TharnType Season 2: 7 Years of Love

The same story once again... nothing new to see

I don't think this second season was as bad as people seem to say, but it's true that they didn't give us anything new. It's like they did a copy-paste of the first season, and they just added some new characters. The plot is exactly the same. So it feels more like they did this as a fan-service instead of honestly wanting to continue their story.

For me the best part of this second season is the comedy. Techno is as hilarious as ever, and I'm so glad that Khlui is still the same as in college. I lost it when they added a note saying "don't imitate this at home" while Khlui was trying to hear through the wall.


STORY

You will think that after 7 years this couple has changed, and that the fragile trust in each other disappeared. Ha! They should take notes of Cir and Phugun's relationship. They said that these two have been dating for less years than Tharn and Type (and they both are younger), yet they showed a level of maturity and trust in their relationship that it's nowhere to be found in Tharn and Type's.

In the first season Type was the jealous one in the relationship. As soon as someone approached Tharn, he would misunderstand and accuse Tharn of cheating on him showing how he doesn't trust his boyfriend.
In this second season Tharn is the one jumping into conclusions and accusing Type of cheating stating that he can't trust him.
And in both, there is someone behind doing some "tricky" things.
In the first season it was Lhong, because he was obsessed with Tharn.
In the second season it's Fiat, because he is obsessed with Type.
Both of them have a pretty similar background that explains their behavior (but it doesn't mean that they get excused for it) and although Fiat didn't do bad things compared to Lhong, I felt like Lhong's character was way more needed in the story than Fiat's.

Tharn's family is as lovely and supportive as always.
Type's family... his mom is a sweetheart who is always siding with her son. And his dad isn't that bad. Yes, he is constantly saying how he doesn't like the fact that his son is gay and how he wants Type to break up with Tharn and get married with a woman. However if you pay attention all what he does is talk. He never threatens Type, nor does something to mess up their relationship. Maybe he isn't happy about his son's decision regarding his love life, but he doesn't try to ruin his son's happiness. He just annoys him but he never takes action, so for me Type's dad is a pass (and his scenes are pretty funny).

There are 3 support couples but they don't have a lot of screen time. I feel disappointed over the fact that in the first season they made it look like Khlui and Seo would get together in the future, yet Seo's character only appeared twice and obviously there was no development. I also feel disappointed that we didn't have any Tum and Tar plot. They didn't develop their story in LBC2 and they didn't even mention them on TharnType 2.

As a side note, I would love to see a spin off about Phugun and Cir. I want to know how they met, how did they fall in love, and how these two different types of human beings ended up together. While Cir looks grown, serious, and mature, Phugun has a childish taste, seems innocent, and he is very naive. I didn't have enough of them tbh.


CAST

Once again the acting was good. I feel like none of the actors from the first season improved. They did a nice job in the first one and they repeated this nice job in the second one. Could it have been better? Of course. Everyone is able to improve on anything. But their acting was acceptable.
The new cast didn't do a bad job neither, but I still prefer Kaownah as the villain. Lhong is one of my favorite TharnType characters, and that's probably because his acting job was really good.


MUSIC

The music is like the plot, a copy-paste. They added 1 or 2 new songs but that's it. And I have to say that in several scenes there was a background music that reminded me to one of BTS' songs, to the point that I'm not sure if they got some "inspiration" from it.


REWATCH

I've rewatched the first season a few times but I don't know if I will ever rewatch this second one. At the end of the day it's basically the same story and, as I've mentioned above, I prefer to see Lhong as the villain.

You can digest it...if you try to!

I'll be honest, I'm a Wanjaai so I watched this series with high expectations. I am not totally disappointed, but I am absolutely not satisfied. I remember while it was airing, everyone was bashing the director for weird camera angles, lighting problems, and random cuts, but I'll be honest all these can be digested well if the script is superb.
This series had top-notch cast, Mew and Gulf's acting apart, the other cast were very good too. It has the best main CP with chemistry that can light up the sun. The OST's and music are good too.
But what it lacked was a good script and good pace. P'Mame wrote a script that made me think that maybe the author herself doesn't love her character anymore. They changed a lot of things from the actual novel and well some things were problematic in the story so I'm glad they did. But it felt like the whole season just needed ep 9-12; anything before that was unnecessary and doesn't add up to the main plot anyway.
But if you enjoyed TTS1, bet you'll watch it again. I'm giving it a 9.5 just because of MewGulf. So if you have watched TTS1 and wanna see some steamy hot kisses, awesome chemistry, superb acting from MC's, lovely and fluffy romance, eye candy guys, a bit toxic turn of events, unnecessary drama, bad script being pulled off by superb couple yada yada then go for it.

Started with high expectation and ended with frustration

GOOD SIDE: MewGulf's unbeatable chemistry, bb Gulf's improved acting skill.

NEGATIVE: basically everything else lol or hic, idk whether to laugh or cry out of my frustrations OTL

I've read so many complains about the script of ss1 and wondered if all those ppl who complained also watch ss2, how would they feel lol. may be throw up? This is season came like an additional 'gift' for Waanjais like me and was scripted as per Mame's 3rd book about the couple (while ss1 was based on 1st and 2nd) which means the amount of content to spread into 12 eps are not as much as ss1, But it doesn't mean that the production team can work awfully-poorly and manipulated the fans' love for the main couple, not to mention this ss they have strong financial backups from all brands (and that's why there's pr scene everywhere even with their kiss in ep 11, omg please anything but please spare me the kiss OTL). Why tf even at finale ep I cannot my couple getting married as the trailer and why tf I have to wait can watch special ep though (although I complained but I'm still buying it lol). I still have great gratitude towards P'Mame for creating a chance for MewGulf being together, but sorry this ss she performed and has led a poor direction for the series' sequel. Not to mention the biggest second lacking is the series is not directed by P'Tee anymore with his great choice of lighting and camera angles.

Conclusion: the ss2 for me is good to watch up until ep7 (right before they parted through each others and the series barely could survive without MG's chemistry ;__;). But please don't jump in ss2 without watching the ss1 first, after ss1, you have all choices of whether to cont to watch or not, my recommendation is 75% because of Mew Gulf who saved the series, sorry to say that but that's true.

So as a BL fan it's pretty much a staple to have TharnType on your list. Unfortunately, this season fell a bit short. A good portion of the other reviews I saw all have the same reaction I do...not much has changed in 7 YEARS! Romance is a little cheesier/cuter but other than that their attitudes are still over dramatic, possessive and whiney. 7 years is a long time for anyone but not much growth went on in that time. This is yet again another drama I loved the side couples more lol The other "couples" went quite well throughout, each couple had different categories they fall in (won't spoil it more). Overall TharnType is incredibly popular so S1 is pretty much mandatory but I'm definitely not gonna say "OMG you gotta watch S2!" Apparently, there's another side story so...we have that lol

why is the rating lower than the 1st season?

well i think the 2nd season is a bit better than the first one..

i like the character development compared to the 1st season, even though it's not so drastic. the story isn't as toxic as the first one too.

MEW with his forehead exposed = daddy. GULF also looking extra cute here. Their fashion also improved by a lot!!

Seriously, their intimate scenes looks so natural with secondary actions such as hand gestures, eye movements, facial expression, everything.
I just hope they get to act in another series with MUCH BETTER PLOT because they're extremely talented, but it's ruined by the story of this series.

i just don't like the fact that there are too many side cp. plus, how did everyone become gay?? 2 gay cps r enough in one series, imo...
also it'd be nice if there are more woman characters w/o being the target of misogynism :/

To be honest i haven't find any problems with the series so far not sure if am blind or what, its ok for me best bl drama raw and uncut with real life problems stress and stuff.

Hope the other characters could have more story line all now i haven't seen techno's boyfriend he was complaining to type on the phone about am curious 🤔.

I understand the facts why type don't want to get married to the world it is not because of what people will say but the look they give when you pass by it ain't nice to be the center of attention tharn should understand that he didn't even insist on getting a private wedding or something a ring says it alll.

Base on the characters they are ok for me i haven't find problems the argue with the writer about i just curse the characters 😅 from time to time for their foolish acts lol thanks ....

Starting from the start if you are here after watching tharntype the same you might have high expectations for this season , but this series plot didn't reached upto my limit of imagination and expectations. what I mean to say is the plot was good enough , but couldn't got the feeling of 7 years of togetherness , the trust upon each other was same as of thier freshman year. This plot was okay okay . The acting of Mew and Gulf was same as their freshman year. There was not much sweet moments , understanding part etc. The only thing I got satisfaction in , I got another chance to see my both favourite actors and their chemistry on a single screen. I can say Mew's character was little bit more good .
But both the actors played their best while acting. I didn't like the plot , but I like the casting team. Overall I liked it only because of MEW AND GULF. Mew and Gulf was the only reason I watched this and looking forward to see their "Our love special 2 wedding special" releasing on 13 Feb. Now if u got clear idea so you may The only thing I could find satisfaction in this series was, l got another chance to see my favourite actor's chemistry on a single screen from which I guess I am satisfied. Overall I can say was only Mew and Gulf was the only reason I watched this and I am kind of okay with this series plot and looking forward to see their "Our love special 2" releasing on 13 Feb. I really love first season despite their decision to make special episode which kinda ridiculous but after I read Mame tweet on dec 17 2019 that she lost 10 million baht to make first season, I said to myself why she did that?
But I am not surprise when they announce second season because the popularity of first season and MewGulf right now become famous, they are one of highest paid Y couple, for advertisement etc plus sponsorship to make second season which announced by his name not his product.
After I watch first episode, I feel disappointed. I can't find the development of TharnType after 7 years. I don't get why Tharn so annoying keep pushing Type to be married. Type already answered Tharn questions why he feel uncomfortable married with Tharn. Instead to make Type believe that it will be no problem, Tharn just keep pressure Type to accept his idea. Do you think that not gonna be ruin your relationship? Relationship in my opinion is about two people become one, you have to accept your partner weakness and your partner ability in sad or happy moments. It is not easy to consider and balance to reach goal in relationship. And Tharn just leaving Type to make him more calm and stable instead to convince him to not worry. Having relationship especially gay couple is complicated and so much pressure on. And this season is missing that point. I know fans really want wedding scene but giving it without clear explanation why they must married is not great.
Special episode is driving me nut. Is that Mame signature for having special episode that make viewers especially MewGulf fans to pay? Why she do that after she get sponsorship to make second season? She lost money again to make second season?
In the end, this season is completely messed and boring. I stopped to watch because the story is bad. I really hope MewGulf will have another project together again with producer that can explore their acting. Not with producer who just want to make money from their popularity.

Story: I gave it 10/10 because episode one came in strong laying the foundation for the plot of having a 7-year relationship, showing the couple's dynamics after 7 years, their environment, their mindsets, etc. And with this concept includes the 18+ content. If you know what that rating means, then you know what content it will show, so be a responsible viewer and watch at your own discretion. The flow is very good so far, and like the usual trademark of TT, the end of the episode kinda gives an intro to another juicy scene, it keeps your curiosity for what will happen in the next episode. Episode 1 are usually meh in alot of series, but TT being TT, of course episode 1 would already be very interesting and jam-packed with alot of scenes. The story is not draggy AT ALL (one of my favorite things abt season 1 also), and every scene has something interesting going on that you know will unfold as the story goes. You don't have to skip or fast-forward on anything, you can just leisurely watch it without having problems about anything.

Acting: If you are an avid fan of bl series, then you must be already aware of how good the 2 main actors are. With their popularity comes actual receipts of their acting skills and just with episode 1, you will already see it. But even if you know that they are VERY good, actually watching their acting for this season, you would know just HOW GOOD they've become. The way they've completely embraced being college students in s1, is the same way that they have embraced their adult roles, not just being adults, but showing how a 7-year relationship would look like. There's really nothing to critique about their acting for now. The other actors, you would have a feel of their acting and all of them are pretty decent so far.

Music: Only 2 OSTs have been introduced, the intro song have similar feels with Be Mine, but of course it's different and it's also good. The outro OST is a cute song. The background sounds in the scenes were also good for me. There were similar sounds that you hear from s1 being adapted to this season so it will make u feel kinda nostalgic.

Rewatch Value: to say it in a brief but concise way, I'll be watching episode one repeatedly until episode 2 comes, and the same goes with the following episodes most probably lol but yeah rewatch value, like season 1, definitely 10/10

Others: Production and cinematography is good so far, with a few details that might not be perfect and can be improved on, like some audio problems and the transition between some scenes and such, but still it deserves a high score because the overall cinematography is good. You know that the overall quality is good, when you can only nitpick on the small details haha the issues they'll be tackling are subjective to the viewer's preference or beliefs so those are for story analysis rather than the general review of the series itself.

Overall, if you can watch 18+ content in your shows, then this would be one that you should definitely not miss out on. Watch it as soon as you can, because you won't regret it :))

Really show how people in long relationship behave 7 Years of Love

Already watch the first season and it really good, for this season 2 i love it but i have a few comment which is about transition and bgm.

I love the intro scene😘, kitchen and the scene where type and thorn talk about why he didn't want to marry tharn. What type said its true, as u can see nowadays there are still people who cant accept about LGBTQ, so for me the reason why he didnt want to married i accept and u can see how he worried about Tharn family if he married with Tharn but this make Tharn sad😓. So yeah u cant expect every drama only consist with a fluffy and sweet thing. In order to have a good story u also need to put a conflict to make it more interesting.

For nc scene, i believe there are people will give bad comment and say it PORN. Im sorry to say yes i agree the scene so hot but in season 1 there are also nc scene but this season more ADVANCE because they aready TOGETHER FOR 7YEARS!!!! so i accept that scene cause that how people who in long relationship behave. So for people who said this is porn or cant accept this kind of scene PLEASE DONT WATCH if u cant ACCEPT the REALITY of how people in relationship for a long time behave.

I love the opening scene really2 love it, it show the characters development. Love the kitchen scene it so sweet and u can see how Tharn dissapoint face when Thanya call and how Type laugh when watch Tharn respond with that phone call, im blush i bite my pillow😂😂.

Overall this series highly recommend 😉 beleive me u will not dissapoint u can feel 3 emo in one episode 😂 there are humors, flirty, nc, sad, and happy scene. Cant wait for next season. Ps i didnt recommend for people underage and cant accept the reality of how person in relationship for a long time behave.
