From Avoidance to Adoration: How a 2020 K-Drama Became a 10/10 Must-Watch After Four Years

When this K-drama was first released in 2020, I avoided it because I found it incredibly boring knowing who the culprit was from the start. However, four years later, I decided to give it a try as it was on my plan-to-watch list and had such a high rating. To my surprise, it turned out to be a 10/10 for me. The story was well-paced over all 16 episodes, and I could see the growth of the protagonist and his relationship with Cha Ji Won. The actor did an excellent job portraying the character, and the story flowed smoothly. I have nothing but praise for this drama.

Four years after its initial release, I finally decided to watch it, and I was pleasantly surprised. Despite knowing the culprit from the start, the drama managed to keep me engaged with its intricate plot and character development. Over the span of 16 episodes, the storyline was evenly distributed, ensuring there was never a dull moment. The growth of the protagonist was particularly well-done, showcasing a deep and evolving bond with Cha Ji Won.

The lead actor delivered a stellar performance, bringing depth and nuance to the character. His portrayal was compelling and authentic, making the character's journey believable and relatable. The chemistry between the lead characters was palpable, adding an emotional layer to the narrative that was both touching and intense.

In addition to the strong performances, the direction and writing were top-notch. The story was meticulously crafted, with each episode building upon the last, creating a cohesive and engaging viewing experience. The drama tackled complex themes and emotions, exploring the intricacies of relationships, trust, and redemption.

In conclusion, this K-drama exceeded my expectations in every way. It was a compelling, well-acted, and beautifully written series that kept me hooked from start to finish. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a drama that combines strong character development with a gripping storyline. For me, it's a definite 10/10.

Excellent cast with interesting plot.

I writing this review after watched this drama twice. It's really worth watching for my time. when i watching this second time my interested towards this drama keeps high. Even though it was second time i didn't skip any second of this drama. It's truly unpredictable that we can't imagine what happend to next.

Also what most interested to me do hyun soo and cha ji won's love.. because i wasn't very likable thriller genre. Also do hyun had antisocial personality desorder. I can't imagine how lee jun ki act for hyun soo's character. His acting here top notch. I liked his character. Also cha ji won character especially when hyun soo in the pool and almost lost his life. Cha jiwon cried like her life was in disaster. I really felt that moment. Especially their kiss scenes are also good. can't get over them.😩💗💗😭

My advice for you-: if you are kdrama fan you shouldn't miss this masterpiece.

THE BEST DRAMA IN THE WHOLE WORLD

Flower of Evil" is not just a drama but an emotional masterpiece that balances deep drama, psychological thriller, and romantic storytelling. This drama poses challenging questions: how much are we able to trust those we love? Can we accept someone with a dark past if they sincerely strive to become better?

At the center of the plot is Do Hyun Soo (Lee Joon Gi), an ideal husband and father at first glance, but he hides his past. His wife, Cha Ji Won (Moon Chae Won), a detective, begins to suspect that her husband might be involved in a series of horrific crimes. Their story is a combination of love, pain, betrayal, and hope. It not only narrates crimes but also explores how hard it is to be yourself in a world that judges you.

The main strength of the series lies in its characters, written with great attention to detail. Lee Joon Gi impresses with his multifaceted acting: his character is someone who hides his emotions his entire life, but his fight for love and his desire to improve make him an admirable figure. At the same time, Moon Chae Won portrays strength, determination, and the ability to fight for what truly matters to her. She is not only a detective but also a woman who repeatedly tests her feelings and boundaries of forgiveness.

The plot is so well-constructed that the tension never drops for a moment. Every episode is full of intrigue, unexpected twists, and moments that literally take your breath away. The uncovering of secrets, moral dilemmas, and psychological conflicts kept me on edge until the very last second.

The technical side of the series also deserves special mention. The visual style perfectly emphasizes the atmosphere – dark tones, meticulously crafted scenes, and cinematography fully immerse you in the drama. Meanwhile, the OSTs perfectly complement the tension and mood of the story.

"Flower of Evil" also raises important social issues. The drama discusses how society is quick to label people and how the past can haunt someone even when they’ve changed. It’s a story about the fight for the right to be loved and accepted, even if your life is a series of difficult and ambiguous decisions.

This drama is unforgettable – these emotions will stay with you long after you’ve finished watching. Its strength lies in showing that every person has their own story, fears, and hopes, and love is not just a feeling but hard work for both people.
"Flower of Evil" is a series that transcends genre boundaries, creating a complex, multi-layered story that will remain in your heart for a long time. Everyone should watch this drama.

Flower of Evil — A Masterpiece of Emotions and Suspense

This is my first review so please excuse any mistakes
Flower of Evil is by far the best drama I’ve watched this year. I’ve never been a big fan of crime dramas since most of them focus more on the action and thriller aspects rather than character dynamics. But Flower of Evil completely changed that for me. It had me hooked from the very first episode.

Story :
Going in, I already had high expectations because of its incredible ratings. I avoided reading any reviews to stay spoiler free so I went in blind and honestly, I’m so glad I did. The introduction was exactly my type. The storytelling is brilliant and the way each episode reveals backstories at just the right time keeps you constantly intrigued.
The plot twists were absolutely thrilling. I was literally on the edge of my seat more than once. The last few episodes were so intense and emotionally heavy that they were hard to watch but in the best way possible. The suspense throughout is top tier and executed flawlessly.

Characters:
If I had to name the best part of this drama, it would be the Family dynamic. Their relationship was the heart of the story. I especially loved the wife. Her strength, warmth and emotional depth made her such a memorable character. Every serious conversation between the two made me tear up. The acting was phenomenal and I genuinely felt every emotion they portrayed.

So, prepare your tissues for the final episodes because this is truly an emotional rollercoaster. The ending is open yet deeply touching. I’d call it a bittersweet conclusion that stays with you long after the credits roll.

Amazing start

Lead roles has an amazing start. Loved every part in 1st and 2nd episode, hoping to be more amazing. Loved every part and the detailing shown still now. Lee Joon Gi Acting was so cool.
Still now screenplay was good and detailing too.
The reason I loved watching this drama is Lee Joon Gi, love his acting. And I like the new character he is playing in this drama. ‘Flower of evil’ is different and it is really an amazing start.
Love the suspense, love, mother-father-daughter relationship.

Overdramatized convoluted mess

A murderer husband and his detective wife.

What has he really done in the past? Who is he? How about his parents? Is he a psychopath? How long will he be able to keep this from his wife? Will he end up killing her? Will she kill him?

Maybe the show will answer all these questions or not. I’m only 5 episodes in and I’m beginning to not care. As usual, the show started out well but this is just another unfortunate case of the writer falling in love with his own cleverness and didn’t know when to stop. The story gets more and more absurd and convoluted with bait and switch tactics and red herrings.

The FL does a good job playing her role. I’ve never seen her but she’s good at expressing her emotions. The ML often overplays his character like he’s giving a performance instead of playing a character.

The relationship between the ML and his frenemy, the reporter, is probably the dumbest thing so far. The ML kidnaps the reporter for recognizing him and keeps him in his basement for days and threatened to kill him. Well, after all that, they sort of work together because the ML has a video of some sort? Er…

I also have to point out how terrible of an actress that plays the ML’s mom is. She’s beyond terrible.

Also, there are so many names to keep track of and it gets harder to track because you don’t really see these characters but they get mentioned a lot.

We’ll see how it goes from here but not expecting much. I’m beginning to think that a lot of people just give 9s and 10s no matter what.

Overhyped and extremely forgettable

The show was at least 4 episodes too long, you can tell they added a lot of nonsensical subplots to make it longer but all it ended up doing was reducing the overall quality of the show. The story took many illogical turns and the ending was terrible. A lot of the positive reviews are incredibly emotions-based, which to an extent is understandable since the cast all do an amazing job. But it doesn't make the story any better, and if you find it gripping and addictive.. well, good for you, but there's far better shows that deserve your attention.

1 & 2 hooked but spooked

Even though this a tiny bit reminds me of Dexter series in vibe... I must say though, Junki is hella hot and scary...
Story telling feels like a race between rehashing dark past or fortune telling even darker future.
My chant stil is “Baek Hee Sung, better has his reason. A good one. Damned good one!”
The youngsters acting is on point. Then again, it was meant to be an obvious bleak time. I wish it was blurry displayed. Since blood and gory defines thriller scene too strong when it supposedly enigmatic.
These 2 episode is calm but current. The cases are new I suppose and a little unpredictable so this should be fun to continue...
Would it be too delusional to assume that there’s twin brother plot twist in this... really hopping Baek Hee Sung is not a total psycho though...

I kinda don't like the FL..

I like the part that reveals everything about the ML that he is just misunderstood.. He just don't want his family to get destroyed because of his painful past.. He hides his true self because it is the only way he thinks that doesn't make the FL doubt about him.. but clearly in the flashbacks he indirectly tells her that he isn't a good man as she think he is, something like that.. But she still nags him so in the end they get married. So yeah this drama is good if it wasn't because of the FL. I felt like she doesn't love him enough to trust and believe him.

Flower Of Evil

This drama is very good! It's got nice plot and also very great actors and actresses. I love the chemistry between the male lead and the female lead. They're so beautiful and handsome istg! WHY CANT I BE LIKE THAT SOMETIMES I WONDER. But anyways, I came from when Lee Joon Gi was in moon lovers (still crying & trying to get over the ending). His acting is so real and suites his role very well. As for Moon Chae Won, she's very glowing as well. She has the face of a mom and I feel that she is very passionate. I kinda dropped this drama because IN MY OPINION it got sort of boring. But I want to re-watch it after I watch all of the hundreds of kdramas in my "watch-later" list. I'm looking forward to doing so!

Riveting and Mysterious

First, Lee Joon Gi as ML for sure, nothing will go wrong. I dig the chemistry between the leads and their portrayals. Likewise, after I have watched feel good drama, I would like to see a drama that will resonate to my very core. And this definitely is one of those that will tear you apart but will eventually grows on you. Then, as it can be emotionally draining at times, my interest is piqued at every turn of events. It feels good to see again a k-drama that is beautifully written. What really irked me are those drama that are overrated and this definitely live up to the ratings and I hope it continues (still ongoing as of the writing) More Power!!!
