at the end of the trip, their Employment Agency is to go help make Andong hemp fabric. Hemp weaving is Korea's intangible cultural asset. A fabric used form more than a thousand years, and was preferred by knights and kings to wear. They dry out the hemp stalk and take them apart, make the thread and then ready for weaving. In Korea the use of marijuana is illegal, but using it for clothing is allowed. They sow the seeds, reap the plants during the summer time (June/July), then they burn the leaves in the presence of police and health officers. Very interesting history regarding Korea's most traditional clothe making.
