple just *chef's kiss*
They're all look so comfortable with each other! I watch one video on youtube where they play some type of game? The game is very intimate like feeding each other with mouth and they all nailed it, chris and jake even held hands the whole round game and that's proving their chemistry on/off drama are very good.
2. ACTING
In this one I'm gonna only highlighted on Chris wu's acting. All actors are good but i just wanna talk about chris.
There's one scene where //his father// hugs him and he cried. THAT'S IT. HIS TEARSSSS HE DOESN'T EVEN BLINK, HE DOESN'T EVEN CHANGE HIS EXPRESSION BUT THE TEARS JUST FELL, JUST LIKE THAT. I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYONE DOING IT LIKE HIM. i really liked it really really liked it.
3. PLOT
I like how they manage to balancing the storyline and the skinships . Each of it is just enough. They manage to tell us about the story but also at the same time give us some love story. I like it i really like the balance. But of course there's still so many missing pieces. The police who killed Tang guo dong and LiZhen, how they get into it and what's the police captain contribution in it. About jack who betrays tang-yi? And that idk that another police who scolding A-fei in front of many people but he ends up the one who meet Jack and receive the hard disk? And pretty sure that chen wen hao is died right? I don't know 🤷🏼♀️
4. ENDING
Okay, about the ending. I'm 50:50 about it. In one side i like the way they don't forget about who they really are. Yes one is a mob, one is a police, and they have to abide the law. But in other side??? Like why just why? Why would they put tang-yi on jail???? I just- they can make it better but i guess this just fine then, really hope they gonna make the 2nd season because #freetangyi
5. KISSES
I'm shocked with how many kisses we got in this series. It's just a lot and yes the make out scene djshskshsj. I first thought that because this drama is enemy to lovers troop they are not gonna give us //many// kisses because yeah they wee //enemy// right? But i was wrong. The kisses are just 👌👌 and the fact that each kiss just so natural? There's no pressure at all, i just loved it.
My favorite kiss is when shorty kissed jack when he said "i'm hungry" djhsjs that's just it!!!
I forget to talk about the straight couple here. They don't have much story- i mean they don't tell us much about them so yeah, at least they know how to kiss?
Well, that's it for now. Might editing this later? Or not idk. And yes, i highly recommend this series.
This is a very very unprofessional review. All are based on my understanding and opinions so if there any wrong words, i apologize.

I should not have dropped this drama!!!!
It took me 2 years to watch this and I regretted not watching this before. The story really catched me up and I like it, the only thing that I don't understand is the ending like Where did Tang-yi go? Jack and Zhao Li an is the best couple for me I need more of them. Over all is good I have nothing to say. I was gonna make rate 7 points for the acting but their acting got me in the middle of the episode so put it on 9. I still recommend this drama even though it's not typical bl series that we used to watch it was more matured but it's still good to watch to.Was this review helpful to you?
10/10
The reason I loved this drama so much was majorly because of the storyline! I didnt see the ending coming which is very rare these days in my opinion. The storyline has the two main leads who are enemies because one runs a mob and the other is a police officer, but is so much more than that. The "mob boss" is trying to legitimize his business while dealing with personal loss and childhood trauma. While the police officer is a cute rash person who still is a bad-ass in a fight and confident enough to go for what he wants.
Theres much more but I wont spoil.
Acting/cast:
8/10
As much as I enjoyed the drama there were a few scenes that I found hard to watch due to unrealistic acting. (Some kiss scenes ect) BUT when they got it write it was amazing! Fight scenes, the flirting between side characters, sad scenes, and the last kiss scene were all superb.
Music:
7/10
There was nothing wrong with the music but when I finished the drama I couldn't recall any songs that played so that's why its a 7.
Rewatch value:
9/10
I would rewatch this in a heart beat. I really enjoyed how they portrayed the lgbt+ characters in the drama. There was no evil female fighting to split them because she couldn't accept their sexuality. At one point in the drama the best friend of one main lead defends his friends choice in partner saying they deserve the other regardless of gender. There was much more that I appriciated in that aspect which is why I'd rewatch it again and again.

The thrill of an action series
Can we have more action BL series in the future? At first, the idea of making a series based on an unusual romantic relationship between a gang leader and a police officer is really fascinating. Although I like the storyline, the initial actions of the main leads regarding the murder case that happened four years ago in the series failed to give the mystery more intriguing and hype. The balance of different genres plays an important role for making a notable series. The development of romance and mystery feels like they are competing in a race for the first place. Really, I couldn't care less on the romantic development of the main couple. Action and mystery are much more dominant than romance in this series. The chemistry of the main leads faltered a little bit in the early episodes. Fei's persistent actions annoyed the hell out of me. As the storyline progressed, their chemistry managed to stabilize romantically but not as consistent as the second leads' sweet and fluffy relationship.
Overall, I can still say that this series is worth the watch. Thrilling and captivating.

This is hands down my new favourite series. Personally I love these series with the job not always being the bad guys. I also love that feeling of overpower you get when watching 1 guy single handedly take down a whole team of guys. This is why the first scene in the first episode really drew me in. I don't really have much more to say, but if you haven't watched this, I'd really recommend you do. It's an incredible story with great actors and phenomenal music.
10/10 would watch again at any time.

Absolutely phenomenal ????
The HIStory Series keeps getting better and better ????
And now since Taiwan ???????? is officially free of homophobia (and proud first in the East), this allowed for such a beautiful story to surface without any fear of backing out.????
Coming back to the story, it is a mixed bag of action, thrill, suspense, romance, "steamy" moments ???? (oof is it hot in here or is it just me?????) and plot twists.????
The cast is excellent, very natural.????
The music could have been better but it is overshadowed by the rest anyway ????
I would definitely watch it many more times and do firmly believe that all those who watch it once will definitely watch many times over. If you haven't already...give it a go...it will be worth every second of your time.????????????????????

FROM BEING TRAPPED IN THE PAST TO BEING TRAPPED IN LOVE
Life is full of prisons... only you get to choose which ones you want to be trapped into. For Tang Yi and Shaofei, the prison is their past.
Tang Yi is the head of a gang and Meng shao fei a police officer by profession. Both of their worlds collide when both their mentors get murdered together mysteriously. For four years, Shaofei trails behind Tang Yi, hanging onto the belief that there is more to the story than what Tang Yi had told the police about the murder.
While Shaofei is hooked on unravelling the real truth and bringing justice, Tang Yi has only one motive - revenge.
As the story unravels, many shocking discoveries are made along the way. Both Shaofei and Tang Yi's world, the world of a gangster and a policeman keep colliding, bringing them closer and allowing them to see each other's lives in a completely different light.
Shaofei defies all the stereotypes. He is someone who can take a bullet with a smile on his face and never shies away from expressing how much love he has to give. Every time he is on screen, it lights up with hope and love. He holds onto the people he loves with all his might and is not afraid to jump in front of a gun for them, if needed. At times, he might come off as someone who is too clingy. But it's his that very quality that sets him apart, makes him even more endearing. He loves openly and fiercely. He never gives up on the things that he believes in. He is brave beyond anything.
Tang Yi, on the other hand is scared of loving too much. He has been hurt in the past and lost people he loved dearly. He struggles to open himself up, trust people, let them into his heart. But he is fiercely loyal too. He is trapped in the loop of vengeance and betrayal, but protects his people with all that he has left.
The chemistry between them is undoubtedly natural, as it not only stems from attraction but also shared grief and years of really knowing and understanding each other. When Shao Fei holds Tang Yi close, you can truly feel the depth of his love and how badly he wants to protect Tang Yi from all the pain. It makes sense, as the story progresses that only someone like Shaofei could love Tang Yi without holding back. Only Shaofei could pull him out of the trap of his own past and show him the love and light that exists around him.
The other two couples and their stories are equally good, well told and beautifully executed.
Zhao and Jack are adorable, to say the least. The way Jack looks at Zhao (his shorty) with puppy eyes, is definitely the cutest thing ever. They really bring back the light hearted goofiness to a story that is tragic and grim at times. Their scenes gave the perfect interlude to the continues shocking revelations and betrayals of characters.
The romance between Hong Ye and Dao Yi - at first felt a little odd. I could totally understand Dao Yi's inhibitions and his reasons to not accept Hong Ye's feelings even though he himself had feelings for her. Their story was given less screen time, and we don't really get to see the transition of Dao Yi's feelings but it still was well done. The constant turmoil of being ashamed of yourself for loving someone and still not being able to push her away, was something that was captured very beautifully in Dao Yi's character.
The story was captivating, which happens very rarely. I did come on board for the romance, but instead got a lot more than that. The drama, the emotional scenes, the grief of losing people you love, the regret of making certain choices in life, the feeling of home within a person - every aspect of this drama is worth pining over! And trust me, you won't regret a second of it!

One of my favourite kinds of stories
Preview: I assessed this series like this because there were some aspects that I like in general although some technical things weren't well managed.1-STORY: One of my favourite kinds of relationships is the one between a policeman and a criminal so when I read the plot of the series I decided to watch it. Also, the framework was interesting, so I wanted to know who killed Tang and Chen's girlfriend. The problems in the storyline are that firstly it is not really possible to have this kind of relationship (but this is a series and I can accept it), secondly the plot was a little bit confusing (I always appreciate storylines that are cryptic because I like to guess who the guilty one is but this one was too much enigmatic because we didn't have enough information to try to predict what happened 4 years before) and lastly a real policeman cannot act like Shao-fei did (doing what he wants so just continue following Tang-yi wherever he goes) but the rest of the police and mafia's world was well represented also thanks to the acting, in particular during the fight scenes.
2-ACTING: let's start with bad things: I disliked one of the side couples, the one composed by Jack and Zhao. I felt that their relationship wasn't realistic enough as much as the way they got together.
The story of the other side couple was canonic but I appreciated it because love stories between presidents and secretaries are one of my favourite stereotypes. The acting was also better than the first side couple.
My favourite couple was the main one because, as I said before, their kind of relationship is one of my favourite ones and due to their acting. While watching them I could imagine a real and healthy relationship. That was also because they kissed a lot of times: in my opinion, this helped to make it clear that their relationship was daily because kisses are a sign of privacy. I also adored their confessions: it was so simple! Shao-fei had no worries about confessing and neither had Tang-Yi after understanding that he was in love with the policeman (I love that this clear fact is obviously in contrast with the chaotic framework but let's forget for a minute that someone was trying to kill both of them). Another thing that made me fall for them is the completely different personalities of the two lovers (talking also about the individual part of the acting I noticed that Chris and Jack did a great job) that are complementary.
3-MUSIC: The ost was good enough. The music during the episodes was also a good support for the scenes.
4-RV: Tbh I have only rewatched a few of the scenes that were my favourite ones (I haven't counted the rewatch value in my final rating).
P.S. Am I the only one who is in love with the poster of the series? it summarized the contrast between the two principal characters (it can be noticed by the way they are dressed) and shows that the kind of situation in which they will meet is particular (one of the two is going to shoot the other). The pink background is just perfect!
Thank you for reading my review, hope you have found it useful and don't forget to use the #freetangyi ;)
