Jang Ok Jung (2013)

Volevo scrivere una recensione su questo drama perché non mi pare ve ne siano altre in italiano su My Drama List e perché, secondo me, non ha ricevuto un meritato riconoscimento dagli spettatori.
Io ho trovato la serie avvincente, emozionante e capace di far prendere vita egregiamente a questi personaggi storici. La storia, quella vera, quasi sicuramente potrà essere stata diversa rispetto a quella raccontata nel drama ma la bellezza di una serie, secondo me, risiede nel riuscire a presentare una trama credibile e, grazie ad attori talentuosi, dei personaggi altrettanto verosimili.
Da questo punto di vista con Jang Ok Jung è stato fatto un egregio lavoro. Tutti i componenti del cast sono stati magnifici e sono visibilmente cresciuti nel mentre che il drama andava avanti. Kim Tae Hee, dopo i primi episodi in cui la trovavo incerta, è riuscita a catturarmi come in nessun altro suo drama e Yoo Ah In non ha bisogno nemmeno delle mie parole di lode siccome anche i muri sanno quanto sia bravo. Ma le vere protagoniste in questo drama sono le donne: la regina vedova, la regina madre, la regina In Kyung, la regina In Hyun, la concubina Choi Suk Bin, la madre di Jang Ok Jung e tutte le dame di corte. Donne forti, donne vissute in un epoca in cui forse eri costretta ad esserlo forte, donne non cattive, non buone, semplicemente umane, con i loro valori, le loro convinzioni e i loro sentimenti.
Un messaggio del drama è che a volte la vita ci mette di fronte a scelte e noi dobbiamo intraprendere una strada che non sarà mai completamente giusta o sbagliata; a fare la differenza sono le nostre motivazioni. Sono quelle che fanno la persona.
Qui la motivazione che muove le azioni della protagonista è solo una: l'amore. Un'amore indissolubile, di quello che noi donne siamo in grado di donare in maniera incondizionata.
Non voglio stare qui a dire che questo è un drama perfetto e adatto a tutti perché non è così ma secondo me, tra tanti drama storici, è uno di quelli che vale davvero la pena vedere.
Non è un drama dal finale lieto se è questo che cercate, ci tengo a dirlo; d'altronde penso lo sappiate già visto che la storia di questi personaggi è stata riproposta in più di una serie coreana.
Sicuramente è un drama che potrà insegnarvi tanto se riuscirete a leggerlo nel modo giusto.

Even if you are not a fan of historical dramas (I'm not), this is one that is worth watching. I made the mistake of reading the history of these people before watching the drama. So, I knew what was coming from the beginning. There are also other dramas that are about this story. I think what makes this one different is that the writers write it as a love story between Jang Ok Jung and King Sook Jong from beginning to end. It also written for you to sympathize with Ok Jung. She isn't the villain in this drama (although she does some crazy stuff because she is forced into a corner by the Queen Mother). She would have been happy to be by the king's side in any capacity, but they treated her like crap and made her want more. Also, I loved the beautiful Hanboks. The women were gorgeous. I enjoyed the story and the setting, but that isn't what is captivating.

The acting is amazing!!! Yoo Ah In is the best king ever!!! His portrayal of emotions is all consuming. I felt everything with him to the point that I smiled when he smiled and cried when he cried. BTW...his understated crying scenes are so well done. It is more moving than the over the top wailing. Kim Tae Hee as Ok Jung is just beautiful. I realized after watching this that the only other drama I have seen Tae Hee in is Iris. I think I should watch her other dramas, because her acting is fantastic. I also enjoyed the other actors, but they don't stand out. BTW...if you are watching this for Jae Hee, then don't waste your time. His scenes are limited.

Oh, and just a side note. That baby (although never looking like a newborn) was as cute as he could be.

The music is pretty.

I won't rewatch this.

If you like romance mixed with some historical political junk (the stuff I totally don't care about), then you would enjoy this drama.
