Can't breathe

The execution scene earlier in this episode was so suffocating. 😣 It was as if I were the one being tortured. 😵I just can't help but hold my breath as I watch what Zang Hai is going through....
Zang Hai has gone through so much; he's lost too much. Please let him have some peace in the end... 😔🥺🙏

Heartbreaking and Unforgettable

Episode 38 of Legend of Zanghai Zhuan was one of the most emotional and unforgettable episodes of the entire series. It was the kind of episode that didn’t just move the story forward—it tore at my heart and left me stunned in silence afterward. The writing, the performances, the emotional depth—everything was on another level. This is the episode where Zanghai “dies”, or at least is made to appear dead by none other than his own master, Gao Ming—a heartbreaking but brilliant move done out of pure love and desperation. Gao Ming knew that they had no other way to protect Zanghai from the third and most dangerous enemy, so he found a method to temporarily stop Zanghai’s vital signs, just to save his life. That decision alone speaks volumes about how much he valued his disciple. But it’s what follows that really shattered me.While Zanghai was unconscious, he experienced a dreamlike reunion with the people he had lost—his parents, his sister, and his shidis. That entire sequence was beautifully haunting. The lighting, the soft tones, the lingering shots of the people who meant the most to him—it felt like a final farewell, and it hit so hard. What made this scene so unforgettable was Xiao Zhan’s incredible emotional performance. He didn’t even have to say much—his face, his tears, his expressions told a thousand stories. I was crying with him the entire time. The raw vulnerability he showed… it was just so real. I genuinely believed I was watching someone who had longed for this moment of peace, even if it came at the cost of his life. But the pain doesn’t stop there. Gao Ming, who had always played the role of the selfless master, pretended that his coughing of blood was just an act—but in truth, he had been poisoned by the enemy. That final act of sacrifice, when he ensured Zanghai could safely leave the city, was utterly soul-crushing. The way he turned and walked away, already weakened, while Zanghai crying, unable to go to him—that scene destroyed me. It was quiet, painful, and deeply human.Episode 38 reminded me why I fell in love with this drama in the first place. It’s not just about revenge or martial arts —it’s about love, sacrifice, brotherhood, and the painful cost of survival. Xiao Zhan proved again why he is one of the best actors of his generation. He doesn’t just perform—he makes you feel every ounce of the character’s heart. This episode deserves all the praise. It’s the kind of storytelling that stays with you long after the credits roll.

Gao to the rescue

Interesting form of waterboarding. Not familiar with this execution technique. Gao did well with the knockout potion in food. Hai’s grin at eating meal said he knew something up. I am not sure how things will go for those left behind but I am glad Mr 8 helped AnTu. Gao sneaky with all his money saving. But bittersweet that he knew what BingWen planned and still drank the tea. 😭 I wish he could have made it back to town because BingWen got message to new Queen. I think he left off the part where he was going there to make non dead army😝 New Queen will deserve whatever she has coming. She has already managed a groom for AnTu and they’ve not been there a day. Hai is locked up in sky prison with no help in sight. New Queen wants him gone. BingWen is on the way and AnTu being married off to neighboring realm. I do wish mom was alive so I could see her response to eldest daughter. Something happened for AnTu to be left in Yong ten years basically forgotten so not sure what deal was made. Maybe whatever arrangement she had with Cao. Who knew that as a child he was the nice one of the three.😝 There will be no Mr Gao or Queen to rescue them this time. They are going to have to figure out things on their own. Losing the element of surprise thanks to BingWen is really working against them. The cast has done an excellent job bringing out the various emotions to draw in audience. These last couple episodes have you traveling with Hai and feeling his journey along with him. Can’t wait to see BingWen get slammed with penalty for using seal. Hope munchkin Queen gets to enjoy that along with him😝 These two deserve each other.
