Chinese historical dramas have become a joy to me. The costumes and settings are elaborate and beautiful. Legend of Lu Zhen added to the visual enjoyment with a good story and interesting characters. The story line is monotonous at times, because of the same "bad" people scheming against the same "good" people. However, the romance and chemistry between the characters is excellent. The best part of this drama is that all the women are strong and smart. The main men are great because the love they have for their women never waivers.

Zhao Zanilia is really pretty and I like the way she expresses herself. I think I will watch Boss and Me soon. Chen Xiao is also a good actor and really cute. I think they had great chemistry together. All of the acting is good.

I enjoyed the music.

It is too long to rewatch.

If you like strong women characters and great cinematography then I recommend this drama.

Really Poor Writing for legend of lu zhen

Its ok for a story to have sad episodes and crappy people, but this show is just one crapful of crap after another. No breaks no good things just crap crap crap. Why bother with any storyline when you just try to out do how bad you make the story. So if you enjoy torture, idiots, evil women left rampant making threats constantly well dive in.
Personally, i like a good storyline some sincerety some romance and intrigue but this story has absolutely no filter for conniving crap. I am done with my rant and on to watch some quality programming.

Phew, only watched this in 2020 and regretting that I didn’t discover this earlier!

I laughed and cried with this one. The pace of this drama is nice. Things are not rushed or dragged out too long. 59 episodes might sound a little lengthy and dreadful but I assure you that it is worth it.

I watched this because of Zhao Liying and she continues to live up to her ratings. I wanted to see how she fared in her first breakthrough drama and I am not disappointed at all.

She played every expression well. You watch her scared, love, trust and cry over the course of 50+ episodes and you grow with her character. She is believable because she doesn’t always win against the bad guys each round.

Chen Xiao also played her love interest nicely. He is loyal and they face conflicts like real couples do. They don’t have a cliche fairy tale perfect relationship. I like how he’s so protective and yet he respects her. He’s also such a hero and he sacrifice a lot for her.

All the other supporting characters are great too. The villains and the other maids.

I sincerely liked this drama but at the same time, I found a lot of missing points.

The story is very original. It talks about the inner palace, the emperor's harem. This harem is evocated plenty of time in the historical dramas but never this deeply. It was very interesting to see how everything was organized, how the hierarchy used to work etc.
Even though it is not that original anymore in Cdramas, I still really appreciated to see how our main female character was ambitious, clever and independent. Some people say she was way too kind and nice, but I do not agree. Well, actually I agree she was too nice but, it was one of the most important characteristic of her personality : the naive girl, living in this cruel and heartless palace. So it was necessaire.
The Bromance between Ah Zhan and Ah Yan really touched me. The love they have for each other is pure and I really appreciated watching it staying intact during the whole show.
The romance between Ah Zhen and Ah Zhan was awesome, I loved to see how the evolved : Ah Zhen being first very jealous and then, learning how to stay calmer, to make wise decisions etc. and Ah Zhan being over protective, becoming insane because Ah Zhen is dying but learning to give his woman more liberties. I also really liked how this couple was realistic, how their feelings become deeper with time, how they get to know each other better through the arguments and how they learn to tolerate each other, to understand each others' feelings.
Even though the romance between the Imperial Consort and the Emperor was not the main subject and not very developed, it was nice as well.
For the Emperor's mother, I was honestly quite disappointed. There are so many bad queen dowagers in Cdramas ! I feel like there's really an overdose ! And at the end of the show, this character becomes even more cliché and annoying. (But I really liked the actress !)

I felt like there were TOO MANY GIRLS in this drama. Normal fact since it takes place in the harem, but still. I'm not saying there were not enough handsome guys but it kinda made the drama a little unbalanced and I felt like there was something missing. It is really a shame.

For the ending, it is not sad nor happy. But the happy wins over the sad. So don't be afraid and go watch it !

It was globally a good show and I don't regret watching the 59 episodes. However, I don't think I would watch it again.

Despite the script having some flaws, the dynamics in which it was conducted made it interesting. The characters in the plot are not the most likeable, but the actors who played them brought each of them to life magnificently. The writers spared no trouble for their good characters and no punishment for the bad ones. The finale matches the small moments of happiness wrapped in a sea of sadness and uncertainty of a long life.
In terms of romance, it's not the best drama I've watched, but perhaps it's one of the best dramas in terms of 'intrigues'. Rarely in a drama is it possible to find so many hateful characters as in this one.
I chose to watch this drama, which is already quite old, exclusively because of the presence of Zhao Li Ying, and she did not disappoint. The actors' performances were spectacular, all the actors involved did a very, very good job.
The costumes were very well designed, at each stage of the protagonist's life the clothes were changed.
The soundtrack was underwhelming, because in this type of drama the soundtrack is usually an unforgettable complement, but in this drama, nothing very special.
The direction produced good scenes, the cinematography was good, it carried the drama without missing a beat, but the editing had many flaws. In the final scene, post-production made the scene not very visually pleasing.

Bİ LEGEND

I searched for his CD for a long time to watch the series. I was tempted to have a woman's success story. That's why I was wondering. I searched and I found. Of course I watched it a little late. But it wasn't worth watching. I regret. Why do you say? They turned a beautiful story into a vicious circle. We have a very smart, intelligent, resourceful girl, Lu Zhen, but she is prey to fools. It is constantly renewed. He is imprisoned. He is penalized. However, those who shamelessly attack him are not punished at all. Even if his innocence is proven, no one is punished. The goal is to hurt Lu Zhen. He struggled with a maid named Bi, almost until the end of the series. Even though Bi is with him, there is a mistake, but he is punished as if Lu Zhen made the mistake. Bi, who is assumed to have committed the same crime, is rewarded. Lu Zhen takes exams, struggles hard, gets promotion. The King allows his promotion. However, Bi is promoted by the head of the maids there. Despite being punished many times, this girl is not punished and her rank is not demoted. Everything he does gets away with it. Even Lu Zhen doesn't do anything to this girl. He acts as if he is a friend and plots, yet he doesn't care or he is too smart or doesn't understand. Such a fiction, such a scenario was made. I got angry while watching. I was hesitant about whether to watch it or not. I watched it out of curiosity. But I was told to the screenwriter and stopped. I was surprised how this person wrote scenarios with such logic and such a mind. But overall it's a good story. If true, I also found it admirable in terms of the value given to a woman in terms of Chinese History and history. Of course, we also watched sections from the palace life, which contains a lot of intrigue. Cruelty. The murder of many innocent people. Refuting in dungeons by throwing slanders. Humiliation. The destruction of even his dynasty. Or like being left to die in cold palaces. A ruthless and at the same time radiant life, intertwined. Love, love stories. Its reality is not very believable, but love is always there. A little or a lot. there was also love. It was too much, but whatever. Let's say maybe. The actors were very successful. So as a role, as a processing, as a shooting, I liked it very much. A great effort has been spent. That's why I voted for labor. As I said, I condemn the screenwriter who spoils the beautiful story with simple script mistakes and pushes it to meaninglessness. I won't watch again.

This is my first review so I hope to tell it a little bit clear. Firstly a great series. Everything that belongs in a historical drama is in it. The only thing that really disappointed me is that the protagonist was so terribly naive and sometimes just stupid .I love strong women but she was that in my eyes niet.De love is really good to feel between the main players. The bad people were really bad too ... otherwise the costumes were really beautiful. I recommend this series really but the downside is the stupidity of the protagonist. Music was very nice and I would sometimes look at it but not the whole series. I've kept going more of a series like the story of yanxi palace.

Typical never-ending schemes of the harem

LIKE

I roughly remembered all of the plots were set by Empress Lou and Xiao Huan Yun

How Lu Zhen based on her wits rose up to become the first female prime minister

DISLIKE

Slow and boring in between which made you want to fast forward the scenes

I'm not someone who would typically skip episodes unless the story is really bad..

MUSIC

Nothing to my liking

REWATCH VALUE

It doesn't matter if I re-watch or not

Guilty Pleasure!

One of the few Chinese dramas that seduced me to watch all existing episodes without fast forwarding. It has the typical palace intrigue, absurd slo mos, childish tantrum-loving male lead, miscommunication, clinging-to-the-door-frame-in-anguish type of scenes, and endless revenge plot. It's a mix of everything, but it somehow it works well? You are pulled into their world and feel immense empathy towards the main character to a point of feeling legitimately afraid for her future, despite the fact that you're actually still in episode 10-ish and there's still 40+ episodes where she should still be obviously alive and well, acting out her main character role. The title itself is LITERALLY Female Prime Minister, so why am I stressed? Why am I scared for her?

It's silly I know, but the suspense in this drama is real. In a Kdrama world, this will be called as a historical makjang. So set your expectations right: It's so overdramatic that it will become your peak guilty pleasure. But rest assured that you wouldn't be actually guilty about it alone, because a lot of people will join you.

Pure crap

I can't believe people giving this crap a 10 what a joke. I use to take MDL seriously with their ratings, well not anymore. These fake ratings destroy the credibility of this site. Basta!
Almost everyone wants to kill her out of petty jealousy, time after time she gets set up by cartoony evil b!tche$, everytime she needs to get rescued by others and even when the evil ones get caught , our Mary sue FL rescue them. Forgetting they were trying to kill, rape, torture, etc her. Let's forgive them, everyone deserve a second chance right? So what happened after she forgave her foes? They want her dead again but others will save her again and then she forgave them again and the joke continues haha . And people here says she is a strong character. No she is not, she is the dumbest FL I Ve ever seen. God I hate this piece of crap and everyone who gave this a 7 or more. Thank you for wasting my time with your fake ratings. Strong FL my a$$

Legend of Lu Zhen is a show you would enjoy during the process of watching, but would dislike it for its flaws after watching it. Writing this review I really wanted to rant about how bad it is, but then thought about the enjoyment I had while watching it. Despite its many flaws, it is still fun and interesting.

It is a very enjoyable historical drama. It is an idol drama by the way, so do not expect its tragedies, revenge, fighting, etc. are on a legendary level. It is more focused on romance, so if it is viewed seriously, there might be noticeable flaws in the plots, but if you are to keep in mind that it is an idol drama, it would be obvious that it is more serious than the majority of the idol dramas.

It's fun to see the lead girl push the others down with her wits, but it gets repetitive after a while. Whenever she succeeds in something, you'd always know she would fall soon. It is really predictable, but nevertheless entertaining. Even the romance gets predictable, but it is paradise for fans/shippers.

They tried too hard in the ending, but it is not too bad.
