Review of episode 1

This episode explored the theme of fighting for your right in the midst of class inequality. Dong Ju and Chun Soo fought for the rights for slaves to be free even though they were lowborns as well.

This episode explored the theme of gender inequality and fighting against it. Though Dong Yi was a girl, she fought hard in the race to win the boy. Though she was a girl, she was intelligent and that was not the norm for girls in her time. She was able to tell the police what was the right procedure to deal with the corpse.

This episode explored the theme of kinship. Dong Yi loved to eat the honeycakes but even then, she did not forget to reserve some for her father and brother. Later on, when she had the money, she bought food for her father and brother as well.
