Eiichi was born as the eldest son of a farmer who raises silkworms and makes indigo balls in a Village (currently Fukaya City, Saitama Prefecture). He was more talkative than anyone else and always bothered adults. One day, Eiichi learns that a sinner has been sent to the clan's camp, and plans to sneak in with his cousin Kisaku who lives nearby. On the other hand, in Edo, there was talk of welcoming the son of Mito feudal lord Tokugawa Nariaki, Shichiromaro, to the Hitotsubashi family of Gosankyo in order to make him a candidate for the next shogun.
