Someday or One Day

想見你 ‧ Drama ‧ 2019 - 2020
The year is 2019. The 27 year-old Huang Yu Xuan terribly misses her boyfriend Wang Quan Sheng, who has been missing for two years and is presumed dead. Her birthday wish for this year is to "see him." The year is 1998. The 17 year-old Chen Yun Ru is in love with a boy who doesn't feel the same way for her. Her birthday wish for this year is to "become the girl Li Zi Wei likes." One day, Huang Yu Xuan receives a walkman and a music cassette from an unknown person. She falls asleep listening to its songs and wakes up to see Wang Quan Sheng sitting by her side. She believes she has finally been reunited with her boyfriend, but there's a very big twist. She learns that she is no longer a 27-year-old woman but a high schooler named Chen Yun Ru, who is in the hospital recuperating from a head injury. And the man by her bedside is not her boyfriend after all, but a schoolmate named Li Zi Wei. Trapped in what appears to be the past, living another person's life, Chen Yun Ru's death in 1999 will be Huang Yu Xuan’s death if she doesn't figure out how the girl landed in the hospital. All the while, Li Zi Wei finds himself strangely drawn to the girl who used to be Chen Yun Ru, despite the fact that he knows his closest friend Mo Jun Jie has had a crush on her... Can true love find a way to bridge a seemingly insurmountable time gap?

Both dramas have a great cast and superb acting. Very sweet romance in both dramas, with a touch of sci-fi, and oh boy the male leads in both are to-die-for eye candy! Someday or One Day is a lot more serious at times and will make you cry more, but still has scenes that will make you laugh. These two dramas will keep you interested from start to finish and have very well-rounded stories.

In both, the main character time travels back and forth between past and present to find the murderer and prevent the death of one girl.

- Have time travel content
- Have twists
- Share same vibe (FLs look alike)
- Have some mystery/ tragic past/ blood scene (some psychologic)

Shares concept of time travel, and for some reason, felt a similar vibe even though SDOD has slightly more romance than N:NTTT

Both of them have similar plot i.e. time travelling, high school romance and going back to save their beloved one from a tragedy.

Both are romance based with the female and male lead going through series of catastrophic scenarios and different time scapes in order to find each other. Absolutely gripping complicated plots that keep you guessing but still have a well rounded conclusion. Heart wrenching and so lovable at the same time.

Each drama has a complex plot that intertwines the past and future. The time travel method varies though. Someday uses music and mind transfer between doppelgängers, while Meet Me uses a specific time and merged spaces. There’s the fun of a developing romance between leads, but also the mystery of whether actions in the past really can change/prevent events in the future. If you’re not afraid of having your heartstrings pulled, then go ahead. Also, both have a killer soundtrack.

The third collaboration between Kelly Chan and Aaron Kwok yields probably their best pairing, though not their best film by far. Luna Ng is a popular newspaper columnist who makes an enemy of DJ Cheung Yung when she attempts to block his purchase of a used vinyl record. Cheung Yung is a lover of old vinyl and uses them on his popular radio show, where he plays old tunes and sometimes gives ill-advised romantic advice. Luna wanted that record because it was a gift to her first love and the shock and dismay over seeing it in a used bin cause her to wish to possess it again. The two begin to spar, she in her column and he on his radio show.

Reminds of the complicated love story and how each decision leads to a change of direction. Beautiful portrayal of emotions is same.

While the premises are very different, the feel of it was similar.

You have the "life back then" aspect of it; you get to experience how life was back in 1998 in Taiwan. You also have the family and friend aspect of it; you get to see the friendships developing and turning into more, as well as the relationship with the family improving. As well as the heartfelt feelings between the leads, the patience and the love.

That being said, 1988 is purely a "slice of life" drama vs. Someday also has a time travel element, as well as a murder mystery added to it.

Both of these dramas are excellent, and highly recommended.

Emotional dramas. In both female lead travels to the past and try to prevent a tragedy from happening. In SOOD it is the death of a friend if I remember correctly, in TTEOTM it is the elimination of the realms by the hands of the devil god which she will be romantically involved with.
In both acting is amazing as well as OST , plot and chemistry.
