Although the mortician aspect would have been interesting, this series is a poor imitation of The Longest Day in Chang'an. While the dramatics actually worked there, it was poorly executed and unnecessary for this plot. I do appreciate that more Chinese dramas are starting to bring back some of the essence it once had, before they tried to incorporate poor graphics and terrible costume work. The action scenes are feeling more skill-based again instead of the floating around nonsense or having characters with strange hairdos that are ridiculous for any time period. One of the mains here also starred in The Untamed and while that one was also somewhat gimmicky, it wasn't as severe and it made more sense due to the supernatural aspect. Nevertheless, at least visually, this series was done better than some of the others I've seen but it still had too many gimmicks attached to a poorly written script:
- They make Gao Bing Zhu seem like some brilliant fighter and observer but for some reason, he doesn't realize the guy he killed was wearing a completely different mask and didn't have the wound he inflicted earlier? Ugh.
- Baili Hong Yi ties a flimsy white cloth around Gao Bing Zhu's wrist and tells him it's some type of magical knot that he would never be able to untie himself from? And Gao Bing Zhu is somehow threatened enough to give in to his demands? Ugh again.
For what seems like a fairly expensive production, the camera work was subpar. Each episode also made less and less sense and the cheesy dialogue only became more cringe. This series really felt like they tried to reuse or combine all the elements of what made The Longest Day in Chang'an, Nirvana in Fire, and The Untamed successful, but didn't bother to care whether the effects actually made sense for the plot. Note that what didn't make this one work for me wasn't because of the actors but from the cards they were dealt.

Unexpected
The story line was fast paced at first but then it become more steady.I love the acting skill and chemistry between GBZ and Baili. They are different in term of appearance, background, personality and temperance but they can mixed well. Complement each others.
Even side characters like shen fei, bai lang and 16th Night shine radiantly.
If there any complain i had it would be too many filler scenes. However it didn't ruin the fun as Luoyang keep your interest with investigation. Make you guessing the mastermind. Trust me i change my suspect in every episode. So good.

An interesting show
This drama reminds me of some movies about Dee Renjia. The storyline is quite good. However, I hate that it is hard to follow, and there are too many characters. I wish I knew the Chinese language so that I did not have to read the subtitles line by line to understand the main storyline.In terms of acting, I think Baili Hong Yi should be more responsive to his wife, Liu Ran. Although he is not happy with his marriage and his father's death, he should not act like his wife does not exist. And to some extent, I think that he does not act like a person with a detective mind. Unlike Baili Hong Yi, Gao Bing Zhu and Si Yue are quite smart in this show.
Anyway, I hope that this one will be a great show like the Untamed.

StoryAlurnya ga lambat banget yang sampe bikin bosen. Informasi tiap epsiodenya juga jelas jadi bukan yang bertele-tele. Cuman tiap clue nya muncul kayak terlalu terpaksa gitu sih jadi bukan yang pemeran utama ngeluarin banyak banget effort buat nyari clue. Terus romance antara gbz sama wsy kata aku terlalu maksa sih, berharapnya ga perlu ada malahan. Di awal ep ngiranya cuman bakal partner aja, walaupun keliatan banget wsy suka gbz tapi aku masih berharap gbz ga suka balik. Daaan buat endingnya kerasa sinetron banget beneran dah tapi ya udah. Tapi romance antara bhy sama lr suka sih mereka beneran develop naturally bukan yang unrealistic gitu.
Acting/cast
Suka banget sama aktingnya huang xuan, beneran yang wow keren banget. Sejago itu dia ngebawain gbz dan emosi emosinya. Suka juga sama akting berantem tokoh2nya, sayang choreo yang diawal ternyata plagiarism (agak bikin red flag). Sama mau bahas akting yibo yang lumayan berkembang disini (agak bias soalnya doi bias sya) tapi beneran keliatan progresnya hehe good job yibo semoga kedepannya makin berkembang. Note buat liu ran karena dia beneran clingy bgt aku ga terlalu suka apalagi ada wsy sama yao niang yang bikin lu mikir cewe2 di sini kuat dan keren bangettt, jadi liat liu ran agak sebel cuman di akhir dia ga senyebelin itu sih (setidaknya ada perkembangan). Buat cast yang lain kyknya aku gk ada masalah ga ada yang ganggu juga aktingnya. Ehhh tapi aku suka bgt sama tokoh shen fei sama bai lang, beneran ngasih bumbu banget di drama ini dan jadi bikin menarik.

Jujur aku kyknya ga bakal rewatch gitu. Rasanya nonton sekali udah cukup karena ceritanya lumayan berat. Palingan nonton ulang potongan2 scene yang menarik sih. Scene yang menarik banget ga ada yang ngalahin tuh waktu gbz tau yao niang sebenernya siapa, sama kyknya funny momennya bai lang juga itu seru.

Me gusta el drama es muy bueno lo veo por el actor Wang Yibo es mi actor favorito los de mas actores también son buenos estoy fascinada con la historia y no quiero que termine me gustaría conocer el lugar.
