Really good and enjoyable !!
I really love this, it's on hold right now cause I can never complete a show at once for some reason I don't know why. I've watched till episode 14 and EVERY SINGLE EPISODE WAS SO DAMN GOOD. Now of course there were some boring moments, but every single movie and series on planet Earth does as well, so it's nothing new. But my goodness, the relationships between the main characters were cute and sweet and so AHHHHHH, their dynamic is frr the sweetest.Edit: I finally completed it and my opinion is still the same, still one of my favorites. Just started watching the second episode of season 2 so I hope it won't dissapoint.
PS: I don't pay attention to OSTs and music unless I really REALLY like them, so don't trust my rating on that too much.

I liked it, but...
I don't care for bullying, corruption, violence, and gore. If you like all those things, definitely give this show a watch, because it is extremely well-written. It's fast-paced (a little draggy toward the end), and pretty interesting throughout. There's a lot going on at all times, and I think you'll have a hard time deciding who is worse, humans or demons. This drama really highlighted man's capacity for evil. Personally, I think there was too much evil coming from too many places. It might have been better if there had been one Big Bad, as opposed to multiple bad guys. For the aforementioned reasons, my rating is lower than I'm sure most people think it should be.However, can we just talk about the cast? I'm a sucker for found family, and this drama really did a good job of demonstrating that. The Counters are people that, in normal circumstances, might never even travel in the same circles, let alone be friends. Once they got together, they truly were a family, bickering and all. The bickering was so great, because that's what real family does, "I can badmouth you because we're related, but no one else better say anything bad about you!" There were numerous emotional scenes that really worked - they made you feel their pain, but they also brought something that made you root for them.
Cho Byeong Kyu as So Moon - he's the newest Counter. He did amazing things with this role. His grief, his anger, his disability, and portraying teenage hormones all worked together to make him so interesting. He's a beautiful crier. Trying to learn his powers, then trying to control them, often skirting around what Counters are allowed to do. I loved his relationship with his grandparents, as well as his school friendships. The transfer of power from them taking care of him, to him watching out for them was really good. Also, I liked that, for the most part, he and Ha Na had a sibling relationship, and the writers didn't try to force a romance.
Yoo Joon Sang as Mo Tak. He's the strongest Counter. His character seemed to be the most fleshed out, since a lot of the show was about corruption, and he had been a cop. The romance aspect was a waste and completely unnecessary. He becomes the father-figure of the group of Counters, and he had some amusing scenes.
Kim Se Jeong as Ha Na. Angry Counter (that's what I called her). She had a chip on her shoulder a mile wide. She doesn't like to be touched, she doesn't attach to people and she's got that "keep away" vibe going on. First, this role was completely different than her role in Business Proposal (of course!), and if I didn't recognize her voice, I might not have known it was her. This was a character that, if not played well, you would totally hate her. She made it work, and I enjoyed watching her coming to terms with letting others into her life.
Yeom Hye Ram as Mae Ok. I hated her so much in Goblin and loved her so much here. She was the mom of the Counters, looking out for the others. She formed such a strong bond with So Moon, and when she had to heal him of his wounds, that just wrecked me. I loved her character.
There were some beautiful songs in the OST. As for re-watch - no. I'm not even sure I'll watch The Uncanny Counter 2. Just a little too much darkness for me.

this drama have to be my favorite
the action is crazy, i like when so-mun do the territorial thingy. the actor/actress actually very good at acting, the way they acting is so perfect. There are some parts that are quite sad, making me shed tears. This drama have the feeling of tense, sad, comedic, and warm. They are like a family who always protect each other. In fact they work well together, trusting each other. So-mun had a bad side when he first started countering, I was very annoyed at that time because he had murderous intentions. He also wanted to end it with himself, but when he was kicked out, he realized that it was wrong. when he was held hostage in the building, he begged the wi-gen to enter him and it worked, finally he returned to being a counter. A few weeks after the incident, Wi-gen realized that So-mun was the key to the world and the Yung world. Was this review helpful to you?

Exciting super hero series with dark political undertones
In a world where demons escape from the afterlife and cause chaos on Earth, a group of special people called "counters" are humanity's defenders and protectors. When I see the word "Uncanny" the first thing I think about is the Uncanny X-men, super heroes with special unique powers, which is exactly what the 4 lead counters are. Very early on we're exposed to what they do, why they do it and how dangerous it is. So dangerous death might result from them trying to do their duty. 3 of the 4 counters work at a gourmet noodle shop which always has long lines when it's open. Shout out to the production team, those noodles look mouth watering and I had to go get food after that. The 4th counter dies and his power transfers to our unlikely hero. This new counter has a deformed leg from a childhood car accident that killed both his parents. His story is tragic but the hero is SUPER likeable. He's dealing with school bullying and a grandmother suffering from memory loss. It's impossible not to like or sympathize with him. As we learn more about each counter we realized they may be more connected than we thought. There's also chaebol level criminal happenings backed by politicians and dirty cops, showing high level corruption on a massive scale.
The villains are well fleshed out. There are 2 lead demons, both are easily hate-able especially the female one who seems to have a face made for bitch slapping. In some ways even with limited screen time they seem more interesting than the leads. The action is exciting which makes this an easy show to watch and recommend.

Protect Not Revenge
The story is about a group called "Counter" where they have a mission to fight evil spirits that possess people. They have several levels from 1-4. Level 1 is the weakest, and Level 4 is the highest. In the middle of the journey, they found a high school boy that matched have a compatibility as the "Counter" but He can't control his emotions, which always makes a problem when He's out of control. That's how the story begins. Was this review helpful to you?

fantastic k drama of supernatural thriller genre
this bowl of noodles seems tasty 〜mad supernatural storyline of good v evil and the afterlife、 lots of jumping up and down、 attractive characters with development potential with some old faces from other drama with good dash of Korean humor and bullies facing painful justice 〜I hope it keeps momentum over the 16 typically huge Korean episodes〜YES〜 how do they do it ?just when you think it must be the end another twist happens great drama here big emotion and wrap ups at the end。 for me I think Yeom Hye Ran as Ms Chu takes the best performance awardWas this review helpful to you?
First time in a while to finish a drama from start to finish!
If you're like me, it's really hard to find dramas that entice and keep me interested to watch until the end. This drama, literally from start to finish was probably one of the few in a long time to keep me on my toes each episode, and also make me go through a variety of emotions within one episode. It is really worth watching, I loved the cast and their dynamic. Each character had their own stories that were explored but flowed really well with the main plot. I ADORE the actors and actresses just as much as I loved the plot. Really consider watching it!Was this review helpful to you?

Amazing show!
Overall thoughts:I was hesitant to watch it because I mostly watch romcom kdramas but this one is just *chefs kiss*. from the production quality to the acting, everything was exactly what I wanted from a drama. it's easy to watch, it's funny, quirky but it still has heartwrenching scenes that I adore. I would definitely recommend this drama!
"Bad" parts:
one thing I would've loved to see more of is probably them catching regular evil spirits. they only catch like two regular ones at the beginning of the show then focus solely on the level three and four evil spirits. I just wished that they would write in more action scenes with the level one or two evil spirits because they were genuinely really fun to watch. but that's just one small complaint that I have.
The acting:
I loved everyone's acting but the person that played Ji Cheong Sin (main evil spirit) was just an incredible actor. his facial expressions were so well thought out, his creepy laugh was amazing and just overall he scared the shit out of me lmao.
Music:
the only reason why I would give the music a 5.0 is because it wasn't really memorable for me. it wasn't bad or anything but me whipping out my shazam app just to know what song it was at a specific part didn't happen and it would've gotten a higher rating if it did.

Grief, Grit, and Gut-Punches: Demon Hunting with a Soul
Some shows sneak in through the side door. The Uncanny Counter didn’t come with huge expectations — just the promise of a supernatural romp and some solid action. But it didn’t take long for that façade to crack and reveal something far more layered: a drama with fists and feelings, where demon hunting becomes a vehicle for exploring grief, justice, and the stubbornness of the human spirit.Jo Byeong-kyu’s So Mun is the kind of lead that grows not just in power, but in emotional weight. There's a vulnerability beneath his initial confusion and awkwardness that never fades, even as he becomes stronger. It’s what grounds him — and the story. Every fight scene felt like more than spectacle; it was a collision of rage, grief, and moral clarity. Watching him navigate loss, responsibility, and anger without losing his core was more affecting than any flashy CGI.
What made this drama soar wasn’t just So Mun, though — it was the team. Yoo Jun-sang as Ga Mo-tak, the gruff, memory-less ex-cop with fists of steel and a heart always two beats too tender. Kim Se-jeong’s Ha-na, stoic and sharp, holding her trauma just behind her eyes, letting it leak out only in the quietest, most vulnerable moments. And Yeom Hye-ran’s Ms. Chu, a healing force in every sense of the word, somehow managing to be the emotional center of gravity without ever stealing focus. Together, they weren’t just co-workers. They were a bruised, awkward, fiercely loyal family.
The chemistry among the Counters felt lived-in. Every inside joke, every shout across the noodle shop, every mid-fight glance said more than exposition ever could. That sense of found family hit hard — especially in a show that’s fundamentally about loss and trying to keep going despite it.
The action was stylish, yes — slick camera work, fluid choreography, the kind of kinetic energy that keeps pulses high. But it never felt hollow. Every punch landed with emotional context. Every villain was a little too familiar, which only made taking them down more satisfying. And somehow, amidst all the supernatural lore and red smoke showdowns, the story kept finding space for humanity — in hospital rooms, on empty rooftops, over shared meals.
Admittedly, the change in writers late in the season left a few seams showing. Some pacing wobbles, a tonal shift that felt slightly off from what came before. But even in those moments, the emotional throughline held steady. The foundation built in the early episodes was strong enough to weather the bumps. The core never cracked.
What lingered most wasn’t the powers or the plot twists — it was the grief. The forgiveness. The stubborn insistence that broken people can still fight, still love, still protect each other. That justice isn’t always clean, but it’s still worth chasing. That being chosen doesn’t make a person special — choosing to care, again and again, does.
By the final episode, the craving for more wasn’t about cliffhangers. It was about wanting to stay in that world a little longer. To see these characters heal, laugh, eat more noodles, take a breath.
The Uncanny Counter was supernatural, sure. But the way it punched straight through to the heart? That was all too human.

A great supernatural drama with one of the best cast chemistry in K Drama world
A great supernatural drama with one of the best cast chemistry I've seen in a while. Uncanny Counter hooked me from the very first episode that I had to watch the next episodes straight after. This drama is great for so many reasons, it's not a typical rom-com drama for one which already sets it apart from most K Dramas. It has many genres in my opinion. It's not just a supernatural drama. It's also comedy, mystery/thriller and it's packed with action and emotions.
STORY:
The story itself grips you straight away right from the first episode. It will leave you curious and wanting to know more. As the drama progresses, it gets even more interesting and just builds up and up so there's never a dull moment. You'll get drawn in with the main story of the lead So Moon, as well as grow curious to find out more about the back stories of the other counters: Ga Mo Tak, Do Ha Na and Chu Mae Ok. Each episode is well paced and there's never a dull part that you'll wanna fast-forward or skip.
The ending of the drama was really good as well since the minor villains were dealt with before the final episode so it didn't feel like it was rushed or crammed into one episode. It goes to show how thought-out each of the episodes were. Plus it really made room for the ending to be more emotionally impactful too.
CAST:
The chemistry between the counters is really one of the best on-screen chemistry I've seen in a drama cast in a while. They all compliment each other so well in every single scene they share. You could really feel that family-like vibe among them like as if they're a real family or really good friends who've known each other for ages even off-screen. You'll laugh with them when they joke around together and get emotional when when they worry about each other. Their chemistry is just so natural and their emotions towards each other so real that it's just SO GOOD!
The production of the drama is also top-notch. From the action sequences, the visual effects, the editing... everything was just spot-on. The one negative I would probably say is that the final showdown felt a little underwhelming. I felt it could have been more action-y and badass. Saying that, it was still a great fight and the considering all the other action sequences in the drama were great, I can let it slide :D
Overall, I really recommend this drama even if you're not a fan of the supernatural genre because of the cast, their acting, great story, production and even incredible OST. It never gets boring and you'll always want to watch the next episode straight away. There's a reason why it's been picked up for Season 2 after all.
