The King and CLOY are similar in sense that they are 2 completely different worlds, but still similar...I am redundant, I know.
In The King, there are 2 parallel worlds or universes...and the "King" himself is a king in his world, while on the other world, he is just as ordinary as you can get, not special at all.
This reminds me of the situation in CLOY where Seri is a very rich and respected woman in her "world" aka SoKor, while in NoKor, she is just a nobody and just plain lost, like the "king" felt in The King, Eternal Monarch.

Both female leads find themselves in a difficult situation until they meet a man that will supposedly save them. They find themselves in situations where they end up faking their love (DAYS - so that he will die) (CLOY - So that she doesn't die or get caught as a South Korean). Through this, they both bicker quite a bit but eventually gain feelings for each other. Although they start to like each other, they both do not realise. The male leads have both made the promise to keep her safe but when she sacrifices herself, they become quite frustrated and realise they may have feelings.

Both are fish out of water love stories. Both are about opposites attracting and having to overcome insurmountable odds in a dangerous world to be together. Both are fictionalizations of real worlds. Both are top 5 highest rated TVN shows & top 10 highest rated cable shows of all time at the time this recommendation was written.
