Pretty Good, but could have been longer in my opinion

Overall, I enjoyed the show. I thought the cast did well playing their roles, but I do think the plot could have been execute better, in terms of the main couples relationship.

While I do like the main couple Junnosuke and Nami, I think that their characters needed more screen time together (meaning spending more time together). It is interesting how their feeling develop for each other, but I feel like it developed over a short period of time, and I wanted to see more of how they interact with each other. With this being said, I believe the drama could have been lengthened. At the end, we see that Junnosuke returns from Cambodia after 3 years of working there and Nami is just waiting for him coincidentally at the bench where they meet. I think it is cute, and yes when you love someone, you will do anything to make it work, including long distance, but I feel like their feelings as a couple were in "honeymoon" phase when he traveled away and they never got a chance to really develop that relationship as BF and GF.

Another thing I noticed was that we never really got to know the editor-and-chiefs story. I honestly would have liked to know more about her character and how she got to where she got to. I think it would have helped more on understanding why she had the personality that she had with her assistants.

I would re-watch this against for the cast and cute plot idea, but do wish the drama was a little longer and spent more time developing the characters. It felt rushed to me.

J-dorama version of The Devil Wears Prada

I'm almost halfway through watching this and it reminds me so much of The Devil Wears Prada: the FL who's not (initially) interested in her work (Anne Hathaway's character); the strong career woman boss (Meryl Streep's character), and the deputy editor (Stanley Tucci's character). I think it's meant to be motivational or something but the way it delivers (like the other J-doramas I've watched before) is kind of cheesy and cringey at times. In terms of acting, Nanao is definitely a standout. I like strong career woman characters like hers, which is a rarity in Japanese productions. Overall, it's a light watch, especially during these stressful times.

A nasty review of the rookie race. Apologies. Plus spoiler.

The knobby little rookie Nami with the pancake face is confronted with the extraordinary appearance and great beauty of Reiko. This is all too much of a balancing act and completely off the mark. FL comes across as plain and provincial and is constantly played up against the wall.

In other contexts, Mone Kamishiraishi might be appropriate and cute, but in this role, set in the fashion world? Her rapid development is also implausible, for instance from shy country bumpkin to assertive employee without fear. I also couldn't follow her private priorities, which consisted of orienting herself in completely opposite ways. She is probably just opportunistic.

In the end, you just want to feel sorry for the writer, who somehow slipped on the keyboard.
But the actress Nanao is a beautiful discovery.
