Duke Lean and Madame Li are relieved that the baby is fine. Ru’er couldn’t believe the news and is frustrated. Duke Lean is recovering and orders Hong Bin to investigate the assassination attempt. Hong Bin also informs him that Song Qin now wants to marry Hong Yu who then goes missing. Song Qin’s desire to marry Hong Yu frustrates Jing You. Song Zhi instigates Ru’er that it is unfair for Hong Bin to choose Xi Ruo over her. Hong Bin’s eldest uncle is colluding with Song Zhi. Uncle Li wants to snatch back the duke title from Hong Bin’s father but is angry over Song Zhi’s unilateral assassination attempt. Song Zhi warns him to get the painting if he wants to keep his family safe. Xi Ruo is helping Duke Lean to recover. But she is still rejecting Hong Bin until she finds her mother’s letter with an accompanying jade pendant. Her mother mentions that the pendant was found on her when she was picked up as a baby and that Hong Bin had tried to save them. Xi Ruo then confronts Ru’er for lying to her and warns her to stay away from Hong Bin. Song Zhi witnesses the altercation. Xi Ruo then apologizes to Hong Bin for misunderstanding him. He hugs her tightly. Song Qin tails Xi Ruo to find out Hong Yu’s hiding place. She demands for an explanation. Jing You arrives to get Hong Yu and Xi Ruo away before they attract attention. Song Qin begins to cry that she is not wanted. Jing You offers to marry her but she teases him instead. Hong Yu plans to get away to escape the marriage with Song Qin.
