Started so well and the actors were excellent. The male lead could say so much with just his eyes – so! expressive, my god (he was so! attractive, wow). Zhao Lusi was great here, I think she will be a favorite of mine<3. The food looked so good, but due to all the drama in the last episodes we didn’t get to see much of that anymore ☹. The middle also was rather meh. While the drama started well, it was only okay overall. Entertaining, fun and very swoon worthy drama that I will rewatch some time for the stunning romance.

Perfect Romantic drama with amazing chemistry between leads

Despite the age difference the chemistry of the main lead couple was commendable .. there love/flirt scenes gave me butterflies.. <3 What I liked the most was the ML trusted her and treats her like his child and let her be herself.. and the FL was cute and independent and it was so sweet when she declined job offers bcz she wanted to cook for him .. like his uncle said she just cares about love <3 but in the end that Lu Zheng drama was a bit too much and I was hell annoyed by her 😂 and I didn't like the second lead couple and skipped all their parts .

This is my first drama of the ML and he is damn hot and amazing .. <3 and I have seen LuSi's dramas bfre but didn't like her much but this one changed my perception about her.. she was great too.. want to see more romantic drama of this beautiful couple ..

The ML is really know how to show his cuteness

First this drama make me laugh 5 episodes early.. their second met is really funny..
I like gap age between them.. the ML (Lujin) is really cool and mature.. well sometimes he also act like childish but he's really cute..
I know ML from heavenly sword and dragon sabre.. and I laugh when they mention about zhang wu ji and chaomin ^^ and is very sweet when Lujin said in his version doesn't have Zhou Zirou (you should watch if you haven't watch)

Dating in the kitchen make me saliva when she start to cook..I really want to try her food and cake..I think its really delicious because can make Lujin satisfied..but sadly later they focus is changed..because I never see her cook again..

About FL (Shenan) she's very cute and sweet..also she's very cheerful.. I think Lujin love her smile (beside her cooks)
But in 3 last episodes, she's not my favourite because she very naive and do something stupid..but the ending is good..
you just can skip if you think some scenes is annoying..
but overall this drama is good and nice to watch..

Loved the cuteness of the main couple

In general, I liked the series, but in the last chapters I was getting exasperated by the extreme innocence of the protagonist.

Although the male lead is not the one I would have chosen, I loved the tenderness of his character and the way he treated her. The age gap didn't matter to me.

Zhao Lu Si is, without a doubt, an excellent actress and convinces with her characters.

On the contrary, I hated the protagonist's 2 friends for almost the entire series. As the chapters went by, the guy improved a little.

The second couple didn't interest me at all, and I ended up skipping many of their scenes.

A Charming Start, but an Overcooked Ending — Mixed Feelings

As someone who doesn’t typically enjoy romantic comedy dramas, I went into Dating in the Kitchen (我, 喜欢你) with modest expectations — and to my surprise, the first two-thirds of the series really won me over.

The chemistry between the main characters is engaging, with a blend of quirky humor and genuinely heartfelt moments. Even the secondary character arcs added flavor and emotional depth, making the early episodes both entertaining and satisfying to watch.

However, the final stretch of the drama left me cold. The plot took a turn that felt overly dramatic and not entirely believable, as if conflict was stirred up simply for the sake of creating tension. The resolution tied everything up neatly — perhaps too neatly — in a way that might appeal to viewers looking for a feel-good ending, but for me, it felt rushed and emotionally unearned.

If you’re a fan of romantic comedies with a light-hearted vibe and a dash of melodrama, this might be just your cup of tea. I’d recommend trying the first 2–3 episodes — if you’re hooked, great! Just be prepared that the payoff at the end might feel more like something to “get through” than truly enjoy.

Cute couple but a draggy plot

I have to say the acting chops did not disappoint.! The FL was very good at what her role called for- cute, childish, innocent and immature. It is special talent when an actor plays with the viewers emotions using only a few words and the ML totally nailed this one! In fact his character development is my most favourite part, Lin Yu Shen captivated me throughout the entire series and will now look up his other projects.

I was disappointed with the story itself, there was nothing new and quite frankly I find it draggy especially in the later episodes. The plot for the love triangle was out of the blue, didn’t really do anything for the story except make me feel so sorry for the second lead, he was such a nice guy! This is a typical rich guy, mean mom, poor female cliche so if you hate this trope then you won’t like this one either. What I did like was how the main leads developed their feelings towards each other. I thought that dating in their house was unique and these two sure made it swoon-worthy,

I was really hoping to like this drama given the high ratings and the rave about the chemistry between the leads. I sort of do but not one that I would watch it again. Great OST though and fantastic cinematography especially of the food.

Fun, Short Drama

Pacing was slow at first, and I wasn't sure what to think of the ML since he really didn't speak much and the side characters also annoyed the hell out of me. The humour in the beginning also felt really forced, but I stuck it out because it usually takes a while for cdramas to grow on me - and tbh, I'm glad I did! There was an age difference between the two main characters, but their progression to affection towards each other felt very natural. The side characters also grew on me, which I guess really spoke to their growth in character throughout the series.

Also, one thing I really loved about this drama was how mature the ML was; sure, he gets jealous and petty, but when it really came down to it, he never doubted the FL and was always willing to apologize when he knew he was in the wrong.

This was only 24 episodes, so it didn't take me long to get through and pretty enjoyable to watch! Bonus: if you love food like me, you'll enjoy the pretty closeup shots of the food dishes too lol.

Edit: Forgot to mention ... how does she have so much time on her hands when she works as a chef at a 5-star hotel??

Dating in the kitchen or anywhere else

absolutely one of the best dramas and that says a lot because China is killing it. Korea needs to anti up, because they aren't coming close to what China is coming out with. Loved the FL and first time watching the ML and although his facial expression were dull sometimes, hers made up for it. Ying for Yang....Loved it. Although she was making me mad during the last two eps, I'm glad he was mature enough to see right through it. The Mother didn't get too much on my nerve, and the other triangle love didn't pissed me off too much. Once they saw no chance, they gave up.... Don't want to say anymore...Its a MUST WATCH.

Cute Story, Mouth Watering Food

When I got to Episode 6 where the ML fell asleep on FL's couch, I thought to myself "I've seen this plot before." I then googled this show and learned that it is a remake of the 2017 film "This is Not What I Expected" starring Takeshi Kaneshiro (an Asian heartthrob back in the 90's). Unlike the 1-½ hour film, this series was able to go in depth as to the background and personalities of all the major characters because of its length of 24 episodes. This made the show more comprehensible.

There was a lot of criticism in viewers' reviews of this series of the age difference between the two lead characters: he was 36 years old and she was 21 years old. In the original movie, he was 36 years old and she was 26-27 years old. The older female age made better sense, given the cooking experience of the female character. I believe the producers wanted Zhao Lusi for this series and made her character 21 years old to reflect the actress's actual age at the time of filming.

I liked the many references to modern western pop culture, such as Marvel's Avengers, Thanos and the Groot dolls in this series. Plus, the opening and ending songs were in English. It appears that the producers and writers want to appeal to an international global audience.

In the last episode, FL's speech to ML's mother was basically the same as the speech the FL said to ML's mother in Crazy Rich Asians at the mahjong parlor. The scenario was the same in both shows in that ML's rich mother initially did not approve of FL, but that last speech turned the mothers' opinion around and mothers then accepted the FLs.

The show also gave me a little Chinese history lesson. In Episode 19, ML's mother brought up Liu Bang and Xiang Yu to the FL. And later, ML questioned his mother as to whether she also mentioned those men's wives, Empress Lu and Consort Yu. I had to google those four historical figures to learn about them. I found that interesting.

I liked all the stars in the series, as they performed exceptionally well. The actor playing the ML, Lin Yu Shen, showed not only his serious dramatic side, but also his comedic side (making canned fruits and working in the food stall). I initially watched this show because I'm a fan of Zhao Lusi, after watching her in Love in the Galaxy and Who Rules the World. She is a great actress who can successfully take on dramatic roles as well as comedic roles.

The only complaint I have in the storyline is when FL goes against her fiance's advice and begins to hang out with ML's malicious younger brother around Episodes 21-23. What part of ML's statement to her to "keep your distance from Lu Zheng" in Episode 19 did she not understand??? To the actress's credit, Zhao Lusi posted a comment critical of her character's actions in this regard.

Nevertheless, I would watch this show again and recommend it to others, if only to view the magnificent gourmet dishes and cuisine.
