Hana Kimi Episode 1 Reactions
Right off the bat this episode tells you what this series's strong points are and how it will present itself, as an adorable bubbly exploit with bright colors and even brighter colors. We open like all series with our Female protagonist Mizuki Ashiya although this time named Lu Rui Xi, she is introduced with her friend as she cuts off her hair, one thing about her is she is a bit more energetic than her Japanese and Korean counterparts. After the title sequence we see Rui Xi running to school worrying about being late, after running into another student she rushes into the classroom. It is here that we also see rubber face acting or the expressions are over exaggerated, some may find it annoying, I personally think it leads well to the silly tone of the series. After screwing up in talking with Zuo Yi Quan (Sano Izumi) her idol she goes to the bathroom to run into the energetic Jin Xiu Yi our series Nakatsu Shuichi who decided to show her around and this is when she learns that she has to share a room with Yi Quan. Getting to the room she gets off on the wrong foot with Yi Quan and learns he's given up high jumping whisc was the reason she came to the school. Once Yi Quan storms out she meets Liang Si Nan (Nanba Minami) a sophomore and the dorm supervisor he gives her a briefing on the rules and regulations of the dorm and we meet the feminine Li Cheng Yang (Nakao Senri) who takes an immediate disliking to Rui Xi due to his fear of her taking away his role as idol. Once Si Nan leaves and Jin Xiu decides to walk back to the dorm together, while they are walking she spots Yi Quan and leaves Jin Xui to find Yi Quan sleeping outside but he falls on her when she tries to wake him up, walking back to the Dorm. The next morning everyone is running is running for a physical test and we are introduced to Sima Shu (Kayashima Taiki) a student who has a tendency to scare people when talking about the spirits he can see. This is also where we learn Rui Xi is an extremely fast funner (and apparently makes hilarious faces when she runs). When she comes back to class many different clubs try to recruit her as the many different clubs chase her around trying to catch her. While hiding from the clubs she runs into Quan once more, he is also asleep. She hugs him and almost kisses him but runs away. When playing a game of Football with Xui yi and get knocked out by accident and is taken to the school nurse and is carried by Quan where he accidentally feels her breasts when he tries to carry her to the nurses office. The nurse Mei Tian is quick to discover Rui Xi's secret but does not tell the other boys. He asks her how she got in but Quan comes in saving her before she can respond. As they walk back both Quan wonders why she's pretending to be a boy while she wonders what to do with the doctor. The next day when walking to school Rui Xi sees a notice board with the picture of when Quan fell on top of her, punching the student in the face who took the picture she runs ino the nurse who confronts her once more. Xiu Yi is walking back with her when he accidentally grabs her hand and Rui Xi sees Quan with a girl and runs back to the Dorm with Yiu Yi in close pursuit. Rui Xi decides to use the dog as an excuse to stalk Quan to find out what's going on, it turns out that the girl that she though was going out with him was a girl Quan had protected and was hurt due to this he stopped jumping, while they are walking Rui Xi doesn't see a car coming and Quan saves her but he reveals to the audience that he's been avoiding her because he don't know how to act around a girl. The episode ends with Rui Xi going to confront the Nurse.
Short summary
This episode is a great first episode it introduces us to the cast, the acting styles and everything you need to know about. The cast presents it's self along with the show presents itself as colorful and fun/
Why you might like it:If you liked the Manga this has the fun and nonsensical feel to it along with the fun colors and energetic cast.
What you might not like: The Main character uses rubber face acting meaning that most and all emotions are over exaggerated this may get annoying for some due to most dramas trying a more subtle acting style, although it was something i was not accustomed to I do feel it fit the pot and the funny and energetic nature of the story.
