Two leads who feel equal in every way
it was such a pleasure to see a male and female lead who were equally capable and could treat each other honestly. No ridiculous drawn-out misunderstandings, no hysterical girls weeping on their man. Limited harem politics. ( yay) Gorgeous sets and costumes and as I know nothing about martial arts, the fantasy style of fighting didn’t bother me. Equally, as I don’t speak Chinese, the dubbing didn’t bother me either. if it wasn’t for the horses and the decline in quality in the last couple of episodes , it would have been a ten. fabulous! Was this review helpful to you?

Who Rules the World: A Journey of Love and Power"
Introduction:"Who Rules the World" unfolds as a decent series, immersing viewers in a plot revolving around Bai Feng Xi and Hei Feng Xi, two formidable martial arts fighters concealing their true identities as royalty. Their journey from foes to lovers, characterized by mutual understanding and support, offers a refreshing take on relationships with equal strength and status for the main leads.
Plot and Pacing:
The plot delves into the complexities of Bai Feng Xi and Hei Feng Xi's identities, crafting a narrative that balances martial arts prowess with a romantic subplot. The pacing of the series is decent, maintaining engagement throughout.
Conclusion and Anticlimax:
However, the conclusion feels somewhat anticlimactic, particularly in how they defeat the main villain. Numerous unexplored aspects leave viewers wanting more, making it evident that some elements could have been further developed.
Gender Dynamics and Character Exploration:
The series leans towards a male-centric focus, predominantly unfolding in the male lead's kingdom. Unfortunately, the female lead's arc is relatively short, leaving her story insufficiently explored, a source of frustration for the audience. Bai Feng Xi emerges as a well-defined character with a cool temperament and exceptional skills, her other identity, Feng Xi Yun, revealing the poignant responsibility she must shoulder after her family's demise. Hei Feng Xi, a reserved man with a romantic side, brings depth to the narrative with his dual identity as the Prince of Yong Zhou.
Acting and Music:
Zhao Lu Si's remarkable performance, especially in emotional scenes, stands out, while Yang Yang's acting, though decent, may come across as slightly stiff. The series benefits from a well-curated music playlist, enhancing the overall viewing experience.
Conclusion:
"Who Rules the World" provides an intriguing blend of fantasy, romance, and martial arts. While it excels in character dynamics and offers a unique take on power and love, it leaves room for improvement in terms of conclusion and gender balance.

I would like to add the people who read here if this was your yang yang's first drama, plz watch his 'glory of special forces'(100/10), the kings avatar and you are my glory. I would say yang yang, his acting and the script did justice to one another in glory of special forces. You would see a totally different Yang Yang there.

Power Couple
As a wuxia/xinxia fan and an avid novel/manga/manhwa/manhua reader of martial arts/murim genre, I find this cdrama really good with strong fl and ml. This became by far my favorite cdrama. The only flaws are the ending which did not follow the novel and the plot which became so-so on the middle of the series.

Worlds Collide
"Who Rules the World" is a captivating Chinese drama that offers a perfect blend of romance, action, and political intrigue. Yang Yang and Zhao Lusi deliver standout performances as Hei Fengxi and Bai Fengxi, bringing depth and chemistry to their roles. The plot is engaging, intertwining political maneuverings with heartfelt romance, and the visuals are stunning, featuring elaborate costumes and well-choreographed action scenes. However, the drama isn’t without its flaws. Some plot points can feel a bit predictable, and certain character arcs may seem underdeveloped or rushed. Additionally, the pacing occasionally slows down, which might test the patience of some viewers.
Despite these shortcomings, "Who Rules the World" remains a compelling watch for fans of epic tales with a romantic twist. Its strong performances and impressive production values make it worth checking out.

Beautiful mature story, so much I had more hopes for the FL
Beautiful story! Wish there were more episodes…I watched it initially because of the great and believable FL.
As the show progressed, I held that character among the top FL characters I’ve ever seen until her relationship with the ML evolved, where I felt she wasn’t given enough space even if their relationship feels mature !
The story is well paced in the beginning, and feels rushed in the end. I did love the story and the characters. Action, friendship, love, character development and elegance included.
One of my fav historical dramas so far!

The Actors saved the day!
The story itself was crappy. The direction, screen writing, production was shoddy. I don't know what the original novel was like, but if it was anything like this, I wouldn't have read it either. That being said, what carried this drama for me and what made me watch it to the end (albeit fast-forwarding through a lot of the fight and political arguing scenes) was definitely Yang Yang, and then in addition, Zhou Lusi, and a fine cast of actors who did a phenomenal job. You liked the good ones, and you detested the bad ones. The interactions were believable and well done. Some of the reviews made me take a look at the chemistry between the ML & FL - and I am glad I gave it my own chance and didn't follow those opinions. I like how their relationship evolved and there was such an ease of progression in the development of their bond. Without saying a word, they could relay their emotions and feelings for each other. The subtle changes in expression for each of them said so much (if one was paying attention). Some complained about the way the main villain died, but I thought it was pretty well done. Not overdone.
I can't say enough how Yang Yang made this drama work for me. I will watch him in anything (historical romance preferred). In fact, I'd probably watch him simply standing still!

Zhao Lusi is great in this
My face was like: 😃🥰-->😐🧐 as the show went on.Ever since Bai Fengxi became the Empress, everything started to suck. I'm pretty familiar with cdramas and so the rushed and bullshit ending wasn't a surprise but still disappointing. The first half was very fun and cast was pretty good for the most part. I still rewatch parts of this at times when I'm missing Zhao Lusi's character. I loved it the most when she was in her jianghu disguise, because she had her own story and she was pretty badass.

it's a masterpiece
it's not the typical romance story, of course it contains struggles of the lead characters in order to achieve their goals in life. Their character is literally so sweet to each other, they have no score nor label but they knew what their hearts shouts. The end didn't dissapoint me but it feels like it lacks. and lusi's crying scene I honestly didn't feel it. Maybe that's because she is portraying a very different character than her past dramas before or everything happened so fast?. still it was a masterpiece the chemistry between the two of them is unexpected. I feel like the whole story ended so fast😭Was this review helpful to you?
Romance in troubled times
This drama showcase the lives of the leading cast, Hei Feng Xi & Bai Feng Xi during troubled times. Some reasons why you should consider watching this:
- the drama was relatively well paced. (Personally I didn’t think any of the parts felt as though it was drag out for a reason)
- the story was interesting and was unexpected at certain parts
- the main ML and FL (yang yang and rosy zhao) have amazing chemistry
- the osts are amazing too!
I personally enjoyed the drama a lot! ❤️

Great Production, Decent Storyline, Max Enjoyability
I had high hopes coming into this drama. I usually don't start watching dramas until they're completed, but I took a chance on this and yep, I have no regrets.First of all, the production value of this drama was top notch. Everything looked great - loved all the different costumes and the sets, and it really helped set the mood throughout the whole series.
Second of all, I absolutely loved the FL. Honestly, if you're a fan of strong FLs, I would give this drama a chance because this definitely fits the bill. FL isn't the type of "strong" FL where they claim she's strong and then somehow somewhere down the line, 10 episodes in, you have the ML having to save her every other episode (an exaggeration, but you get my point). Nope, this FL holds her own throughout the whole drama, and is on par with the ML every step of the way, whether it's physically or intellectually. There were times where I thought, oh no, they're going to have her fall into the trap or oh, she's going to get saved by someone, but NOPE, she actually fucking figures it out and gets the job done herself.
This has now become my favourite drama of Yang Yang and Lusi so far. Yang Yang especially, stood out for me in this show and now I need him to do 500 other wuxia/xianxia because he is perfect in these types of roles. Chemistry between him and Lusi was great, so much so that I could deal with some Very Questionable Plot Points just because I was so invested in the two of them lol.
Also, bonus points for NO LOVE TRIANGLE. Hell yeah. There was a point where I thought they were headed to one with Feng Xiwu, but she became best friends with FL instead and was actually so genuinely supportive and kind to FL. A miracle!
All in all, it's a fantastic drama for me, highly enjoyable with engaging characters that I loved. Worth my time, and worth the watch.

Well... I started watching this drama for the second time. At first I watched 2 episodes, got bored and dropped it for a couple of months, and when there was nothing else to watch I returned to it and I didn't even notice how all 40 episodes flew by and the end came. I watched the drama in one go, right? I can't say that this is an "out of the ordinary" drama and that it is the best (since some dramas impressed me more than this one), but I was still satisfied and regretted that I dropped this drama earlier. From the first episodes it seemed to me that this was some kind of fairy tale, thanks to the beautiful landscapes, color correction, costumes and unusually high-quality filming, but then I realized that this is just a historical drama without any magic (I did not read the description when I started watching). And in general, in technical terms, it seemed to me that this project is very high-quality, which made me very happy. Apparently dear?) ... Well, as for the plot itself, then probably there is nothing special here, but it was still very interesting to watch the development. Just.. each episode ended on the most interesting and it was impossible not to turn on the next one, "what will happen next?", "well, how will they act here?", "what will they decide?". Despite the fact that the romantic line was not the main highlight of this project (and usually it is romance that grabs me the most), but the intrigues and investigations did not let me down, it was really interesting. And what pleased me most of all was the relationship between the main characters. Yes, maybe there was no magical chemistry, as we are used to, but the magic was in their unconditional trust in each other, mutual understanding and support, well, it was really nice to watch it and fortunately the authors did not create any intrigues and disputes between them (as the Chinese usually know how to add fuel to the fire), in short, there was just maximum harmony between them, which we could not even dream of. After the relationship that was in "The King's Woman", this one just seems unreal. Throughout the series, I did not notice the thought that I was bored and that the plot was too drawn out, but I don't know ... to each his own and maybe someone may find it that way. I think this drama is worth attention and if you decide to skip it for now, don't do it, give it a chance) Was this review helpful to you?
