A MUST WATCH

I have watched this drama twice, once with low resolution and another with HD. The ML and FL have great chemistry. Considering the ML's first main role since he debuted 2019, it is a great achievement for him. His acting is natural and he delivered Li Hong Bin's character to the tee. FL did a splendid job in delivering her character as Xiong Xi Ruo. A big applaud to them!

The cinematography was beautifully portrayed. Colourful and beautiful it was.

Li Hong Bin cold and hard to thaw eldest son of the Duke. He slowly and surely melted by Xiong Xi Ruo. Though marrying Xiong Xi Ruo because of unwanted match for marriage he was already unknowingly fallen for Xiong Xi Ruo. Quietly and many small ways showed he cared and loved her.

Not at all boring. The story moved from one scene to another and every episode was increasingly interesting.

Don't miss out!

Cannot recommend enough

At first I didn't take this drama seriously bcs it was so silly and funny, so much fun to fill the time but whoever involved in making this. MARVELLOUS
Maybe I'll give it ten stars the next time I rewatch. Yes you read that right.

You just need to enjoy this drama with zero expectation and I promise you will be entertained and they will suck you in!!! Bcs it started so unserious and progressed into something serious but still fun, fills with intrigues and plot twists.

Male Lead, Li Hongbin is a quiet, strict and serious person but when he falls in love, he fell hard. He devoted his life for his one true love and you will be amazed at his patience (seriously I'm impressed, his restraint with how the FL was if you get it, you get it) and how he just so trusting of her.

The Female Lead, Xiong Xirou, started as carefree silly girl and hv no qualms or shameless in getting her way or way out of things. You just didn't expect her to be that silly but she was. Bear with her. (Edit: she had her wall up so high so you feel a bit frustrated with her) It was worth it for me. She's also a kind person and caring.

The casts were amazing and I love how in the drama, the ost acoustic-like duet really sounds amazing.

I'm sad it ended but really reminiscing how much fun it was the first time I watched this drama.

Li Hong Bin is Love

Li Hong Bin is the epitome of an ideAl husband! If only there are guys like him in real life..Swoon😍 Faithful, protective, caring, loving and oh sooo handsome. Him being such an eye candy will really hook you up to this drama.

Xiong Xi Ruo is sweet and cute. The ML and FL chemistry was totally endearing up to the point that it’s almost enviable. The supporting casts also gave a great performance.

The story is feel-good and one that is full of life lessons especially about family morals and values which gives this funny romantic drama a high re-watch value.

Quarantine worth watching

It was a great drama especially the MLS both of them were so great. The main FL is so cute and the story will never let you get bored. The story is an amazing one with great family concept best father-mother, sisters, husband and brothers and how can we forget miss. Song and third master Li love story. I will just say one thing if you want to have great time to watch this drama, it's really mood refreshing to watch in this boring quarantine period. The director and team did great work with scenarios and when you watch this drama you will say wow!!! This drama is too cute to be true. For real guys the concept, cuteness, bonding, acting was all 100/100. It looked like the couple were mischievous but whatever they do gets cute in turn and I would give a special attention to villains the cousin girl did so fine work to make us hate her from bottom of our heart and the song brother was like a playboy haha I am sorry I know you are not like that in real life maybe, but your acting is appreciated. And last not least the brother bonding with ml girl and their family treating the girl as their own daughter since she was orphan was all added up to cute and that master and disciple!!!! Relationship AHH *0_0* cuteness overloaded. I will only say if you are looking for a drama where you will just swoon like *aww* and *ahh* then this is the one.

Light-Weight Romantic Comedy

I wanted to watch a good costume drama but I don't want serious plots. And I found this hidden gem.

It definitely deserves a very good rating, I thoroughly enjoyed every single episode. The FL acting is above the top!!!!
ML looks very handsome when he is serious. The story was so light and funny.

This is the first time where I saw an amazing ML's family who are good people, who doesn't scheme behind each others back and goes through power struggle.

In Summary, this is that drama which you should watch when you are having so much struggles in real life and want something fun and light to take your mind off reality.

Funny piece with foxy female lead

historical romcom... nice, healing and funny piece
lot of lies and deceptions from FL which later leads to funny situations. One lie leads to another one.
Whole drama is history romantic comedy theme, where biggest interest propably lies in daily interaction of main leads.

plot - FL is painter and swindler... she is hired to infiltrate into noble house of ML to find something.
She gets into hassle with ML with untold ending. Month later she is arrested in that house by ML and to save herself from death she lies about pregnancy with ML.

genre - comedy, romance, some action

A pleasant refreshing ride

I have thoroughly enjoyded this drama - it may have touched my mood in mild rainy days in winter ;) The main leads have done a lovely job. Lovely chemistry and I'd wish to see both of them in main roles in the future. Zi was cute, sweet, rebellious and refreshing, never bothersome as a female lead and Ning Jun's manly and catching eye acting was enough to make my heart throb. I liked the twist towards the end ... it would have been too much. But I won't tell ;) Every character became its deserved ending. Very satisfying. Must admit I skipped a few scenes in the middle, especially family Song's intrigue parts, but only because I was impatient. A nice fairytale, well presented and real kissing scenes. Actually a very entertaining smooth watch , heart-warming, refreshing and cute!!! I shall definately rewatch ... some scenes and follow the main leads developement in the future. I highly recommend on a wet, windy winterperiod, it will keep you warm ;))

Overstated

The first 10 episodes are kind of funny, the rest of the movie is a bad joke.
From my point of view, for a movie to be captivating, it is necessary for the viewer to live the story with the characters, unfortunately, from the sympathy from first episodes I went to hate FL and hardly watch the movie to the end.
The music is beautiful and it's one of the reasons I kept watching the show.

Light to watch

I gave this a try because I wanted something light. The storyline especially in the first few episodes is definitely a bit steamy for this genre haha. Sometimes, I appreciate a more traditional take on period tv show like how in some shows, the women are wearing sleeves clothes. The series focuses on glamouring the men making somewhat less masculine for me. Anyway, good chemistry, something different to watch for sure. I recommend you give this a try.

P.S. I really like the introduction music.

Good Acting - But the Story?

Oh geesh - I persevered until episode 21. But I gave up!

I couldn't handle the whining foot stomping childish FL, SFL... well ALL and ANY Female in this drama is portrayed like they are some spoiled adolescent child. Their interactions are conducted as if the ALL the men in this drama are speaking to spoiled, STUPID, not just innocent but flat out STUPID girls with NOTHING but air between their ears.

This is including the Mother, the Mother-In-Law, and of course ALL her sisters. Maybe the assassin is the ONLY one not written to act this way- she doesn't have much screen time.

I've heard that Asian men actually LIKE it when their girlfriend plays the stupid, innocent spoiled rotten child, pulling on their cloths, whining acting - I guess as I looked it up the romanization of the Chinese word , Sa Jiao - BUT THIS show takes it to the extreme and has every woman acting like she is some type of infantile brainless wonder - I felt myself loosing IQ points!

The men on the other hand - The writers made them: intelligent and studious, domineering yet benevolent, long suffering and yet powerful - oh and don't forget pure and chaste, as apposed to the lecherous FL who finds herself the one who instigates compromising situations.

Then throw in every other over used over worked plot twist and dramatic trope - evil female cousin trope you took my man, you will pay... and the poor tragic brother trope, I love you so much but you love...sigh...HIM.... I will leave but support you to the end - and the evil lord pulling all the strings trope, who JUST HAPPENS to be the absolute best at manipulating everyone OHHH geesh I could go on and ON!

The OST was ok, not bad but not fantastic either.

To be fair, all the actors did a great job in their roles, this IS a good drama acting wise. It is just the rest of it that ends it for me.

The storyline is your typical melodrama - and while I usually enjoy these type of light fluffy stories and I usually overlook plot holes and inconsistencies in this type of drama and just try to enjoy, by episode 21 with only 8 episodes left and almost 45 min per episode and yet another trope getting introduced with all the other tropes not yet flushed out and the gender bias over kill - I finally called it quits.

Good Romance Comedy Drama

The acting is good. Even the supporting role is good especially ML parent.

The story is fun to watch. FL is cute and clever with her lies to save herself. ML looks charismatic, very suitable for his role. The chemistry between FL & ML is good.

ML father looks fat and funny, he obsessed with money and really cherished his wife. While ML mother looks so pretty.

I really like the opening song of this drama ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hope ML & FL will play together again in the future in modern drama with romance comedy genre.

Halfway through, and not even the Duke's loving family can save this show for me

I came into this show knowing about the BIG misunderstanding (fake pregnancy) that the plot is contingent on. And that the FL is a liar, lol (see: name of drama). But after a super funny first 10 episodes, it got pretty tiring, pretty quick. At first I was a fan of the slow burn romance, but then there's a back-and-forth that goes on forever. While the actors individually are hilarious and sweet, I couldn't get into their relationship. Finally, I'm pretty much halfway through the drama and the plot (scheming bad guys/Lotus people, Song family relationship, familial relationship, etc) is going nowhere. I know I love my light-hearted romcom, but this one crawled at a meandering pace.

PROS
❀ FL is funny af | She's comedic gold and the actress did a great job in depicting the role. Her eidetic memory wasn't followed through on several times in the plot, but that's whatever. The FL is the epitome of naive and innocent, and her actions reflect that personality. Saying a lie to save herself was the best option at the time imo and she's quick to take action (even when the actions are silly).
❀ Wonderful families | Whether it's the duke's hearty laugh, the brothers' fun relationship (even while the second brother is second ML), or the adopted sisters of the art pavilion, this drama did an incredible job in depicting loving, supportive, loyal, hilarious families. The Duke was especially an easy to love character that made me smile!

CONS
✕ FL and ML both had faults that made it hard to root for them | For the FL, it was being too impulsive with her decisions that led to nonsensical things happening, and for the ML it was his inability to compromise. He basically coerces the FL to stay in the marriage with him after finding out about her lie (as a way to make up for it), even though the FL said she didn't want to. I guess you could call it "tough love" (because at this point he has feelings for her, he's just too shy to say it), but it didn't leave the FL with many options which was tough to see. I also saw a lot of ML saving FL moments, which I was just not in the mood for. The FL is hilarious and a tough cookie for sure, but I think her character's saving graces were underutilized.
✕ Too much girl on girl hate | In the first 10 episodes you see 3 different girls (NOT the FL) liking the ML. Like ---- why??? Lmao he's so cold. While the ML is depicted as a cold general, there's not much military stuff going on (compared to General's Lady) and his true personality is just stuffy, stuck up, and a stick in his ass. As he falls in love with the FL he opens up a bit but at the point where I dropped the drama, he hasn't confessed lmao, so I can't say any more about him. But I tolerated him despite his unlikable deeds because 1) the actor is quite handsome (yeh I'm superficial like that) and 2) the actING is done in a way where you find him endearing rather than tyrannical. So kudos to the actor lol. ANYWAY there's a childhood friend who's fighting for him (classic evil second FL), the Song family girl (naive/younger/immature girl), and the flashback of another girl who died, and also liked him. Like sheeeeesh give this dude a break. At one point it just kind of felt like a cat fight and I was over it.
✕ Misunderstanding level: 8/10 | I mean, this drama's main premise is literally BUILT on a misunderstanding, so be prepared when you start it. Other than that, there's the usual small things that happen but nothing too major for the couple, I think. The pregnancy scheme went on in the family for a while, even when the ML figures out the truth. I'm giving this a high misunderstanding score because of the inherent nature of the plot (the lie that just keeps spiraling), but it wasn't too annoying because at least it kept the story moving.

OVERALL
Yeahh... this one is light-hearted, but I'm not the watcher for it. The plot drags on the pregnancy plot (even when the FL confesses to the ML about it in ep 8, they keep the sham on for far too long imo) and nothing interesting was happening at the point where I stopped. I think this drama had good potential, but I wasn't sold on the romance and characters enough to keep going. Like in General's Lady, the FL gave shoujo anime MC-like energy and the drama itself felt like a 2010's kind of drama rather than something more,,, developed, when it comes to the FL and other female characters. Maybe give this one a watch for the hilarity and warm family, but that's pretty much it.

(Note: My rewatch value is set to 5.0 always as a default as I'm not the type to rewatch dramas EVER. Thus, I do not take it into account when calculating overall score.)
