Excellent cast and direction; good series that flattens out
Wonderful cast and direction. But to me the series seemed to split, bog down, and then fall apart. When this happens, and the series has both a superb cast and fine director, then it’s either the writer or the promo people behind the scenes wrapping things up instead of coming to closure. Or both. At any rate, the first half is excellent and totally involving, quite intricate and an emotional roller coaster. Second half didn’t seem to match the tempo, and characters were flipped so much it was sometimes not very believable. But I did like the series, which is why I was disappointed by the pacing and seeming flattening out. Yet the cast is really great throughout. Recommended with reservations. Was this review helpful to you?

It startet out great and...
This review contains a few spoilers. After watching the first episodes, I was delighted with this drama. I thought I had finally found something interesting and suspenseful until the very end. I couldn't be more wrong. About halfway through the drama, something started to go wrong, and it only got worse from there.
But let's start from the beginning. The main character is framed for being a wanted con man, is detained by the police and ends up in prison, where he awaits the start of his trial. At first, the main character cannot find himself in a new situation, but later he starts fighting for survival. He tries to find out who framed him, and who Big Mouse really is. At this stage, the story is incredibly engaging, and the viewer follows the development with bated breath.
And suddenly... bam!
We are entering a road full of plot holes and we have the impression that the writers wanted to create something original by force, but they ran out of ideas. As a result, instead of a great drama, it turned out to be average at best.
What did I dislike the most?
First, in the first half of the drama, we see the development of the main character. He is no longer a naive young man who is guided by ideals. He begins to understand that in order to survive in the brutal world he finds himself in, he must be smart and stay one step ahead of his opponents. We also see his enemies starting to lose so they get nervous. The fight begins to be balanced, and at times we have the impression that the scales of victory are tipping in favor of our hero.
At the end, it turns out that the whole fight is for nothing and our hero loses, so he finally kills his rival.
I also didn't like the story of the main character's wife. I don't like unhappy endings in this type of drama, so I hate that the writers decided to kill her off. Besides, she was a nurse, she had medical knowledge, I don't understand why she didn't do anything to save herself, or at least try to save herself when she knew that she had been in contact with radioactive water.
Not to mention the many smaller plot holes. Like what happened to the main villain's son in the end? What exactly did the mysterious laboratory do? Why hasn't the true story of the prisoner framed for the serial murders been revealed? Many people write that the ending was unnecessarily rushed. I agree, some threads needed clarification.
All in all, not a drama I would recommend to a friend. On the contrary, I'd say he or she can skip watching this one. And that's what I'm telling you.
Of course, everyone is free to have his or her own opinion but for me it's a miss.

SUCH BIG POTENTIAL WASTED
Title says it all, I just finished watching this and I don't even have the energy to rant because of the disappointment because of the amount of wasted potential and I really don't know how high the writers were cause like wtf is up with randomly dropping sub-plots of Hye-jin's death, Jihoon's 100 billion won + this drama was genuinely something that could've been a masterpiece, because the FL's entire arc in the drama was so promising and the way the rushed everything in the end, I may have been a bit too harsh with the rating it's just that the way they destroy everything they've built in the end leaves nothing much to salvage to cherish as a viewer, but well atleast they did a good job at ruining it disastrously well in the last episode, like worst closure ever 💀🤡👍🏽Was this review helpful to you?

The BM was not as big as they told me.
Let´s start from the fact that I usually don´t write reviews. This is only to feel this space cause I´ll probably give some spoiler down bellow.I can´t say this was a waste, the drama keeped me hooked till the very end (almost the very end). Now, did it end in a satisfactory way? Can I say I´ll rewatch it? I don´t know what to think about it now.
---------------------------
Ok, I enjoyed it till half and a littler more througth ep. 16. I was expecting a BIG plot twist and it was that there were not plot twist, which is high disapoining considering the bunch of things they dropped on the first eps they could have turn into one.
I was waiting for the last two eps to fill some of our questions, but guess what. There were even more questions added and none of them was really solved. For me there is not plot hole until the drama is done, cause I believe in the end they can answer every question viewers can have. So, since this one is done I must say there where quite a lot of plot holes.
Here my complains:
-First of all Big mause was not big mouse from the begining and I´ll accept it.
-What was the reason for PCH childhood flashbacks?
-Who was the son of the chairman?
-How the heck did CDH died that soon? And why was the timing so convenient for PCH to come and witness it by himself?
-I googled it and google say a patient with leuchemia can live 5 years (aprox) after being diagnosed, but they died so soon. (I can be wrong in this one since I don´t have it, so I don´t really know).
-How did they found where CDH was hiding the gold? And where JH was?
-And the gold dumped in the hold at the begining of the show? what was it for?
-Everything was solve so smoothly, that is really the opossite of satisfactory.
-BM revelation? I was expecting more and holding till the very end waiting for them to tell me that was not it.
What was that end? I´ll ask that 1000 times cause I´m shooked and want to know.
I was expecting was MH death (not that soon) and they gave it to us. And that was all, like, that was all.
I was thinking this was a well writeng drama and how this came out like this at the end? I can´t say I did not enjoyed this one, but I won´t say that I recomend it or rewatch it either. Cause why? why would i?
They should made this into 20 eps drama if they did not have enough time to wrap things up.

Good but could have been excellent
Overall I really liked this drama. Though the ending was sad, but it was justifiable. I do want to add some shortcomings,1)The ending seemed rushed, it was like reading a novel , you are connecting with all character in each chapter but in end, there is one paragraph written with one line for each character, ending it in a good note, by this you don’t really connect to any of the emotion of protagonist.
2) In last few episode, a new plot was added, so till last episode I waited for a new character to appear, and none appeared, this was really un-necessary for the main plot…

Not exactly what i signed for...
It seems lately i mostly disagree with the Public Opinion as i see and rate Dramas under a different prism! After all this is the beauty of diversity.
Popular or unpopular ,this is my opinion.Big Mouth is not the Super-Duper Hit everyone says it is.Not to me.Don't get me wrong. Is a good Drama. But nothing more than this.It has not the big wow factor i expected.I will be honest, i struggled a lot to push the next episode button especially in the first period of the Drama..I wasn't excited to see what will happen .I couldn't connect with the characters.I was bored with those flashbacks.I wouldn't care less about the couple's past and love story.I didn't care about their sweet and emotional moments.Fortunately those scenes weren't long enough so that is basically the reason i didn't drop or put it on hold,at least for a while.
In early episodes everything was just Meh!The most plain scenario, characters who just not fit to the shoes the writers put them in.I was extremely disappointed.
The main lead wrongly or not, accused and/or trapped and he ended in prison to be in a very short time the Big Boss around there. He suddenly became a Criminal Mastermind when in episode 1 he was introduced to us as not a very smart person. He took the Bar exams twice til he passed and " He is also an infamous lawyer with a very low rate of success " as synopsis says. And he wasn't a notorious murderer or a Big Mafia boss to earn the fear and respect of the other prisoners.
He was a conman,he was, hypothetically or not, scamming people, stole their money etc. With such a cute face and young at age i had hard time to believe he was ferocious and scary. How on earth evil criminals bought it and were shitting their pants at his sight? And seriously who would ever think that an "old dog" an "experienced" prisoner/cellmate could be a shield to him and take a stab instead? When he barely knew him? Even if he promised to grant him a favor still risking his life was too much to take.
Do i also have to ask another obvious question? On what ground he was walking around throwing promises and favors he could never fulfill? Because by that time we clearly saw he didn't have the background for all these.Neither the money nor the connections, etc etc. Iam sorry but all those stupid details really bothered me. Don't mention the excellent fight skills he just got out of the blue and he was kicking asses like a Pro.When he himself even said he never threw a punch in his entire life.I get the "survival instinct" but i mean come on!That was far fetched.Seriously i was surprised noone mentioned the obvious here.It was only me who was annoyed by all those unrealistic details?
I read many compared this with Insider!!No,no and NO!Please don't.No need to get into this fight!Lol!.To me Big Mouth is a distant relative of Insider.
Big Mouth is a bad imitation.Little something from Defendant (the warden Officer and the prison guard, cellmates bond)
Doctor Prisoner(with the accidents and the fake sick leaves)
Insider (with the Vips and their special ward)
The chain of events most of the time just not make any sense. And even if few things are explained in the next episode(s),still nothing seems plausible.
Writers give me something to chew on.I can't swallow nonsense so easily.Don't give me Dyspepsia.
What irritates me the most is the fact that the story is build on so many lousy details, you just can't ignore it!
I lost my interest about who the real Big Mouse was,too soon.Normally i would have spent hours during the whole show to solve the puzzle. Here i didn't even bother.I was watching episodes using the minimun brain cells.Too bad and too sad because the premises and the hype was high enough to draw my attention but....
The main idea inside writers' head was really good. But they lost their way somehow. In their try to create suspense they only create chaos. We have a saying in Greece the best English adoption is "storm in a teacup" That is the alternative title i could give to Big Mouth.
Half of the Drama was full of fillers. So many unnecessary scenes. As already mentioned, the flashbacks. Also many fighting scenes inside prison.Didn't really add to the plot.Seriously it could be 8 episodes and have a more solid and substantial story.
The bad guys is a bunch of idiots.Stupid characters, iam sorry i couldn't take them too seriously as they acted like spoiled kids.Bragging, laughing and feel superior, like Gods. They have power and money but no brains to use. I love evil characters. Here everyone is just laughable.Only mayor was a decent char among them. Every hero should have his opponent, an equally smart Villain.Well..here the hero obviously is not super smart so he gets the Villains he deserves after all..
The reason the Lawyer was chosen and dragged into this chaos, wasn't sufficient enough to me,to justify all the mess.
I know some tables have turned at the end and our protagonist became smarter, more capable and more efficient . And i would applaud all of these if was a smooth and believable ride.I could accept it easier if this persona was gradually built-up from the beginning instead acquiring all these traits out of the blue.
Of course the Drama has pros too.I never said is trash.
The Acting was really good and Lee Jong Suk although i have never watched any of his work, was excellent.I will definitely check out his other projects as i find him too talented.
Also to be fair, some of the latter episodes were good enough to make me watch it with more intense. But even so i had already made my mind and nothing could really save it.
As i said many times i don't mind any ending.Happy.. sad..open..Expected or not.I really don't mind,i can take all.But what i don't like is over and melo dramatic endings just for the sake of a "Big Exodus" which are totaly lame and unnecessary.Im not that kind of viewer to be too emotional over those endings.
I gave 6,based on the overall feeling this series left me.During all those 16 eps i never, not even once, had a moment of excitement.I felt the thrill and the suspense was poorly cooked and left an unpleasant taste in my mouth.
In other words this is how i felt about it....
Door bell rings.I open the door and there is a huge gift box with a fancy red ribbon.I take it inside.I see the box(is the 8,8 rating)I feel so excited! My heart beats fast.
I open the box and...there is another box inside.I got surprised but then i thought "ok the sender wants to create suspense..."
I open the second box and guess what?Another box!Ok this time iam disappointed and frustrated.
"I get this far i can't quit now" I open the box...Hmmm! "Where is my present??Is this a sick joke or what?"Iam already swearing hard..
I open another box.Inside there is a...lollypop.An orange flavored..The flavor i hate the most!
The End!

Best Kdrama I've watched in 2022
Done watching the last episode, loved the ending,I like that Mayor Choi Doha died than just rot in prison, I also like that in the end, Park Changho is still Big Mouse. There's some plot holes though like I was so hyped about the chairmans son, Miho also deserves better, but still this is my favorite drama in 2022 so far. Highly Recommended.🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀

truly one of the best crime dramas I have watched to this day
If you are a huge fan of crime thrillers and things like that you are going to love this! I couldn't have chosen a better cast for this, as the actors did amazing work and had great chemistry between them.I liked that this show kept me on my toes the entire time, and made me doubt anything and anyone. Truthfully, the plot twists made me regret watching the show while it was airing because I would have to wait another week to find out what happens next. The plot is very smart and well written and so are the characters (especially Jerry, lol). While they do have good intentions they go to extreme lengths for their goals and I loved that. It basically becomes a game of power and you're watching to see who will prevail. I would definitely recommend this.

The best storyline
I actually have been trynna search for a good drama with a good storyline and good actors and guess what I actually found it . I am a big fan lee jong suk so that’s why I am watching this drama but at first I thought the male lead would leave the female lead but they stood up for each other. The romance is good and it also has a nice thrill in it. I was looking for a romance drama so at first I wasn’t convinced by the cover but then when I started watching it I fell in love cause I was tryna look for a good drama for a long time so I had finally found one. I asked my friends if they have recommendations but the recommendations they gave , I had watched all of them so if you have recommendations please let me know .Was this review helpful to you?

ONE OF THE BEST KDRAMA I'VE WATCHED IN 2022
At first I just became curious as to why this drama was compared in many headlineswith regards to its surpassing the rating of today's webtoon. I though it was just a hype. But then, LJS is the ML, so why not give it a try. I haven't been disappointed in any of his dramas, so might as well watch.
I found the first episode boring, but till gave it a chance, and now.. I'm hooked. the scenes at the prison, the tactics, the politics seems so realistic.
The thrill, the excitement, the clues, in search for the BIG MOUSE has got me till episode 7. You'll be wanting for more..
highly recommended.

A MUST SEE!
It was a rollercoaster. I went into the show with minimal expectations. Initially, I thought it would be a simple story of revenge and reuniting a family (LJS and Yoona), but it was so much more. Almost every episode of Big Mouth gripped me from start to finish, I admit the first 2 episodes start off somewhat slow, but once they get the ball rolling, it is non-stop. Each week I would rack my brain, and reasses the clues laid out in the previous week's episodes to try to predict what will come next. I came close once or twice but never could I have guessed those twists. The mystery, intrigue, the suspense, the uncertainty, the reveals. Everything was so expertly done. The pace of the reveals was perfect, at no point did I feel as though I had too much or too little information. I often thought I knew just enough to suspect everybody of being Big Mouse. With this cloud of suspicion hanging over them, the way the characters were set up made it almost impossible for Big Mouse to be who they were. Even after the reveal, I still doubted whether that was their true identity but looking back, it fit so perfectly and that person was on my list of suspects but at some point, I had crossed them off for lack of motivation. What could they gain from being Big Mouse? Why carry out this elaborate scheme just to get to the even more mysterious paper? The dots connected and the picture it painted was one of longstanding grudges and revenge. I loved every minute of it!Was this review helpful to you?
