Cute Programmer

OK drama, made better by well-developed characters and good acting

Brief synopsis:
The female protagonist Lu Li has been secretly in love with Jiang Yi Cheng for years. He is a genius programmer, now running his own company. He doesn't hire female programmers (there is an obvious story for that), so she disguises as a man and gets hired. There's twists and turns, they get married, but signs a secret marriage contract. She hopes she can make him fall for her during the duration of their contract, but obstacles appear.

The story contains a lot of well-known tropes and cliches, but at the same time I found it engaging. The main reason in my eyes being that the characters were not so one-dimensional as they are in "soap operas", but they were rather given multiple layers, making it more interesting and giving better opportunities to build a connection to us, the viewers.

They could have skipped some of the side stories, it felt a bit unnecessary with the love stories for her friend, the sister AND the coworker.
I did like both his and hers parents, though.

All in all, the script could have been better, but the acting and the well-developed characters made it well worth watching in my eyes.

The title "cute" suffice at some point

For some reason, I like this drama in terms of its elements (not really and entirely on the storyline)

I like how there are quotes at the end.
I like how there are stages in the relationship of the main leads
I like how there are twists on the partners of the second leads
I like how it is close to reality by the time the guy made painful remarks because he is not aware or he has no romantic feelings yet.
I like the use of programming lines in the script even in the OST especially the proposal scene

It can be tried if you aim to look at other perspectives especially the programmers perspectives

My first series rated under 8.

Things I loved:

1 The SML. What an adorable actor and what a great character. I'd love to see him as the main lead in some series.

2 The sister of the hero. She may be over the top sometimes, but she was funny and dynamic. I loved how the actress portrayed the character.

3 The work team and how they behaved with the heroine. It was great to see them interact.

4 The supposed rival of the male lead. I loved the actor and the character. The script wasn't always good, but the actor managed to make me like the character.

Things I liked:

1 The hero. He was a good person and I didn't think he was especially mean.

2 The actor. I've seen him in Lucky's First Love, so I'm a bit biased because I loved him in that series, but I think he did a good job here as well. The script didn't help him. Sometimes it was good, sometimes it was awful. He still managed to convey some emotions well.

3 The parents of the hero. I imagine some didn't like the parents and i get why but other than some exaggerations, I found both couples caring and not too intrusive. Intrusive for me who's very independent, but not to the point I hate him.

Things I disliked:

1 The third couple. I didn't care at all about them.

2 The parents. Sometimes I thought they were too involved and in their children's lives.

Things I hated:

1 The clothes the heroine wore sometimes. What the heck was this kind of clothes? was she meant to be a nun? Usually the heroines in both Korean and Chinese dramas are dressed impeccably. Here it was atrocious.

2 The turn the story took and how the heroine behaved. Contrary to others that she went along with the "rival's" statement about the child didn't bother me. I get why she wouldn't clear the situation. It just shouldn't take that much time. But that she had such a change of heart so suddenly, although explained a bit, didn't flow for me. Her character was inconsistent.

3 Lack of chemistry. After seeing Lucky's First Love I think it was evident to me that the chemistry wasn't the same. I watched them one after another so it was easy to spot that.

4 The forced innocence. The actress is adorable and she's convincing in playing an innocent heroine, but it became too much after a while. She didn't feel real to me.

5 The "sleep together and don't remember" plot ruined the series for me. That's not romantic especially when you don't give time and space to the couple to talk about it and give the audience the satisfaction of some romantic scenes. It was awful.

6 Lack of cute and romantic scenes. They were rare and not too convincing. All in all, it started great, it had some funny and touching moments, but in the end it fell flat and I blame the main actress and the script.

Don't put much expectations with this drama

Story started with a girl who is computer programmer ,just to meet her idol she work hard to work with her idol and she got the chance but unfortunately the company didn't need female employee so she changes herself to boy but her some habits her idol starting doubt on her and expose her identity in front of the member of the office and told her to go out of the company ,from here I expected something more but their parents came out as school friend and they did the contract marriage . And she continued to work with him .then twist arrived that his past came between them which made them separated and then he persuaded her upto 4. - 5 episodes ,then she forgave him and then they together faced some hardship and successfully passed those and then had a happy ending. I am waiting to see their child but .....
I like his sister's love story too.
But drama is a cliché.

DO NOT RECCOMEND

Everyone here keeps complaining about the insufferable ML and while I agree the FL isn’t a good person either, she essentially stalked him for five years and then it was glamorised to be this secret love type thing, lied about her gender just to be close to him and as if that wasn't creepy enough she slept with him when he was drunk and out of his senses and he was in the wrong? She didn't even try stop him she gladly went along with it then lied in the morning when he asked if anything happened. We're supposed to feel pity that he doesnt love her after their marriage but she came in KNOWING it was just to satisfy his parents he didn't like her and there was a chance he never would but she couldn't accept that. After she finally decides to leave him she also hides the fact that she is pregnant with HIS child. Somehow I'm supposed to support her becuase she doesnt want him tl stay out of obligation but for love? He has a right to that child just as much as she does and after he finds out she's pregnant she carries on lying that it wasn't her child. Yes, she is a more likeable charecter but she did some heinous things, I kept watching hoping that someone would recogonise the problem with her actions but no. Anyways would not reccomend.

Slave of love

The right title for this drama is supposed to be slave of love. Because of all of the couples here, one of them is gonna be the victim of a slave of love.

I enjoy the ride, I laugh and cry with them. But that can't cover what is lacking in this drama.

If you jump in this drama really hoping to see women in action in the programming world of course you're gonna be disappointed. This is just another romance fluffy drama with a lot of insistence. The most famous quote in this drama is that persistence brings miracles. Well... That's not always the case, sometimes it only happens in the drama world.

We have 3 stupid couple with crazy though of love. Our nominated couple:
1. Jiang Yi Cheng (YC) & Lu Li (LL). LL is just stupid girl that I really want to slap her at first to get her back to her sense. Thanx God she finally can snap back to reality & given YC his own lesson. But for me in the end she still too easy to forgive & forget.
2. Chen Yi Ming (YM) & Jiang Zi Tong (ZT). ZT is one very stubborn woman. I don't know to classify her as stupid or just plain woman. It's kind a miracle I think when someone can change their feeling toward other from sister to woman, very unlikely it's gonna be happen. And she just wait persistencely, what if he never change his feeling & just find another woman....
3. Gu Xiao Qi (XQ) & Gu Mo (GM). GM is really one stupid man. I can't find another word for describe him. He just secretly love with XQ & just do anything possible to make XQ be single... If that's in reality maybe it's actually kinda creepy or maybe once more it's like Lily and Marshal said in 'How I met your mother,' if you like them it became endearing if you don't like them it become creepy.

And we also have cute couple of...
4. The parent (YC & LL). The dads is the one we said afraid of his wife, but in this case is not because of fear instead because of love. They are also one victim of slave of love 🤭. But i really love the interaction of YC parent...

Overall this just one stupid fluffy romance. Watch it if that's what u like. Nothing missing if u not watch it though

Simple and cute

I am writing this review because I love the character of the FL that is Lu Li I am still in episode 22 but I could relate with the character since the very beggining.

Specially in episode 21 when she decides to leave. I am someone who has experienced something similar and i decided to leave. So it is a really relatable situation for me.

According to me they lack communication if the ML would tell her where he is going and try and understand the FL they would probably have a better relationship.

Overall the acting of all the characters are great. I need more if the second and the third couple. Speacially Yiming and Zhitong.

Shut off your brain...No Logic Allowed

I am into fluff these days and this series fit the bill.

The story is about a girl who like a guy unrequitedly because he helped her when she felt lost. A guy whose been burned by love whose prejudice against girls in his field caused major misunderstanding between the leads at first.

Here are points of what I like and dislike:
- the gender bender ended quickly, I can't bear seeing her wear that hideous wig.
- the FL is headstrong, although admittedly she loses herself when it comes to the ML but personally, i think in real life there are girls like her.
- the FLs bestie is the best. She does not push her opinions on her friend but she supports her with whatever decision she makes.
- the ML is dumb, that's the most positive way to describe him when it comes to love. He's not hung up on his old flame but because he feels guilty about his misconception of her, he gives her some of his time which gives her hope that there's a chance to rekindle their affair.
- the MLs best friend like the FLs bestie is awesome. He was not written as a 2nd lead that we get sick of because he didn't end up with the FL. He supports her and tries to put some sense on the ML but the ML being dumb as he is does not understand his friend's good will.
- The FLs teammates, 4 musketeers of the team A of programming, made the workplace lively and their teamwork and camaraderie is cute, they made the scenes in the office funny and endearing.
- The Ex GF, Li Man is the ex we hate the most. She's under the illusion that the ML has not moved on and can't forget her. I mean, she made his old company go broke, she blamed it on his mom's dislike and she disappeared to improve herself. It's all sugarcoated BS. She should not have had the face to show up in front of him but she's brazen and so confident that she can't get him back.

The OST is cute.
As for the rewatch value, I would when I need to shut off my brain and watch nonsense.

All in all it was not a bad story, it's a usual romcom, the story is what we're used to but the chemistry between the leads didn't work well for me. I've seen them act way better than what we've seen here. The only reason I scored this at around 6 is because the comedy worked for me.

Why Cute?

The title is not corresponding to the meaning of the series.
When they want to say that women can do it, they must not mention how cute or not is a woman. They lose the target.
It was a bit boring in the beginning but after about ten episodes the style changes and becomes faster.
The two male leads give a serious advantage to the series, but the plot is having some gaps.
Anyway it was a pleasant series to get your time by but nothing more this. I have seen more interesting ones that include a lot of technological data and innovations as well.

WHO WROTE THIS DRAMA (smh ... sigh)

From the beginning... this drama line... OMG... went from immature silly to ridiculous to *Who In The Hell Wrote this Drama*.
You have Amazing Casts... especially with a top hitter actor Xing Zhao Lin.
Yet in my personal opinion the drama couldn't be saved ... even if they pulled in 10 star casts.
This drama gave little to be desired and by the Last five eps .. my question is *WTH.. Who wrote this?* (sarcastically that is)
Well... 1350 of my viewing hours into the garbage. I took a gamble to watch this...

Personal rating ... 2/10 (that's stretching it)
Unfortunately I personally will not recommend it..
HOWEVER, that doesn't mean that it's not your type of drama. You may like it, love it or regret watching it. The decision is yours.
