The Grand Concubine finally wakes up, but Lu Zhen's initial happiness is snuffed out when she finds notes about "life sacrificial burial" among her things. Meanwhile, Liu Xu, terrified by Hu Rui's fate, decides to ally with the Empress Dowager. Lu Zhen fakes an injured leg, as a part of a plan by Minister Lou to get her transferred out of the Palace of Silence. The Grand Concubine dies through the Empress Dowager's machinations, but manages to see her grandson, the Emperor, one last time.
