Entertaining but lacking
Overall, a pretty entertaining show with some good visuals and action. Love the premise of the show, just wish it was executed differently. I haven't read the webtoon, so I'm reviewing solely the show itself.First off, I agree with many other people who think that adding the Imagine Dragons song to dramatic scenes was a little unfitting to say the least. Ruined some of the dramatic moments, but still, not that big of a deal for me. My problem was with the way they develop Song Kang's character, Hyun-su.
I was under the impression that Hyun-su was going to be the main character and have a lot of scenes. Unfortunately, with such a large ensemble cast, he was often pushed to the side in order to focus on the other 10 main characters (not to mention the side character's screentime). They gave Hyun-su a very sad and dramatic backstory that looked like it was going to develop as the show progressed, allowing him to overcome his demons and possibly utilize it to help others. Although he does help others intermittently throughout the show, he rarely gets any satisfying scenes where he saves the others and is often the one who is needing saving in the first place. Most of the main cast were given strong characters who are capable and have their moments to showcase their strengths, whereas Hyun-su didn't really get any satisfying moments (except at the very end).
Even at the end of the show (spoiler warning), I was expecting Hyun-su to do something dramatic and possibly sacrifice himself to save the others, showing them that he was a good person even if he was labeled a "monster". This doesn't really happen, and his climactic ending moments are overshadowed with the "sacrifice" of the other main character, Eun-hyeok. Speaking of, I don't understand the need for Eun-hyeok to even sacrifice himself in the first place. He could of gone with the others to safety, but instead he decided to sit in a room and die for no reason? I don't know, maybe I'm missing something (I was often confused by the plot). This just overshadowed Hyun-su's part that could have been so much more impactful.
In general, that is my biggest complaint about this show. I understand the need to showcase all of the characters in this large cast, but I feel like they could have done so much more with Song Kang's character. There was so much potential to develop him into something great, like having him transform at the end and sacrifice himself to save the others as a clear indication of him accepting himself and having grown as a person, but instead he just leaves. Not really a sacrifice, no recognition or satisfying ending, and doesn't even get to prove to the others who judged him that he was truly a good person and could control his inner demons. Even the whole relationship between Hyun-su and Eun-yu could have been more impactful at the very end if they didn't unnecessarily throw in Eun-hyeok's death.
Overall, decent story with some hard to follow plot progression and plotholes, great acting, questionable music choices, good effects and animations, good action, but with the unrecognized potential of the character of Hyun-su.

this is the new level monster story
From the rotten fish scene, I knew this one would be interesting.The monsters are scary and yet your eyes fixed on the amazing details that they have done. They are even beautiful to watch in a way.
Korean drama has raised the bar again because this is not just a simple fighting and running away from monsters kind of movie but with lots of human elements which make the story much more meaningful and impactful (like Train to Busan).
There is not a second to be bored and you will finish it in a day.

Very Overrated
The story is extremely slow. Nothing actually happens. the length could be restricted to max 3 episodes even with fillers.I think there was a vague concept of how unchecked human desires cause to become monsters (in various senses). But it was not touched upon, at all. There was close to no plot in the show. Everyone was just trying not to get killed. ML's backstory is touched upon a bit, we see the BEGINNING of a character arc towards the end of the show. The whole concept of why ML is special is because he literally has no thoughts, cause his mental health was already very bad, before the pandemic/acopolypse hit. So he doesnt have desires. So he cant turn into a monster. (like go crazy and kill other people)
And reading on the reviews of the following seasons, i gathered that s1 is actually one of the better seasons.
So im gonna stop here.
Theres nothing sweet about this home. It not even homely..
All the side characters (almost all) are killed. Even the ones with interesting backstories and possibilities of role in the story arc.

Don't bother with positive comments from webtoon fans, or the bad critics, this series is really cool.and it worth every second of your life
the ones who disliked it just didn't understand the series, or didn't even complete it, prob just a stupid brains,

just waiting for season 2 now, hopeful it will be amazing as season 1

Promising and popular, but can be slow at times
I started Sweet Home after hearing how popular it is and my friends' recommending it. I loved how different each monster was and the CG of how real it looked. The story is also quite unique as it does go into the depth of each of the character's personality and backstory.However, I wish that they answered more of the questions around "why?". I felt like I was confused most of the time in the drama and some episodes can be quite slow. The pacing is quite odd as it starts off with a great concept and then slows down until the last 2 episodes.
Still, the acting was really solid and so was that soundtrack, especially when a monster approached. I might check out the webtoon too.

Good Enough
Korean Drama 'Sweet Home' has awful CGI, but it makes up with the on-point atmosphere. The settings, the costumes, the music, the performances, everything is and feels perfect, as the group of residence is trying to survive. However, this season felt more like the introduction, as we start to get to know each character and bond with them, without, nevertheless, getting too deep into the mystery of what is happening and why and how to move forward. Still, this season sets strong foundations for those to come.In addition, everything is well constructed, with enough screen time for each character and each storyline. The pace is also perfect for the action element of the story. Finally, the performances were all quite emotional.
So, overall, 7 out of 10.

Is it a good show? Maybe. But something is off.
First of all, english isn't my mother language, but i hope everyone at least know what I mean. I think nowadays, almost all tv shows which have good ratings, just part of hype, in fact not all of them is really good. After watching 2 ep, this show is pure action, and i quickly noticed something is off, which is, the logical action of the character based on situation. Enter Lee eun-hyuk. This guy shares a room with his sister. One night, he told her he was going to work. At ground level, he found some occupants grouping together & they seem can't get out. Then a monster attack. Tell me, in your logic, what should the guy do? First he tries to help others to fend off the monster & close the door. Pretty logical. Then he groups up with other. He forbids anyone opening the door to leave. Ok. He goes to security room and watches the monitors. He sits there with others & planning what to do. Errr...wait, did you say he has a sister?Yep, that's exactly why i told you something is off with this tv show. The character doesn't act logically enough. Does he forget he has a sister up there? And when her sister finally goes downfloor, he just hands her a shirt for cover. No talk. Nothing.

Esse drama realmente conquistou meu coração, prendeu minha atenção todo o tempo desde sua abertura inicial até a musica do fechamento. Não desgrudei do sofá momento nenhum, foi realmente fácil de assisti, tudo desenrolar flui muito bem num ritmo bom que não te deixava ficar entediado.Com uma produção e direção boa e um roteiro bem interessante esse show te prende na história facilmente, os efeitos visuais também me agradaram muito, parecia que estava dentro de um vídeo game meu coração saltava ainda mais nas cenas de ação , cara realmente eletrizante, foi fácil imergir na trama. Tenho também que enaltecer a ost , pois contribuiu muito eu adorei essa trilha sonora.
Tudo é tão bem colocado nesses 10 episódios e mesmo que você não entenda a principio depois é explicado nos próximos episódios, digo isso pois teve alguns personagens com quais eu não gostava de primeira e não entendia suas ações mais logo o drama trata de mostrar a verdadeira historia por trás de determinada ação. Foi nesse ponto que me senti mais atraída pelas historias e seus personagens, pois eles eram complexos e interessantes no seu geral, gostei bem dos personagens, as atuações foram muito boas .
O Protagonista masculino deu um banho de atuação também, seu desenvolvimento ao longo dos episódios foi interessante de assistir , com seu passado pesado e com a nova situação na qual ele encontrava fez ele evoluir em diferentes modos. Gostei muito pois ele é aquele protagonista fora dos padrões. Só não dou nota 10 pois ainda quero mais respostas, estou no aguardo da segunda temporada.

Umas das melhores séries do gênero.
Magnetismo é uma boa palavra para descrever uma das emoções causadas pela serie. Além do risco de respingar sangue da tela no espectador.Com cenas fortes e violêntas conseguiram criar um enredo bem elaborado para o genero, poucas as brechas, um leve toque de humor dark. Essa serie única e apesar de já ser excesão, valia mais uma temporada. Apesar de fantasiosa e impactante a serie reflete sobre os monstros interiores dos seres humanos, com elenco e atuação maravilhoso e implacável essa é sem dúvida uma das melhores séries desse gênero.

Un huis clos monstrueusement angoissant...
Savoureux par son huis clos angoissant et son bestiaire exceptionnelle, Sweet Home est le parfait survival fantastique qui mêle le gore, l'effroi et les émotions. Une première saison redoutable et efficace.Sweet Home accroche dès le départ avec son atmosphère et ses décors. Des couleurs sales pour des couloirs encombrés. Des voisins malaisants envers lesquels le doute est persistant. Ou encore ce sentiment étrange qui plane au-dessus de la tête de Cha Hyun Soo. Tout nous pousse vers le gouffre de l'incertitude. L'enfer débarque sur Terre quinze minutes après le début du premier épisode.
Les personnages se dévoilent en rythme, jonglant entre comédie et terreur. Le casting est exceptionnel. Des personnages principaux aux secondaires. Les survivals mettent à rudes épreuves le mental des personnages, Sweet Home ne fait pas exception.
Lee Eung Bok nous offre tout un spectacle visuel, notamment le bestiaire qui est une pure réussite et des CGI très bonnes. Les créatures sont vilaines et repoussantes, intrigantes et curieuses, violentes et créatives, mais un renouveau dans le genre. Elles prennent vie pour offrir des scènes cauchemardesques, sublimées par une mise en scène soignée. Je ne connais pas le webtoon original, mais Sweet Home est pour moi l'un des rares bons projets produit par Netflix. Peut-être parce qu'à ce moment, le baron du streaming respectait encore le cinéma ?
Quoiqu'il en soit, cette première saison de Sweet Home s'amuse dans son décor post-apocalyptique avec ses démons extirpés tout droit des enfers tout en remettant en question la face cachée de l'Homme.

Não é sobre “lar doce lar”, é sobre sobrevivência, instinto e o que ainda nos torna humanos quando tudo desaba.“Sweet Home” é uma mistura rara e bem dosada de terror psicológico, ação apocalíptica e drama humano. A trama começa quando Cha Hyun Soo, um adolescente mergulhado em luto e solidão, se muda pra um prédio decadente. Logo depois, o mundo vira um caos: pessoas começam a se transformar em monstros — mas não monstros qualquer… monstros que refletem seus desejos mais profundos.
Isso mesmo: a transformação nasce do que há de mais íntimo e descontrolado em cada um. Quem tem obsessão por beleza vira uma criatura de carne e vaidade. Quem quer força, vira pura brutalidade. Quem sente abandono… se torna vazio.
E aí, o prédio vira um microcosmo de humanidade em colapso. Cada morador enfrenta o terror de fora e o colapso de dentro. Uns resistem, outros cedem. Uns protegem, outros enlouquecem. E no meio de tudo isso: a pergunta que não cala — o que nos torna monstros? O que ainda nos torna humanos?
A direção é cinematográfica, os efeitos visuais são de alto nível e a trilha sonora é tensão pura. Mas o mais forte mesmo é o roteiro filosófico disfarçado de apocalipse. Cada episódio é uma pancada emocional, onde medo, culpa, coragem e esperança disputam espaço com garras e sangue.

Sweet Home
Eu, particularmente, nunca fui fã de tramas do gênero de terror apocalíptico. Mas dei uma chance para este, já que meu ator favorito (alô Song Kang) protagoniza ele e também, queria me abrir para outros gêneros. Para mim, o destaque de Sweet Home é o desenvolvimento dos personagens e da história em si. Achei tudo bem construído e coerente. A narrativa introduz o conceito de desejos humanos manifestados como monstros, explorando a psique e a personalidade dos personagens em meio ao caos. No geral, acho que a série evoluiu ao longo de suas três temporadas, introduzindo novos elementos e personagens, mas nem sempre me senti presa à trama. Talvez duas temporadas pudessem ter sido suficientes, pois notei uma dificuldade em me conectar com a história em muitos momentos, dado pelo excesso de informações e acontecimentos. A ausência de personagens que eu gostava e acabaram não estando nas últimas temporadas também foi um impacto. Mesmo assim, acho que ela finalizou bem! É uma boa série para quem gosta ou quer começar a assistir o gênero pela perspectiva da TV asiática.Was this review helpful to you?
