Kokuto:
That was my mom too. She was, like you don't have to get married. She was more concerned about pushing me to get a good job. lol
But from some of the stories I heard later,
I think my mom had my grandparents pulling out her hair. lol!
It sounds like our mothers have the same idea. Mum just wanted me to do well at school so I could get myself gainfully employed and provide a stable life for myself. In that way, I will have options and not have to worry about needing to marry etc.
Did your grandparents pull her hair out for the advice that she gave you? :-)

No, that was all on dealing with their own kid, my mom. lol! Apparently she was ... strong willed, shall we say, even when she was young. I didn't really know my maternal grandparents as they passed when I was very young. I suspect my grandmother was ... strong willed also, from the stories my Mom told me about her. I know there's the stereotype of the submissive Asian woman, but most of the Okinawan women I've met are BOSS and very strong willed.
But yep, our moms sound very similar.

My mother was a total firecracker when she was young. She probably gave my grandma the most trouble out of her siblings, well, except for one particular uncle :-). She'd mellowed so much with age.
My grandmother was one tough cookie and one of the most genuinely kind and honourable people I know. She's the kind of person who would share her last cookie with a starving stranger. So many of my values are learned from watching the way that she lived her life and the way that she treated people.

@luv2bafangurl
Finally got my act together and completed my piece on Jing :-)

Thank you for letting me know, that you posted your essay already. You pretty much said everything I think about and more already, so I only write some things that came up to me after reading your post on the other thread.
I think Tan Jian Ci's movie, I MISS YOU, is doing pretty good. Yesterday it had 600,000 pre-sales, and today it has 1.2 million!

And at least two of his brands, Murad and DeBeers are offering movie viewing parties in various cities in China.

Oh that‘s good news. Hope this will be another great year for him !
Some more clips from I Miss You. It looks really sad. That OST by Karen Mok doesn't help :-(

Will he become sick? He's not going to die in this movie as well is he?
Kokuto:
Thank you!!
Yes. Every clip tears my heart out. So much angst.
But I'm very happy with how Tan Jian Ci just disappears in this role. I hope the story holds up.
Yes. I cannot see XL, Dr. Mo or even Shen Yi in this character.
Agree about the story needing to hold up. Without strong script, even the best acting won't be able to save the movie.

I haven’t visited this thread in days! T_T
My parents are the same, specially my mom. Very modern, too. Though I suspect she wouldn’t even have to say anything because back when I was very little, my Barbies were all worried about their various careers and I never once thought to ask for a Ken for them :)

Awww that’s so awesome!! I wish the success is great enough for them to show the movie outside of China! ❤️
