Rooftop Prince is one of those dramas that I like not because the story was good or anything (at least not in my opinion) but because of the sheer entertainment of it all. This drama made my day, it got me emotionally invested and I loved it. I was super impressed with Yoochun after Sungkyunkwan Scandal and then this drama.

I was watching King 2 Hearts and Rooftop Prince at the same time and I wad debating on which show I should do a review for and I ended up choosing Rooftop Prince since I just felt more things while watching it, though story wise and all of that King 2 Hearts is a bit better.

King 2 Hearts wasn't originally on my watch-list, because I thought it would be way too political for me but the cast won me over and I actually found the story intriguing. This drama on the other hand was on my to-watch-list ever since I saw the trailer and the poster for it, because it looked like it was going to be a hoot and it was.

I just knew this show would make me laugh and the trailer just gave of this really nice feeling and I just sort of knew that I would end up liking it. One of the best things about this drama is the humour of the show and the setting of it, since you can make so many jokes and funny scenes with people who come into the 21st century from the past. That really is the charm of the show, as well as the cute characters.

There were a lot of things that you just knew Rooftop Prince would make a joke out of, like the toilet and the spotlights and all of that, but they also just used so many other jokes that you sort of only notice if you have watched some period dramas (I think) or know even just a bit about it, like how the talked, and so on,and I just found that so well done. It had be rolling on the floor with laughter.

Rooftop Prince really made my weeks a bit brighter and I just want to thank it for that, in a way. The main couple was also very cute and shippable. The main story could have been a bit better though. The Joseon mystery was such an interesting set-up but I feel like it sort of fell flat and it got a bit dragged out or something.

The story about the family and the company and Tae Moo and Se Na and their whole revenge thing or whatever that was about was so badly done and some of it was such a filler and it got a bit annoying from time to time. I didn’t really care and it was quite dull and not that original imho so that makes me lower my praises for this drama a lot, even if I enjoyed it for the most part or pieces of it.

In King 2 Hearts for example I liked the politics a lot, probably because a lot it was about that and also because it was written well into the story and it sort of made sense (at least to me) but this company, family stuff just bored me to death, because a lot of it was just a filler and to make a bit more conflict in the story. It was sometimes cute but that was about it.

I did however like how the story dealt with the reincarnation and all of that stuff and I found that to be quite interesting, like you become thing type of person because you did this and that in your past life and all of that. And I felt like it was used quite well with tying up the story.

So yeah, like I said, the main charm of the drama was the comedy and the rom-com elements of it, since I enjoyed the main couple a lot. The OT5 was super cute together and I sort of could just watch a drama about them all learning how to fit into the 21st century and all of that. I could take 20 episode of that kind of cuteness, even if it would have been a total fluff or even more of a fluff than it already is.

So the entertainment factor of the drama was totally there for me, as I sort of expected but I did not think I would get as emotionally connected to the story and the characters as I ended up doing. I didn’t just find it funny and cute and I didn’t just laugh over it. I also cried so much towards the end of it and that is what I look for in anything. Make me care show and preferably, make me care so much that I will cry. I am a sucker for those kinds of things.

Honestly, I was a bit skeptical when I first started watching this drama. It was hilarious, fun, romantic and it was all too good to be true. I figured that like most dramas, it'd all have to come to an end and get serious and drag us so far away from the way we felt in the beginning it'd be like watching a different drama all together. I was wrong. There is nothing wrong with this drama; except that it could've lasted longer - you know, like forever. The chemistry in this drama is just too good to be true, and I honestly want to see Yoochun & Ji Min together in another drama. It'd be perfect

The cast, in every aspect was unforgettable. I felt so much for our secondary characters; The heart break and the good times. I even thought I felt a little bit for the evil duo. They're all EXCELLENT at what they do and sold us the story. Perfectly. Oh & the soundtrack is one of the best of the year, been on repeat all week tbqh. Good going drama, now I'm going to hold every drama this year up to your standards.

I really like this drama. There are lots of things that I like about it but mostly because it is so funny, sad, romantic, and the story line is pretty good... and the actor, Micky, I think he's actually very good. I start crying, then I laugh like crazy, then I'm totally angry, so many emotions are like mixed in this. Totally enjoyable drama.
Retainers trio and their funny moments is definitely one of the reason I like this, I also enjoyed the music in this drama very much. But I wish the female lead was someone who looked younger than Micky...
It is highly recommended! Just watch and you'll be carried away = nice awesome drama!

Yes, I know, everyone is writing a review for this drama, but why not?! It was a good drama that deserves a good review, and if that good review just so happens to be 10 good reviews, that's alright as well! So, this drama was amazing from the get go. The storyline is unique. The whole idea of time travel and reincarnation, and all that good stuff, makes for a highly interesting story, and it continued to make an interesting story until the very last moment. This drama was well written. There were a few times where things were unclear, mostly toward the end of the drama, that needed better explanation, but even then, the writing was handled well. The characters in this drama were exceptional. The actors who portrayed the bad guys did a wonderful job. The characters were evil with a purpose. The audience could actually see that they had a reason to harbor so much hatred and be so selfish, they weren't just bad without a cause like in other dramas. The love between the two main characters was so endearing and sweet. You could actually feel the connection between the actors. They had great chemistry all the way through. The music has to be the most beautiful I have ever heard for a drama before. The songs were sweet and simple, but at the same time, held so much power. As wonderful as this drama is, it's not highly worth rewatching. It's worth rewatching a lot more than most dramas, but still, something about the ending of this drama dampened its rewatch credibility. Overall, this drama was wonderful, and highly enjoyable. There were funny moments, and sweet moments, and moments where you'll literally be wanting to jump into the drama and choke someone...yes, it's true, you'll have horrible thoughts towards a few particular characters. This drama had everything, and it's definitely worth watching. It's highly enjoyable and I'm so sad to see it end.

Time traveling to solve murder mystery is the one sentence story of this drama, liked the crowned prince. Park yun chun and ha ji min did their parts well. The crown prince while searching for the murderers of his crown princess ends up in bak ha's rooftop, 300 years later. An interesting love story line which keeps you on your toes, liked this drama. Even though at some point story is predictable, it is not dragging at all. Overall a good drama worth watching. Must say what an ending! aah!

This is one of the most touching stories I've seen. It's heartbreaking yet heartwarming, fun yet suspenseful. The acting from all characters is amazing.
At first, I was skeptical of casting Yoochun as Lee Gak, but now that I've seen it, I wouldn't have picked anyone else. And although there's great chemistry between the leads, I think the ones who take it away are Lee Gak's special 3-man team. They add bits of pep and adorableness that keep the drama from becoming too overwhelming. I personally loved Chi San's cheerfulness and Yong Sool's loyalty and compassion (and soft spot for Park Ha). The ending stunned me and is probably my favorite ending in a drama.
I also love that the story actually connects to a historical legend. It was well-thought-out and well-balanced. Not too much melodrama, yay!

Go watch it now.

This is my favorite drama yet! It was such a great story. It starts off with so much drama and it never lets up! It's funny, sad, interesting.I loved that everytime I predicted something the opposite would happen. The guy was never just a jerk to the girl, he was a jerk to everyone.:) The friends were hysterical! There was just something about this story that moved me so much yet at the same time it was funny too there was never a point where I felt too sad to watch it, it was more like let me enjoy it while I have it. It's a definite must watch!!!! Watch it now. Everything would have been a ten but one actor was just not good. you'll know it when you see it. The leads were AMAZING!

Usually a drama settles in by about the fifth episode. But in this drama, I reached Episode 5 and still had no clue what was going on and what direction the drama would take. This annoyed me.
Towards the end, the plot gets more melodramatic and improves vastly in my opinion. The theme of the mystery never got old and only got more intriguing. And the drama ties up with one heck of an ending. I loved it.

Romance
I always appreciate it when a heroine has to teach the hero. The couple's relationship isn't that great though. After all the trouble he puts her through and how rude he is to her, I didn't find his kind gestures that touching, but viewed them with the attitude that he owed her. She's quite weak towards any gentleness, but his cheap chivalry had me scoffing. I also unfortunately found their silly moments quite lame.

Park Ha
I like her face. I also like how she can intimidate the guys. When Lee Gak tries to get all high and mighty on her she just snaps at him and he responds with, “Yes Ma'am.”

Lee Gak
No complaints on the actor, who is phenomenal. I was amazed at his transformation between personalities. I just hated the character. I guess I have to keep reminding myself he was a Crown Prince and thinks he's all that. He continues with his historical voice which is quite annoying. But his moments of vulnerability are really satisfying.
He's very petty and conceited throughout the drama.
His best moments are when he's scaring the shit out of his cousin Tae Moo.
I also thought his angry acting was brilliant. And his menacing face is even better.

The Dudes
“Have you upset Park Ha...?”
“As a man, I believe that is a very pathetic move.”

I'm always a fan of squad goals. The servants are definitely one aspect of the drama that I enjoyed. They made me laugh a lot with their group mistakes and blind dedication to their prince. The thing they did best was when they were trying to learn something and their serious and synchronised attempts were so hilarious.
I think Yong Sul was my favourite.

Auntie Wang
This actress is always the bad guy in dramas so it was nice to see her in a bit of a different role. She's actually quite cute.

Sister
Se Na is a stereotypical bad egg. The drama goes way over the top to show what a terrible person she is. Why not just stamp “bad guy” on her forehead.
Although as the drama went on, I began to become more invested in her scenes. Her schemes, manipulation and ruthlessness, is pretty thrilling.
I also liked how Park Ha handled her and those glasses of water - he he he.

Music
It usually takes me a while to warm up to a soundtrack, but I loved this drama's music right from the start. Even the emotional music, which I usually find tacky to begin with struck a chord with me, which really enhanced my early viewing experience.
And there's this one soundtrack that every time I heard it, I really empathised with the Prince and forgave him for all his flaws because the music reminded me of his tragedy and his grief and his love for his wife.

This is probably the second best drama I've seen in my life.
(I'd say first but I am very faithful to Moon Embracing the Sun)
The drama takes you on an emotional roller-coaster, in every single episode. One second you're laughing, the next you're cursing (very very evil people), then you're laughing, crying, then crying while you laugh, or laughing while you cry. You'll most likely look like a loon to the outside world. (it's ok. It's ok.)

The last two episodes were better than the whole drama combined. Your eyes pop out of your face when you realize how everything and everyone was tied in together. Things that were right under your nose, but somehow you missed, become so clear. Your heart will ache, oh, it will ache. BUT...I'm writing this strictly nonspoilerishy for a reason.
I don't want to spoil it for anybody, even those ones who are curious and come here to see whether it's worth it or not. GO WATCH NOW.

the music... omo, the music. They play the right song at the right time.
Every single song had a special meaning, and the words and tone just pulled at your heart strings in a way that's indescribable. I wouldn't look up the songs before , because when they come, they'll hit your heart like a ton of bricks.

I think every single person in the cast, including the antagonists did an amazing job. I'm sure everybody hated the villains with a passion, and why? because they did an AMAZING job acting, as well as the good people too. Even those who had a tiny roles, or people that appeared for like 10 seconds, they did an amazing job too. I felt like I was there 100% of the time, I never felt like anything was over or underacted.

I know this drama is a bit slow in the beginning, but compared to most it isn't bad at all, AND it suddenly picks up and goes at 34895793857 miles an hour. It's worth second of your time, I will recommend this until the day I die... I was told NOT to watch it, and I'm SOSOSO happy that I decided to watch it.

EVERYBODY READING THIS... GO WATCH RIGHT NOW.
I gave this a 10/10 for everything, which I don't usually do.
That means something... 10 OUT OF 10.

I don't remember laughing this much in any K-Drama, I lived 4 seasons with this drama. It is definitely the best comedy romance K-Drama I have ever watched. Actually this was on my watch list for a long time but that photo of 4 guys in jump suits always turned me off.

I laughed so much that I had pains on my tummy while watching the drama..

There were times I was shedding tears.. but mostly laughing.

The way they landed on Bo Yoong's rooftop with their traditional outfits,
Nearly setting up fire on her flat.
They refused having their haircut for a long time, but after they had their hair cut, they turned into modern guys :))

The hard job was on the Park Yoo Chun as he was playing the double characters the opposite of each other, one is a Joseon Prince the other is a chaebol

One transported into 21th century while the other one is in a coma state, Prince Charming was looking at who killed his wife and searching for it

It took him long time to understand who he really loves, when our prince charming was young he's been asked about the girl who he wants to marry and he answered beautiful girl,

Boo Yong was arranged to marry our Prince Charming but her evil sister got jealous and scared her face with hot iron and instead of Boo Yong she married the Prince, but she was always in the palace, following Prince and her sister..

She's the clever and hard working one.

In the 21st century incarnation of the evil sister is still the same, evil..

A part of me wanted Lee Kak go back to Joseon era and live his life with the woman deserves him Boo Yong a part of me wanted him to stay here in the 21st century and be with Park Ha.

I adored the 4 Joseon era guys :)) they are the ones who always cracked me down.. Lee Min Ho with his childish sweetness, Choi Woo Suk with his greatness, Jung Suk Won with his martial art skills :))) I am gonna miss you all.

It has definitely rewatch value I will rewatch again around 6 mnths to a year

The OST was great it's on my spotify playlist but I think I'll remember the main song.

I wanted to kill strangle the evil sister and her boyfriend god knows how many times.

By the middle of the ep 19 my eyes already turned into red...

It's a remarkable drama....

It's both happy ending it's both not so happy ending....

Ah I feel the pain, right deeply....

Prepare your tissues, ready, set, go.....

I have actually guessed about Crown Princess's death after I have seen the car hit / river scene but i thought Crown Princess might have a secret lover or so..

Ah In the fruit shop / coffee shop if she had ever raised her head and looked....

He understood he's been loving the wrong girl... No Happy ending for our Joseon Prince Charming but so happy ending for our 21st century Joseon Prince Charming Chaebol..

It is gonna be a spoiler but we understood that Prince Charming remembers his past life...

Beautiful love story

The picture put me off for so long, and the explanation of the drama, as well. I don't care for period dramas, I find the costuming too distracting. However, the other night I couldn't come up with anything else I wanted to watch, so I decided to give this a try. This is one of those "stay up till 3am just to watch another episode to see what happens" dramas. Chemistry between the main characters was lovely. They were so beautiful together. This show had drama, romance, suspense, mystery, comedy - it had it all. I'm not a believer in reincarnation - I think that there are times when you watch shows that you have to totally suspend disbelief, and this was one of them, but it was so well done that I enjoyed it all. The connection between the past and the present tied in well. There were TRUE villains in this show - I don't like watching bad guys, but they were like watching a train wreck, you wanted to turn away, but you couldn't. I liked how the writers let the prince figure things out pretty quickly, so the audience wasn't way ahead of the game all the time. I ugly-cried through a number of episodes. I'll admit I'm a sucker for a good love story, and oh my gosh! When I got to episode 19 and it all looked pretty grim, I started to get a little worried. I was watching the timed comments during the last episode and a lot of people didn't feel this was a happy ending, but I think they just didn't get it. When he came into her juice shop, she didn't look up, because she was just working on auto pilot due to her grief. But you could tell it was the prince by the smile when he turned away and walked to the door. And when he met her at Namsan tower, you could tell by his posture that it was the prince. I think they had them meet there, rather than at the palace so there wouldn't be confusion as to whether he was really there, or if she was imagining it. When they changed him into his Joseon costume, that was just to verify that it was the prince. Whether he time-traveled back to her, or was reincarnated with his memories, the bottom line was that their love was so strong that they HAD to get back together. I cannot recommend this drama highly enough!
