amazing cast let down by the writers
they actually made it a makjang in the end. I would have really appreciated a stronger ending if the build up was so interesting till episode 13 or 14. everything started going downhill after that.I appreciate the actors doing their best with what they were given but at some point even gong chans noona noona started getting irritating.
It was a drama with so much more potential and the villain did a such a great job but i hoped soo jae would have taken him out in a more brutal way idk why 💀😂

Great series, one of the best I've seen so far.
Those of you who are critiquing the romance between the male and female leads need to go back and watch episodes 1 and 2.They have a long history.
And if you can't say anything positive about the actors and actresses please just say nothing. Let's live in love.
Most of us just watch the shows for pleasure, we don't need all the hate, if you don't like it just don't watch it.
Most of us cannot begin to do what these actors and actresses are doing but we are very quick to criticize, from their looks to their skills, PLEASE stop.

Will keep you coming back!
This story is one where you will want to keep watching to know what exactly happened, and how it all played out.I really loved all the characters in this story! They played their parts very well! They're intriguing, deeply flawed, and it shows how corrupt the world can be.
Soo Jae is such a strong woman, who gets put through hell and back again. Seo Hyun Jin's acting in this is absolutely phenomenal!
Gong Chan is a character whose life has been turned upside down and who is trying to put everything back together again and find the truth.
Choi Tae Guk is a smart, calculating, manipulative man who has all the right connections, so he's able to get what he wants.
We follow these characters as they seek revenge, the truth, and in the midst of it all, trying to find happiness and redemption!
This is a mystery, law drama, with romance. I was hooked from the very beginning. This story definitely kept me coming back! I was invested in the story, the characters, and how it would all play out. This drama was fine with the romance, but it would’ve been fine without it as well. People either love or hate the romance aspect. Personally, I enjoyed the romance aspect, but I can understand why people wouldn’t. There was a particular scene where Gong Chan had something that belong to Soo Jae, and he should've handed it over, but instead he kept it because he wanted to "protect her". I'm sorry but she's a strong woman who is and has been protecting herself. She knows what she's doing so what made him think otherwise? That annoyed me! But that was really the only instance for me. This drama was definitely not perfect. It has it's flaws, but overall an enjoyable one.

Ending story
I feel that it is a good drama plot but only until episode 13. Episode 14 - 16 was boring because i feel the story is messy,especially the part where Jae yi died that was mean. Why ??? She should not hit by a car, she should still be alive. As for the ending, where the truth is revealed choi tae guk killed himself which I think it make sense as there is some real bad guy in real life that will kill themselves but it is just sad after all the mistakes he did . Also, all team that did mistake with choi tae guk should have been step down from their position and more. It feels like the ending just end without showing the bad guys punishments that they deserved. Example,jail, step down,pay fineWas this review helpful to you?
Underrated masterpiece !!!
I just finished this and let me tell you, what a masterpiece !! Seo hyun jin is my far one of the best actresses out there !! From start to finish this drama has kept me on the edge of my seat , it wasnt predictable , kept me very intrigued all the time . lets talk about that first episode, what a range of emotions i just love how our fl is such a grey charachter cold and ruthless yes but in a matter of fact way, she isnt unnecessarily mean but not kind either , she will do anything to reach her goals . later on we came to discover why she had to become a tough cookie and her tragic past . once again s koreas very corrupted system is showcased and how utterly sexist it is still. Some moments are simply infuriating however it isnt a depressing hopeless drama since our fl is basically a genius badass woman that knows who she is dealing with and has all the dirt on the big bosses to keep herself safe . i have read a lot of criticism about gong chan , he is not a bad actor , in fact i did enjoy his appearences in the earlier episodes however at the later,heavier episodes he just wasnt able to sustain the good performance especially compared to a huge veteran like seo jin hence why he felt quite underwheling at the end same with the romance which opposite to most people here i think they had good chemistry and their relationship was adorable which why it worked in the beginning for me but the tone of the later episodes just didnt need heavy romance in it . i have to mention the villains as well what a great acting performance by vereran actor heo joon ho , he perfected the piece of poop actor role , such a charismatic character i have to admit that his eye wrinkles distracted me a bit but his acting made me forget about this. Overall i give this drama an 8.9 i put it on hold for so long afraid that it would not meet my expectations but it surpassed it. Glad i finally did come around to watch this masterpiece !!Was this review helpful to you?

One of the best drama I've seen so far
After watching the lats two ep, just one thing to say, THIS is one of my favorite drama I’ve seen so far. Maybe more scenes between Sujae and Chan would have been even better, but this drama has nothing to envy to other romance. The chemistry between them two was so so good.The acting was great too. 💕💕
Spoiler : I really think that Choi Taekook’s suicide was the best way to have an end for his character. Juhan has now to live alone without his dad to whom he practically gave his life by letting him control everything, and his daughter. I was septic in front of the character of Yoonsang, not fixed enough on his position near his father and Sujae. He did at least a good deed with the files.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED! Lowkey underrated?
Honestly, this drama sort of took me by surprise - I originally wanted to watch it because of the main cast and I love the male lead but man... I actually really did not care for the romance AT ALL.Also, they did a GREAT job of keeping you on your toes until the LAST episode - I feel like other dramas by like 14/15 they slow down and show all the happy ever afters...
Instead, I was so focused on the rivalry between the main character and the antagonist!! (MAJOR props to his acting - the father specifically, absolutely astounding and portrayed his character with such amazing display of pride, power, and intelligence)!!
I knew it would be a revenge story but MAN just some of the plot twists really had my JAW dropped and angry, sad yet hopeful and another ride of emotions - except this was to an extreme. Some things, I don't know if others saw it coming but I was just like??? how people were related and at times I really thought "good" characters were BAD but ended up being "good" LOL
I also LOVE a story that just has a strong female protagonist - it's not as often as male ones and just loved the drive and pressure felt throughout!!
Also overall, I think the cast were perfect! Each and everyone played such good roles suited to their aesthetic, character, and attributes. You could really see the professionalism, patience, and corruptness of each and everyone - I can't stop raving about the casting.
It's been a while since I've been addicted to a drama and the cliff hangers left me wanting more. Would recommend, especially if you love a GOOD revenge and an EARNED one!

Romance is not the focus of this drama though it's there. It's more about Revenge!!
I really enjoyed this drama. I just wish more was expounded in the final episode. I absolutely love Gong Chan & Soo's character & interactions. The side characters did a great job. I truly recommend this drama. The plot was good. But I was looking for justice. I feel some characters should have been punished severely for the crimes committed, but they just got a slap on the wrisk. The crimes were serious. So that part was hard to swallow. As for the romance they could have done a better job of it, but it was cute. I love me some Gong Chan. the way cry is so very cute. some people said the Ml & Fl had no chemistry. I beg to differWas this review helpful to you?

This is what happens when a girlboss lawyer refuses to stay down, no matter who tries to bury her.
Why Her? follows Oh Soo Jae — a brilliant lawyer turned professor — as she fights corruption, old secrets, and questionable romance.Disclaimer: This review is 100% my opinion — I’m not here to hate, just to share my thoughts! Also, SPOILERS AHEAD, so proceed with caution if you haven’t watched yet. Watch it, come back and let’s see if you agree. Let’s keep the discussion respectful and fun! 💕
The Good
A Plot That Actually Held Up in Court
For a 16-episode legal drama with revenge, corruption, murder, and romance, it never lost momentum. The pacing had purpose, and every episode gave just enough to keep you hooked without tipping its hand too soon. When a drama leans into its own complexity and still keeps the viewer locked in? That’s not just good writing, it’s a rare achievement.
Oh Soo Jae Was That Girl
From the very first scene, Soo Jae walked in like the building owed her rent. Calculated, sharp, emotionally armored and yet still deeply human. Whether she was wiping blood off her face, shutting down political pawns, or casually threatening billionaires, she never lost control.
Every Thread Wove the Same Tapestry
You have to respect a writer who remembers their own plot. The fact that Jin Ki’s daughter, Chan’s sister, the three spoiled sons, Se Pil, Hansu Bio — literally everything — tied back into the main plot was so satisfying. Every loose end got resolved, every puzzle piece snapped into place. And let’s be honest, the only unanswered question was what we’re supposed to do with ourselves now that it’s over. And honestly? I’m okay with that.
The Bad
Oh Soo Jae: Girlboss… or Loyal Employee #457?
Let’s talk about that ending. After years of enduring Tae Kook’s manipulation, betrayal, and literal criminal coverups, Oh Soo Jae’s “final form” was a small firm and a university classroom? Sure, peace over power is valid, but it felt like she settled more than she triumphed. She walked straight into the lion’s den, vowed revenge, and then quietly filed paperwork for ten years instead. She spent years doing every vile thing he ordered her to do, only for it to amount to… basically nothing.
What made it worse was the irony: she called Jin Ki out for his decade of silence while doing the exact same thing. Like he literally faked her child’s death. Hello?
Chan: Boundary Issues in a Cinnamon Roll Wrapper
There’s persistent, and then there’s Gong Chan. Every time he showed up uninvited, declared he was sleeping at her house, or forced his “support” during trauma cooldown moments, I couldn’t help but cringe. Soo Jae repeatedly told him he was crossing the line, yet he kept vaulting over it like it wasn’t even painted. It gave strong “I know what’s best for you even though you said no” energy.
He didn’t respect her boundaries, and while Soo Jae eventually let him in, it doesn’t erase the manipulative undertone and the fact that he took advantage of every crisis. I just couldn’t stand how persistent and boundary-stomping he was and how the show expected us to swoon over it.
How Was Everyone Okay With The Teacher-Student Thing?
Let’s be blunt: it’s not just about age. It’s about power dynamics. Soo Jae was his professor. He called her “Ms. Oh.” She graded his papers. And she kissed him before midterms. That alone should have been enough for HR intervention or, at the very least, a serious conversation.
Jae Yi’s Death Felt Emotionally Manipulative
Why did Jae Yi have to die? I’m still irritated about it. That plot twist did nothing except slap Soo Jae with extra pain for shock value. Either the baby should’ve stayed dead at birth, or Jae Yi should’ve stayed alive. Pick one.
Having her survive just so she could get hit by a truck out of nowhere was so unnecessary; especially since the accident itself made no sense. She looked both ways. It was a quiet road. The truck should’ve seen her from a mile away. Why did no one see it until the last second? The whole thing was tragic for no good reason, and it honestly knocked the show down to an 8/10 for me. Sometimes sad for the sake of sad just feels cheap and this was one of those times.
Chan’s Cellmates: Friendship by Vibes Only
Let’s break this down: Chan was in prison for allegedly murdering his own sister. So when two older cellmates decided to befriend him and help him build a new life… how did they just know he didn’t do it? I mean we know he didn’t do it, but without knowing, how would you know? The evidence was mounting and he even said he did it during the prison tussle he got into. So what made them stop and think “I know he said he did it and all the evidence points to him, but I just know he didn’t do it”..? We got no backstory, no heart-to-heart, no “we’ve seen injustice before” bonding moment, just instant loyalty.
Money Is a Real Villain and That’s the Scariest Part
Honestly? The show felt almost too real in its depiction of elite corruption. What’s wild is that if you swapped out the names for real-life companies and politicians, you wouldn’t even blink. Coverups, false trials, bribery, buried evidence—it’s horrifying how plausible all of it is. The only thing that broke realism? That the rich people actually got exposed. Because in real life, they don’t always get courtroom monologues and public shame. They get settlements, NDAs, promotions, and vacations.
Justice Had Great Lighting, But No Teeth
I think what disappointed me most about the ending, besides Soo Jae’s half-baked “happy” ending, was that justice didn’t even feel properly served. When Tae Kook died, it wasn’t satisfying. It wasn’t earned. It was a sudden exit-stage-left that robbed the audience of watching him feel the consequences.
And what happened to the rest of the villains? Chairman Seong Beom? Hansu Bio? Assemblyman In Soo? The show hinted they’d face fallout but never showed it. So yeah, the ending didn’t hit nearly as hard as it could have, and it felt like it skipped the final chapter just to give Gong Chan and Soo Jae their umbrella moment. Cute. But not enough for a show this good.
Final Thoughts
This show was a near masterpiece, in my opinion. I was hooked from the second I hit play. With Oh Soo Jae being an absolute icon and the crime twist keeping every episode tense, what wasn’t to love? Even when I reached the end, the parts that annoyed me didn’t ruin the experience.
And honestly? If a drama can keep me glued to the screen, not drag things out just to hit 16 episodes, and give me a female lawyer lead who chews men up and spits them out, then I’m not complaining. Well, not too much.
Next time, just keep the student crushes out of the syllabus and we’re good.
~~~
What did you think of this show? It’s still one of my favourites despite its issues. If I choose to watch a show more than once, you know it’s a fav!
Did you like the relationship between Oh Soo Jae and Gong Chan or are you normal? Joking, you’re great 😉
Gripping with a rushed yet satisfactory ending
Another law mystery drama in this year's plate, Why Her started strong, thanks to an amazing performance by See Hyun Jin. The premise is simple, a goal of reaching to the top, due to unfair past behaviour by everyone.In a world full of injustice, there seems to be no hope of going up against big corporations that can easily influence various institutions in society.
Although fictional, characters like Chairman Han, Assemblyman Lee, and Chairman Choi represent a portion of the powerful in today’s society, who abuse the law for their personal gain.
But in the end, there is an end to their abuse of power that disgraces the justice system. The collapse of their empires is also caused by their own misdeeds, which have always been at risk to be exposed.
The pacing was well maintained, although it suddenly rushed in when the 14th episode aired, with multiple layers coming and ending within moments, without giving a proper enclosure. The finale was cliche and had nothing extraordinary, but what made me feel good about the finale is that justice prevails in the end, no matter what.
My Rating : 8/10
It's about women's dignity, family, friendship & love!
I LOVE this drama and definitely rewatch it! I love all the casts, especially main leads and their acting.I love how bitter sweet the story had, and those mixed feeling that we got like confuse, excited, anger, sad, happy, heartbroken.. you can get it all from this drama.
The ending is a bit rush, but overall the story successfully make me curious.. and the more episode we watch, the more surprising events happened. The truth is unfolded bit by bit.
I love all of the drama ost, the camera angles, and the scenery in many scenes too.
For those who are expecting steamy romance, of course this drama is not the choice, because this drama's genre is basically about law, mystery and thriller. Romance is not the main genre but you can feel heartwarming scenes from slight romance between younger guy and older women, between student and lecturer, between a defendant and lawyer.
It's not just about admiration toward someone, but also an unconditional love and its fate. I strongly recommend this drama!
This drama also teach us so many meaningful lesson about family, friendship and career.
It will be hard to move on from this drama.. I really wish they can make season 2 with the same cast :)
Leads are guilty of having an unexciting basis of romance, your honor
A revenge-vengeance drama that revolves around the law and legal processes. Subjectively, it may end up having a weak overall impact among other law-based dramas, still, it is clear that they successfully wrap the whole concept in sixteen episodes with a satisfying ending. The star of the show is a well-known lawyer who was portrayed by Seo Hyun Jin, a real gem in the industry. Once again, she gives birth to another memorable character with her intense acting skills and consistently holding a firm grip as Oh Soo Jae. Frankly, the show started in a frail manner but managed to survive during its last few episodes. These episodes lifted the excitement and tension between the protagonist's side and the antagonist team.However, let me direct your attention to the disappointing chemistry between the leads. Firstly, I am beyond proud to witness Hwang In Youp’s growth with his first lead role in Korean Drama. Regardless of how much of a fan I am, I can’t help but disenchant his character as Gong Chan. It is not as remarkable the way I anticipated it to be. I plead to disappointment that the number one downfall of the show is the romance itself. It broke the blistering atmosphere that the plots had given from time to time. They have poor chemistry in which one looks too mature and the other seems childish in the way he keeps on pestering the other one with his direct and pushy personality. It was uncomfortable to watch a student who crosses the line to pursue his professor. Despite this, there’s a single moment wherein I curled a smile after hearing this line, “My heart is worth 70 million dollars.” It was drunkenly spoken with innocence and cuteness.
I also want to praise the villainous characterization of Heo Joon Ho. This man suited this kind of challenging role but it’s somehow funny that he always had an intelligent son who would betray him later on for the story to progress. I’m speaking with his on-screen children, Yoon Na Moo from Come and Hug Me, and Choi Yoon Sang from this drama. Speaking of which, I grasp my forehead for the second’s lead dissatisfactory ending with almost no closure at all. He immediately vanished after lending help to expose the devil's deeds that his father and brother committed. He contributes almost nothing to the story, but Nam Choon Poong already holds this title. The way they ended up the story may be up for a second season, if and only if the producers and staff behind this decision to have another one.
Nevertheless, I, therefore, conclude that Why Her established a fine trademark in K-Drama for offering Oh Soo Jae, T-K Law Firm, and some of the things that left memories to the audience. It was still a good series because it made me feel irritated and upbeat for its twists, the same way that other legal-based dramas gave me.
