RELATIONSHIP:
If you are young and or don't have lots of actual experience in romance, then you'll like this drama. Because every little thing that matter in this drama relate to the characters' innocence. You can clearly see the character development along the way and every plot does make sense. The relationships between each character built naturally in a sweet manner. You can feel the friendship, romance, and family bond.
ART:
Talking about the art of this drama... Everything designed beautifully, A perfect fusion in Korean and modern culture in the setting, wardrobe, even the makeup. Notice the detail in every character and you will see how they present everything carefully. This certainly gives a "WOW" factor of a royal family. Not just rich, but royal. Not to mention, they spend A LOT OF MONEY on this drama, especially to make the castle setting.
It's a drama that worth watching, guys. If you haven't please give it a shot. Happy watching!

The acting part was outstanding, I cannot say anything bad about it because they delivered well. From the innocence of Shin Chae Kyung to the coldness of Shin Goon it was all believable. The greed and ambition of Yul and his mother. The quirky and innocent Queen Mother. The King and Queen. And all supporting cast did a terrific job.
Music was superb as well. It blend well with every situation.
This drama is worth to be watch again once in a while.
Overall, I rated this drama high because of the sensibility and the realities of life it shown. Even royals have a lot of troubles. We may see how happy they are but who knows it's all a facade. I just love this drama. This goes directly to my Instant Classic List.

Disappointing
It has a similar feel to Boys Over Flowers, but a bit better. Too much soap opera for my taste, which was disappointing because it started out really good! Was this review helpful to you?
A nice l story but too long
It's a nice story and the actors are great but the drama could be shorted. I went till the end and could not stop watching it but I had to accelerate some parts.Interesting thing in watching old dramas is how much Korea has developed their skills on making dramas. Also is interesting watching how much technology has developed in 17 years by appreciating their ear phones, cell phones, cars, TV's...
Because of this, it's very interesting to watch old dramas.

The fashion choices omg!
You forget that those hairstyles and clothes were everywhere 20 years ago! The fashion was more eye-catching than the actors' acting at times. The story's concept is interesting, the soundtrack good and the production of the show fitting for those times. But the acting was mediocre at best. Still, I get why back then this drama was very loved. The romantic cliches always "sell". I also have to point out that the ending was so unsatisfying and fell flat. Was this review helpful to you?

7.5/10 β Draggy in parts, but unforgettable as a classic royal romance.
Princess Hours is truly one of those iconic K-dramas that defined the mid-2000s era. The concept of an ordinary high school girl suddenly becoming a princess and navigating palace life felt like a fairy tale come to life. The chemistry between Shin (Ju Ji Hoon) and Chae Gyeong (Yoon Eun Hye) was slow to build, but thatβs what made it so rewardingβtheir awkward bickering, gradual trust, and eventual genuine love felt natural and heartwarming. Some of the most memorable scenes for me were their clumsy but cute moments in the palace, the comedic timing, and the way Chae Gyeongβs innocence brightened the otherwise strict royal atmosphere. On the downside, the drama definitely suffers from pacing issues. The middle episodes drag with too many repetitive misunderstandings, palace politics, and love triangle moments that could have been tighter. At times Shinβs cold personality felt frustrating, though it made his eventual growth and affection more impactful. The second male lead also added tension, but his storyline sometimes overshadowed the main romance.
Still, despite its flaws, Princess Hours is a nostalgic gem with beautiful costumes, a whimsical OST, and a romance that lingers even after all these years. If you love royal settings, slow-burn relationships, and that classic early K-drama charm, this is a must-watch.

"Goong" tells the story of a normal girl who finds herself in an arranged marriage with a real-life prince. Yes, it's not a historical drama, but a story where the royal family still exists.Chae Kyung is a strange girl who is engaged to Lee Shin, the cold prince who studies with her and also has a girlfriend named Hyo Rin. To top it off, we have Lee Yul, Lee Shin's cousin who falls in love with Chae Kyung... and then we have the recipe for a romantic comedy.
The drama didn't really grab me, especially Yoon Eun Hye's character Chae Kyung, she was too silly, like a child and I really didn't understand why two princes would fall in love with her. HAHAHA'
The romance is dragged out and the main characters only start a real romance basically at the end.
A positive point is the soundtrack, Howl & J - Maybe Love is an addictive song.

I think this is a classic but it's not amazing
This was the first Asian drama I've ever watched. So it does hold some sentimental value to me. However, despite that, I wouldn't consider it a great drama. It's also not bad though; it's entertaining enough and an easy watch. The story is very cliche and predictable it tends to be a bit slow in some parts. The romance is kinda confusing and a slow burn at least on the male leads front and they're horrible at communicating until closer to the end of the drama.
That being said, the acting is really good (in my opinion, although I can understand why some people would think differently) even for Eun Hye who made her acting debut in this drama. It is a classic drama that I think everyone should at least check out.

In my opinion there is room for improvement
From a love triangle to arson accusations. There is so much to unpack in this show. I would always tune in now and then because in my opinion it lasted way longer than it should have, but I always wanted to know what would happen in the end. Let me just tell you, if it was shorter I would definately come back and watch it every now and then. Maybe its just me and my impatience but I found myself racing through the episodes sometimes because of unecessary dialogue. I think this show had so many opportunities to make things better than extending the episodes, they could have made the storyline more compact but still conveyed their plot. The plot is amazing but it could have been interpreted in a better way without all the unecessary and enraging stuff in between. Was this review helpful to you?
Caution: It's overrated
For me this series is seriously overrated. The monarchy, the princess' family in-law, is evil, bully, sexist... The female lead initially strong, in the long middle of the story is very weak and possesive without reason (because the male lead was in love with another girl), just in the final minutes she have another short expression of strong personality. The male lead is extremely sexist, sober, careless about the female lead feelings, doesn't show love to her, in the most important moments he's not beside the princess... ... ...Was this review helpful to you?
