Mr 8 is a miss…that was interesting. And that she is best friend of tower owner who turns out to be the spoiled princess that marked Zang Hai’s back. It should have been obvious but I really didn’t go there. But the Marquis planted her in the perfect gilded cage. Zang Hai has made a tentative peace with her and she pointed out a Dongxia merchant to him. The second surprise was the second son figuring out exactly who he is. Zang Hai was showing him ledgers to show how his step mother was molding him to be a spendthrift and failure thinking that would gain him assist from close quarters. What he did not expect was to be recognized as the bully seeking info about father. We are finally getting filled in on some of the happenings of that day from a different perspective. The son knows what the Marquis did and hated it. But at the same time it is his father. So he has given Zang Hai one day to remove himself from Marquis and the city or be exposed. This is a big unexpected curve ball to be tossed. This is the first time Zang Hai has to decide if he can kill an innocent to continue his plans. The tower owner has purchased a theater for her friend. She is planning to use the proceeds to help the people of Dongxia. I wonder what she will think when she learns she and Zang Hai are from same place? The second son has gone to his mother’s grave. He is speaking aloud and telling her what is going on in his life. He has just started to talk of Zang Hai not knowing Zang Hai is behind with his father’s device preparing to kill him…..as much as this needs to be done, once killing in cold blood is a point of no return. The prince is an innocent tho his family most guilty.

Power games and new alliances

Episode 11 cranks up the psychological chess game as Zang Hai navigates razor-thin alliances and explosive revelations. Here’s some breakdown with some personal spicy speculation:
After Zang Hai rejects Xiang Antu's offer to become Zhenlou’s honored guest, she retaliates by weaponizing rumors, claiming he’s Zhuang Luyin’s illegitimate son. The tension between them crackles, especially when Zang Hai confronts her at Zhenlou. In the process, he stumbles into Xiao Eighth Master (revealed as a street-savvy storyteller).
Xiang Antu finally gets revealed as the Dongxia princess, displaced by Zhuang Luyin’s conquests, the same girl who scarred Zang Hai's back. Foreshadowing of future clashes with Zang Hai.
Zang Hai puts in practice his plan to approach the second Marquis' son, Zhuang Zhixing in the bath guest of Zhenlu. The episode’s standout twist comes when Zhuang Zhixing forces Zang Hai to drink a medicinal wine, exposing the whip scars on his back which are undeniable proof he’s Zhinu. Their tense confrontation swings between brotherly camaraderie and mortal threat. Zhuang Zhixing’s ultimatum forces Zang Hai into a corner, but his conflicted emotions of loyalty towards his father and guilt over the massacre caused by him, adds depth to what could’ve been a cartoonish antagonist. That flashback to young Zhinu locking Zhuang Zhixing in a tunnel is an outstanding way of tying past trauma to present stakes.
While the mentor Gao Ming pushes Zang Hai to kill Zhuang Zhixing, our hero hesitates in a rare moment of moral ambiguity. This dynamic teases a potential rift between mentor and protégé. My theory? As I said in the previous episode review, the third villain (besides Zhuang Luyin and Eunuch Cao) might be potentially Grand Secretary Shi Huai Shan, hinted in the synopsis as the warmonger aiming to destroy Dongxia. Could Gao Ming be secretly aligned with him, using Zang Hai as a pawn in a larger power grab?
Zang Hai decides to kill Zhuang Zhixing, he grabs the weapon he hid behind the plaque and goes to put his plan in practice. He finds Zhixing sweeping his mother's tomb, but something stops him from killing the marquis son.
