When the Camellia Blooms

동백꽃 필 무렵 ‧ Drama ‧ 2019
While When the Camellia Blooms is more of a romantic suspense and Terius Behind me a comedic spy thriller with very little romance, both shows have definitely some similarities. In both dramas:

+ the FL is a single mother
+ the ML gets really attached to the kids
+ the neighborhood plays an important part
+ there is a mystery - a huge conspiracy in TBM and a serial killer in WtCB.

I found it very similar with when the camilia blooms because it has:
- the same actress
- the same scenario about "serial killer"
- close friends of the female lead get hurt because of her and get involved with serial killer acts

It has some particular things in similar. At first, we were shown a corpse with the FL stuff they found with the body. This makes us wonder is that the FL or not? It's kinda angst like that. The ML love the FL very much that they ain't scared of anything, while the FL take some more time to be honest with their feelings. The thing is, camellia is bright and fluff and comedic also a murder mystery in modern era while youth of may is more mellow, tragic, and involve real history thats set in 80s.

- Main couple are both adults and live near each other
- Main couple have an awkward love story
- FL has a stalker/dark past
- ML is a police officer
- FL has rumors spread about her
The moods of these dramas are very similar and the vibe of the couple are very similar as well.

I think the vibes feel a little similar to When the Camellia Blooms, also both sceneries are very pretty!

If When the Camellia Blooms made you ache for ordinary resilience and unexpected love, A Virtuous Business offers another glimpse into people trying — quietly, stubbornly — to choose decency over despair.

Both honor the everyday bravery that often goes unseen.

If you believe kindness is a kind of rebellion, I gather their quiet victories on my profile.

If When the Camellia Blooms wrapped you in small-town tenderness and second chances, Lovers in Bloom will offer you another kind of healing:
police stations instead of cafes, slow glances instead of declarations, and love grown stubbornly between wounds.

For those who know love sometimes grows best in broken soil, I map their stories on my profile.

The sets are different, but both dramas have a good romance with some suspense and mystery going on.

ML likes FL first (this one actively chases after her tho) but both really REALLY like her.
Suburban/Small town setting
Same quirky humor
Serial killer after the female lead
Both these shows add some aspects of a thriller in the drama which juxtaposes the bright romantic tone the show presents itself as.
(Both shows are able to still stay light throughout it tho)

Both are sets in a rural area with strong independent female leads. Both also have murder mysteries with male lead as policeman who solve it with the help of female leads. And the villagers as the support system for the leads

In both Gong Hyo Jin plays a single mother and the performances of child actors are brilliant! Both have a picture of life in the small village/ country town near the ocean. Both have a great scenario and a bit odd and peculiar romance.

Reunion of former lovers. The almost perfect similarity with "LOVE YOU ENEMY" and that we have two eras: the past with their youth where they fell in love & their adult reunion. The atmosphere, the way it is filmed, even some lines are really close to LOVE YOU ENEMY

Same country vibe when a newbie moves into town and everyone initially rejects them until they later learn to accept and appreciate the newbie.

Both sets in a rural area. Both dramas also telling a story about a newcomer who’s having a hard time adjusting in the beginning. And then there’s a police officer as a main role in both dramas who falls in love with the newcomer.

1. Both are wholesome healing slice of life dramas
2. Story centered around a soft female lead who decides to take charge of her own life and to become a bit stronger
3. Different characters come together and ignite change in each other
4. Both are based in a small town rather than city-life
5. Two male leads after the same girl, one of which dated her for a long time but later breaks up (not a spoiler)
Although the ending of both is quite different and Camellia Blooms has a minor mystery/thriller touch to it too
