A review as a love letter
ITSAY bewitched me. From the very start I'd say the quality surprised me. The shots were stunning and I really wanna go to Phuket one day so that added to my amusement. But 3 things really pulled my heart strings:1. Oh-Aew.
I guess it was when PP's Oh Aew appeared that my eyes widened. I loved him and his puppy face from the moment he popped up till the end. Like, what a beautiful soul Oh is, I wish someone would tell him that everyday.
2. Oh + Teh.
Second to my boy comes the subtlety and sensibility in the scenes between Oh and Teh. The silences, the stares, their touch, their body dance, in my mind many times they were dancing like magnetic forces drawn to each other. Their chemistry is alucinating.
3. Intention.
Last but probably the most important, the intention in every scene thanks to the production and director. Kudos.
I guess it was with the coconut that Teh hated that I started to ask myself, why are they using this, like, focusing on this? But then Oh is taking a bath and I realize. Nothing is unintentional in ITSAY! Mouths half open close, the angles, the amazing soudtrack, the eyebrows, them side by side, their actions, the study materials (Teh cutting his books, giving Oh his materials, the flashcards), the hungry hands close over the chest, the red bra, the kiss hidden underwater, the red hibiscus, the hammock and the chinese words - rival, secret, love, the sunset palette, so many things!! Everything is there for our delight and as important elements of the story. And also, there were many constructed parallels between the leads, T is blue and Oh is red, red x purple hibiscus, hands stopping at the chest x the red bra, young Oh asking if he should have given up the part x Teh actually giving up his position at uni, smart x dumb, accepted son x criticized son, confidence x lack of self-teem, rivals x lovers, the food in their names, egoism x altruism, all bottled up together and crashing beautifully.
Where else do you see that? You don't. This is pure magic, it brings me to tears. I caught myself reminiscing about my first love, my school years, missing my friends and feeling every pain they felt. That is what a masterpiece does. When you disagree or hate a character you feel the after taste in your mouth, the salty tears and when you love a character their happiness brightens your mood. My review is a love letter to the team and these actors, PP my baby. I'm now a fan, I hope we are blessed with their long life and many works. Together they were perfect, just like Oh and Teh, imperfectly perfect. ❤
ps.The sountrack is the cherry on top and their videos on yt, there's so much love.

A poetic, coming-of-age narrative BL
I have been pondering about this drama for a while and its title had me intrigued. To start with, this isn't necessarily a fanservice BL. ITSAY is a coming-of-age story dealing with first love that one experiences as a teenager, friendship, society & peer pressure and exploring one's sexuality. While it's a drama, it feels more like a long movie the way it's narrated. In the beginning the drama was a bit too slow for my taste and also at times a bit immature. However, I did appreciate the writer and director's efforts into making it as realistic as possible. The main leads Oh-aew and Teh aren't the most mature nor aware people in the room. In their core they are just a couple of teenagers who were best friends but were alienated from each other for a long time. I really digged their friendship, falling out and how they reconnect again just for things to go south again. It was funny how the characters took time to figure out their own feelings while I, as a viewer, could see what they felt for each other was as unlike friends as it could have been.
I really appreciated some themes that this drama didn't shy away from. Life isn't as magical or as easy as some BLs make it seem to be. Coming to terms with one's sexuality, the constant confusion and difficulty of accepting one's own self while being conflicted and feeling somewhat shameful was perfectly captured in the drama. At times Teh was awful as a person and Oh-aew seemed to be on the verge of pathetic - but these were feelings anyone can go through. The journey Teh and Oh-aew were on was never smooth and they were their own challenges and their own villains in each other's life. However, deep down they were the only ones who could bring about happiness in other's life.
I must say I am impressed with how this drama chose to approach two guys getting together in a restrictive Asian society. It made me question how or what people go through in real life when they "choose" to not be heterosexual (quite similar to Teh's choice over his longtime female crush). Of course, being a drama it did deliver on keeping the viewer entertained and very apparently have a sequel to this story (which reeks of fanservice to me).
ITSAY is strong as a one-off drama and I would have accepted any sort of ending for it. For me it was going to be another BL drama but the depth and finesse that was apparent in the way was filmed blew me away. I think this drama is poetic and has more life lessons than one might give it credit for. It deserves to be taught in film school and analyzed by literary and art directors. The symbolism, filters and mood all ought to be understood and dissected in minute details. Also, if the right demographic viewer watched it, it might deliver some life answers and I hope people only take the good from it and aren't afraid to be who they are and to love whoever they wish to.
Highly recommended. Do not miss out on this show.

And lastly both of them ooze their chemistry. Trust me you will cry every episodes at least once. Somehow i can relate to this series. Was this review helpful to you?
An instant classic
Every visual, every half-frame sweeps you up in 'I Told Sunset About You'. Stellar script, direction. The two male leads were so mature in their approach to their roles. I have to single out the technical crew of this show - the DOP, lighting department, sound team, set and clothing professionals, brilliant...the right shades of blue; whether in the sea, a shirt or a carpet on the floor. The instant change in mood because of the camera work, the 90's canto vibe brought about by colour treatment and production, this Thai show is in every manner and form - exemplary.Heightened situations which humans go through when transitioning from high school to university, adolescence to full blown puberty, breaking through the all encompassing vice-like grip that heteronormative society has one in - it's all been dealt with so much sensitivity, intelligence and bravery. LOVE!

the best love confess in any series ever
i think the series is overrated, i dont mean i dont like it. its indeed have good story flow and good cinematography, but for me, lack of chemistry from the main couple lead, honestly i found the chemistry between the main lead and the 2nd lead (Oh and Bas) , but oh can deliver the feeling so good once he move his feeling to teh. as for teh, i dont really like the cry scenes, its too much cries.what i will always remember about this series is the confession love of Bas, for me its the best ever in any series.
i will still cfart for their relation in the next season.

I Don't wanti to spoil, just go for it.
Believe me it is not just like any other boy's love story out there. This series make us feel close to them and their chemistry is just bang!!The boys are doing a great acting here [ should i say they are living here rather than acting].
Just try the 1st episode, cus just watching it made me go for the rest too!! I should say it doesn't disappoint. This series is all about identifying the true self!! And the friendship longed for so long.
And the characters are named oh and teh ,they are just doing so good and there are some intimate moments but that are worth for that part . Nothing like other series or drama, what we can actually see here is that this is not boring and there is no pinch of moment where we feel like they are forced to do that role...everyone who watch this can understand that they are deeply into the role!! And that make us blush too😅😅❤.

Nhe I don't like it
When I first watched I thought it was really good, now that I think of it, it's not that good. It's just one deceiving the other. I get that it was supposed to show how hard it can be for a person to accept themselves when they're in the LGBTQ+ community, but jesus Christ where's the fucking communication? If I was Oh-aew I'd NEVER go back to Teh, specially after the scene where they were pretty much almost fucking and Teh just got out of the room they were in. I honestly think Teh is kinda toxic. Was this review helpful to you?

Totally Lovely ...
This series, as a whole, is totally lovely and awesome, and each episode is an individual of its own. The plot, the cinematography and production, the casting, the symbolism and everything about it just you in awe of how well thought out and well put this series is.The series feels like five individual yet connected movies. The production of this series is no joke. The plot is accompanied with aesthetically pleasing scenes. From the color tones of the series, to the way the camera pans in and out on scenes, to the way how the shooting locations complement the plot, the series is giving us movie-quality production. There were a lot of scenes where no words were spoken and the camera is just focused on the expressions of their faces yet you would be missing a lot if you don't get to see those. The more they don't say anything, the more you get what they're feeling.
My only with this series, was that I did find the episodes to long, and at times they did kind of drag on. but either that this was really good.
And the characters are named oh and teh ,they are just doing so good and there are some intimate moments but that are worth for that part .
Overall: it may not be the cup of tea of others, but it's definitely a well worth watch.

Beautiful, a must-watch
The first three episodes are absolutely incredible, just so good. After episode 3, I was really thinking this would be an instant new favorite but the last two episodes personally let me down so I'm a bit sad. Episode 4 takes a turn I didn't see coming (you know, for the angst, it was to be expected) and sadly I thought the aftermath felt rushed. I honestly think the first three episodes set my expectations too high for the last two. However, you absolutely do need to watch it. It's really gorgeous, both in terms of story and directing. There are so many incredibly beautiful scenes simply through the setting, the colours, the music or the meaningful silences. Oh-aew and Teh's chemistry is off-the-charts. I can easily get annoyed when there is too much focus on the main couple's other interests but they do a pretty decent job showing that no one can compete with what Oh-aew and Teh feel for each other.
That being said, I am ecstatic about "I Promised You The Moon". I'm also looking forward to seeing if doing a rewatch will change my mind on the last two episodes.

A coming of age as well as a coming out story..
I Told Sunset About You is a BL drama that has everything that we need in a teen / youth drama.. The slow burn development of the romance between the main characters as they start off as friends to rivals then as to more than friends deserves applause for the acting as well as the pacing of the plot. Moreover, the beautiful cinematography and the mellow soundtracks fits the series so well that every scenes or moments of the characters were captured aesthetically.
The drama is more on the melodramatic side as it tackles issues that teens have to face in the society such as finding their career and identity. We see the constant struggles of the main characters (Teh and Oh-aew) as they try to understand the feelings that they have for each other most especially on the part of Teh.
What really caught my attention when I was watching this series were there eye expressions. The intensity as well as the tension of their fleeting glances towards each other kills me... Whenever Oh-aew and Teh looked at each other most especially at the middle of the series were damn fervid...
To be honest, I have never watched a BL series that had so much tension whenever the main characters just looked at each other. Moreover, the little things they do like their brief touches tells us A LOT about their burning desire / longing love for each other.
This is by far one of the best BL series in which the eye expressions of the main characters portrays a lot of what the real intentions of the characters are.. Like how they really feel about each other..
I'm also glad that the series really showed us the fear as well as the confusion of the characters as they try to grasp the emotions they have. It also tells us that actions have consequences (not just in relationships but notably, LIFE) as recklessness can lead to maturity if one truly understands the consequences of the decisions they make.
Teh indeed showed us in the series his issues and confusions of his self, family and most importantly his feelings.
The only thing that didn't sit well with me in the series is his "unclear" confession to Tarn at the end of the episode in which Tarn asks Teh if He did use her and Teh didn't admit that he used her. This is just my opinion but Teh used Tarn and it was pretty obvious too and I was so disappointed that he didn't admit to it. Not to mention, when Teh was saying his confession to Tarn for his confusions and feelings were pretty vague.
Anyway, Oh-aew in the end deserves an applause for his bravery. He was clear with his feelings and convictions although he struggled at the beginning, however, I'm glad that after his realizations of who he really was, gave him more confidence.
In conclusion, this series will take you on a journey of the main characters (Teh and Oh-aew) coming of age as well as a coming out story. If you're interested in watching a teen / youth drama focusing on the struggles of youth for their Life and Love then you might as well add this to your watch list... Enjoy watching... ;)
