Nine Kilometers of Love

Surprise ending and not in a good way

I’m still saddened by the ending though I am happy I gave the drama a chance. I’m a big Li Ting Ting fan from Somewhere Only We Know and True Colours! I delayed watching 9km of Love as I perceived the drama would be about the love mis-adventures of pilots and flight attendants. Well, there was a bit of that but also deeper stories.

There were some very cute/funny scenes in the first couple of episodes. There were also some dark/depressing moments. I felt so bad for Meng Ran with the gambling father and her family’s poverty. There was the jerk pilot pursuing Meng who ended up being a good guy. The relationship between the older female pilot and younger male pilot was cute.

I enjoyed the slow developing romance between the ML and FL. It was a sad ending (a great ending if there was a season two). I appreciated the many well developed characters and thought the acting was superb. I enjoyed each episode and slowed my binge the last few episodes as I did not want the drama to end. I know I will rewatch the first two episodes and when they started dating. As for the rest of the drama...?

I thought the show was ok. They made sure to introduce all the characters and build the characters nicely. But halfway through the drama some of the characters were missing and the drama lost direction on continuing to buildup the relationship. It ended the drama only showing one of the supporting characters happy ending and Second Leads starting their relationship but nothing after that. At last, Main Leads didn't even end together. I see why this drama was rated so low but I didn’t like or dislike it. If they come with 2nd season then the drama might make sense.

I’m sorry folks, I tried to love this show; and was really trying to give this series a fair shot. But, the fathers non caring treatment of the son & the character of the annoying Cheng Cheng ruined this entire series for me. Half way through episode 4 I could not take her any more. (I feel like the writers were trying to make her out to be an annoying little sister type of character that would somehow become a love interest. My opinion: Rewrite the script for these two characters and reshoot it and maybe it could be a winner. The other characters worked well for me.

Boring female lead

Riley did a really great show acting, he literally carried the whole show, but the female lead was just boring. Her acting skills are terrible, she lucks emotions, and she is very stiff. Sis had the same expression throughout the whole show and her voice just got annoying. She even made me get bored of the show because the role did not suit her. I feel someone like Judy Qi would have made a better female lead.

The story line is great, but I had to drop the show because the female lead wasn’t it. I feel bad for Riley because he really did a great job and he also understood what he was doing.
