Slow & Cheesy with surprisingly nice moments

From the start I wasn’t super hooked on this drama, but it had some very nice and touching moments, and some interesting and unexpected character development.

The cheesy comparisons to weather were mostly boring and too much of a stretch for me to enjoy. I get it, it’s a weather show, but it sometimes felt like the story was being shoehorned into the metaphor, vs. the metaphor complementing the story. I liked the moral complexity of the characters, everyone is trying their best even if that sometimes wasn’t “good enough” or “kind” or “right”. I was way more sympathetic to the second leads than I thought and grew to be rooting for them and their character growth. Their past horrible behaviour is never excused or forgotten but everyone moves on with their lives eventually.

Things that might annoy you:
- Indecisive leads
- Cheating characters portrayed sympathetically
- People making the same mistakes over and over
- Very annoying pushy Mom (not new in kdrama but UGH)
- Fast development of romance in the first couple episodes
- Manipulative Dad / addiction issues
- chemistry between main leads was so-so

Things you might like:
- Learning about weather forecasting
- Morally complex depiction of the second leads and other flawed characters
- Some very silly moments
- Fast development of romance in the first couple episodes
- Sister & Nerd (Jin Taekyung & Shin Seokho) romance was so cute & funny!
- Slower paced - easier to not get hooked and get no sleep
- Kind of hilarious how seriously everyone takes the weather forecast in that bureau

Possibly trigger warnings (SPOILERS!):
Cheating, gambling addiction, manipulation, suicide (flashback), parent death, child neglect, cancer, anaphylactic allergy, discussion of abortion.

Overall not the best, especially in comparison to other dramas being released at the same time, but it is heart warming and fairly easy to watch if you aren’t triggered by any of the character’s respective issues.

Drama for more mature audiences

This drama should definitely be rated higher overall. People were expecting fluffy love like what's wrong with secretary kim, but this drama has so much more to offer than just comedy and fluff. It was emotional and displayed a lot of the human struggles people normally face in their lives and relationships. Much of the complaints seem to stem from the fact that there aren't enough "lovey" scenes between PMY and SK, but I thought they had great chemistry! All the characters fight and have their frustrating moments, but it only more clearly shows their humanity and the realistic character development.

Loved and Wanted More! Definitely a Must Watch

I had been anticipating this drama since I found out it two of my Favorite Stars and I loved it! Park Min Young and Song Kang were Wonderful Together! This drama was addictive to me, I loved how much they really incorporated the weather into this drama! That’s what made this so interesting and unique to me, each episode and what was going on with our characters lives coincided so perfectly with the ever changing weather. From start to finish it was done so well. This show starts off with a bang! Our main leads are caught up in finding out their partners are cheating & they all just so happen to work in the same line of work. I was hooked from the start! Our heartbroken main leads happen to get entangled together and it’s Everything!!! You go from devastated and sobbing to dying laughing and then to squealing! I waited and binged my two episodes every week! Song Kang’s character (Lee Shi Woo) was so smart and driven, he was very serious about his work and was persistent on his findings - it was soooooo sexy! He was a very complex character, I loved how he could go from cute and adorable to serious and intense. (GAHHHH, y’all help I’m so In Love with this Man!!) Park min young who plays Director Jin ha-Kyung was a workaholic, strict and very straight laced. When she is cheated on by her fiancé, who works in the same company as her, her work life is all any of her coworkers can talk about. And then to show just how small of a world it is, the woman her fiancé cheated with and then decides to marry happens to be a reporter who works very closely with their station. And because it can’t just end there, KMA’s New Forecaster just happens to be Lee Shi Woo, the boyfriend of that Mistress Reporter and the man who our Director Jin happens to have a one night stand with! When i tell you this show is full on the drama I mean it’s FULL of the DRAMA!!! You just can’t stop watching! It’s addictive. I Loved the coworkers and how they are each going through their own struggles, I felt this show did a really good job on showing reality. Another thing I have to hand it to is the characters grow as the story goes on and you learn to forgive, showing director Jin forgiving her Ex- fiancé after all he did to her and him coming through and owning up to all his mistakes so they could peacefully move forward with their new lives was beautifully done. I could go on and on with all the reasons I loved this show. I definitely highly recommend, It’s a worth rewatching. The only reason i gave it 9/10 was because they rushed those last two episodes, like whyyyy. I did feel like that last ep was rushed to a quick ending. While it was still nice and okay, they could have given us more that that 15 minute wrap up ending. I’m sobbing, it was a short and sweet closing but I’m so hooked on them that I really wanted more.

Great character development

I really loved this drama. The weather forecasting element is actually really interesting, and they did such a good job of storytelling how the decisions the characters make at work impact the daily lives of people. That was a really nice touch. What I liked the most was how the characters learn and grow, both in their personal lives and at work. There's plenty of romance, but also lots of themes on leadership, burnout, discrimination/sexism, making and learning from mistakes. Some dramas really only manage to talk about the romance or the work challenges, but this one did both well! And there were no side-characters that were dull or sub-plots that were uninteresting. Really just a lovely drama that's well worth watching!

Disappointing and at times infuriating

Started out good, I enjoyed the first couple episodes a lot but then It just fell off. Had some good moments but the plot development was disappointing and some characters were really unbearable.

I couldn’t stand the dynamic the main characters had with their cheating ex’s.Hated them as a side couple. Was enjoying watching the downfall of their marriage but then they were given a happy ending?! The NERVE that man had to go to his ex fiancé of 10 years who he cheated on and brag about how the woman he cheated with is pregnant….!!

The writing of this show just wasn’t it… spent more time being angry about the show than enjoying it.

Glorifying cheating couples??

You can tell me I'm evil, but I really was hoping the second lead couple didn't have a happy ending. Are they glorifying cheating couples or what? No matter how many excuses the couple made, like how they have low self-esteem, or falling in love at first sight, or that she just wanted to marry someone, in the end, they are all excuses. Nothing can justify a man cheating on his fiance right before their wedding, and also letting her find it in the most disgusting and cruelest way possible. And no matter what excuse she gives, it doesn't justify the fact that she was cheating on her boyfriend with an almost married man. If her boyfriend has an anti-marriage person, she could always break up and meet someone else in a just and fair way. Instead, she just goes and cheats on a guy who already has a fiance. Both of them shamelessly justify themselves which was so annoying. And what? The ex-fiances become friends in the end?? after all, he had hurt her but he was still shameless enough to come in front of her and dump all the accusations on the victim. And the two victims fall in love and try to build their relationship with the support of their cheating ex.

The only thing that is interesting was the weather forecast department and how it works. It's an eye-opener to see how much weather forecasters work so hard at their job just so we could know that it's going to rain tomorrow so we could just grab an umbrella before leaving home.

Not good-Not bad

Honestly I was hyped for it, but at some point it just got SO boring, the main couple's chemistry was no it (seemed more like a nephew-aunt relationship😳) even the ML had more chemistry with the second FL, it was cool whenever they showed things about the weather but other than that just boring, the ending was also very predictable and flat.

I wish they would've had explanied more about Lee Siu's relationship with his dad, and showed more where this same relationship had improved towards the ending.

Dong Han's storyline was also boring, we see this type of storylines in every show so I do believe they could've done better.

I loved more the second lead's relationship,it was interesting how Gijun improved as a partn
That being said, I give this show 7.5 , I hope netflix incluyes better shows next time :(

Hmm.

Motivation to watch: Park Min-young.

Suggestions for you:
1. Only watch it if you are a big fan of one of the main leads.
2. If you are a fan of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency.

Summary:
1. The side stories are better than the main story.
2. The side romance is also better than the main lead's romance.
3. The broken side of the romance is not heart-breaking.
4. The touching part of the main story is not touching, yet the side story is still interesting.

Forecasting Love and Weather (2022) - one of the dramas that I really like at first since it talks about weather and the life of the people behind the weather reports. I think what this drama is lacking is that the focus is mainly unto the weather and not in the character development of the characters in the drama itself. I find it rather odd as well between the relationship of the “exes” in the drama, it doesn’t sit well with me that is why I cannot fully appreciate the whole drama. Overall I felt the romance somehow but the feels is really not the same comparing it to other dramas that I have been watching together with this one.

✒We Make Our Own Hail ⛈ Frustration, Love, & Workplace Interference °6.8° °good°

Here's a lite mist to refresh between the storms of heavier dramas. It's often as bland as the smile on Park Min-young's face throughout. For a show about st🌀rms, h🔥t, c☃ld, & tempest⚡this show is surprisingly uneventful. Can they make forecasting the weather exciting? Interesting?

It is interesting to see the decision-paradigm utilized to forecast a heavy rain warning issued in ep1 & the controversy fallout. They cut from a high tech, nearly sterile appearing office to people in the mud sandbagging the riverbanks, a rushing dam release & more ripple effect entailing effort & 💰. A heavy rain advisory ain't just hot air. May I presume that most of us were thoroughly unaware of the contentious nature between fishermen & the weather administration?

As for the characters, their minds are always on the skies. JHK (Jin Ha Kyung) is a ⭐ on the rise at the MA. Her pressure's rising, too. It's hard to stay 🌞 when she wants to rain hellfire on her fiance. "Sometimes I feel like she can't take what she's owed in life from anyone," her mother says. Miss Hospital Corners is so uptight that her inflexible walk is difficult to watch w/o eclipse glasses. She's about to marry her longtime BF/coworker, but she gets ghosted right before the wedding & BF briskly marries someone else who works in the same building. Let the gossip & gawking start pouring down on our humiliated FL. She's played by Park Min Young who generates electric chemistry w/ every male lead. In FL&W's early scenes, either botox or filler washed away her facial expressions. It's distracting. FL&W doesn't utilize her well.

She isn't the only underutilized talent. Song Kang plays ML Lee Shi Woob, a geek. It's kind of a waste of his abilities, the primary one being a walking pheromone. He is downright pathetic in ep1, which strains the eyes more than JHK's over-stiff gate. Yoon Park, who plays ex-fiance Han Ki Joon, had a similar role in My Shy Boss(6.5) in which he retrogrades from Mr. Cool into Mr. Slight-Chance after turbulence, while adjusting his body language from confident to defeated marvelously. We see his pressure building from the past to the present in FL&W. Frustration & feelings of isolation became an arctic chill over time, because his fiance was married to her job. He slings sandbags - of sleaze - sometimes we don't notice a person in our life is sleazy because we see what we want to see & fail to be as attentive as we should be.

Then there's the ubiquitous mother: Kim Mi-kyung. She gets to have a temper tantrum in this one. It must have felt good. Lee Sung Wook plays Eom Dong Han from Team 2. He's a weather geek who chose to marry & have a child. Opting to work remotely, he continued to provide 💰, but denied them his presence for years, so his wife is bitter. She's using their daughter to vent her justified anger. That's a toxic, selfish act, & it's never okay. Jang So Yeon plays his wife, Lee Hyang Rae. She has to play someone who gets hit w/ extremely painful things in 'Something in the Rain'(8.6), & she handled it convincingly. She has gravitas. Jung Woon Sun as Jin Tae Kyung, & Moon Tae Yu, as Shin Seok Ho, round out the main cast. She's our FL's sister & a bit of a mess. He's an anal-retentive (capitalize that) meteorologist. They are the cold front that's blasted by a heatwave; their 2ndary 💓 is one of the best things in the show. As for the primary romance, it is usually cloudless skies. In FL&W we flow w/ the protags through daily life w/ constant changes in currents & humidity. Puffs of clouds will form, 💧 will fall, sometimes they get wet. At work there is virtually no protection from the hail of gossip. There's no dramatic typhoons or blizzards, just everyday existence.

Marriage is considered a life success, of sorts, but the married couples are the ones that are always fighting in FL&W. Being married washes up latent expectations that are not automatically met. It's also an extra weight of responsibility in taking on, in the form of a lifetime commitment, another person's burdens & struggles, putting up w/ failures, & also creating kids (more lives + more work + more struggles). Dong Han from Team 2 loves being a dad after being absent for so long, but soon he learns the agony that can come w/ it. The payoff is supposed to be more love. Nobody does it perfectly - Not you; not me. I've always joked that parenting is all about guilt. What I didn't know before is that loss & grief also taunt us w/ regret & guilt. It's a feeling that I would spare all. In one notable scene a now split up couple, each in new relationships where some of the same issues have manifested once again, have dinner together to discuss where they went wrong. They manage to have a constructive deconstruction of their relationship & how it got off course. Each could now see things about themselves & where they might need to improve. Alot of people who think that moving on to another 💓 will fix things are often disappointed. One mother talked about how the pettiness adds up, but it was a mistake for her to break up her first marriage. In our uber individualistic & rage-prone society we get mad at every little offense, but we forgive ourselves quite easily for the same things. For example, our newlyweds have kept some things from e/o. She used to live w/ her boyfriend & she never told her husband, because she was worried he wouldn't like it. (SK is more conservative about these things than the USA). He finds out, & he doesn't like it. He /really/ doesn't like it. This is a guy who used to live w/ his GF, whom he broke up w/ right before the wedding. Does he have any right to be offended? Q: Why is he blind to his own stuff? A: Because we all are🙈. One of the main reasons marriages suffer from a dreadful >50% divorce rate is because of 2nd & 3rd marriages, which have a terrible success rate. First marriages are still more likely to succeed than not. Alittle extra effort, the knowledge that you aren't a perfect mate either, & sincerely trying to see things from the other person's perspective may part the clouds & let the 🌞 in.

That is the theme of FL&W: Hang in there, keep at it & try to stay together, because: It's going to rain; a storm is brewing. The forecast looks ominous & it's best not to face it alone. Umbrellas send signals about relationships. Our FL thinks back to when her fiance held one over her head - when things were going well. She almost smiles until she remembers that the wedding's in a month, the deposit was never paid, & her fiance is gone with the wind. Taking on a decided chill, she walks away letting the rain soak her. The 2ndary couple, just beginning to realize their interest, admit to e/o how they feel & leave the restaurant as he holds her close under his ☔. The camera pans back to the table they just vacated to show a forgotten 🌂 they left behind: They only need one 🌂 now. They will brave the elements together. It's a lovely touch. There's definitely another theme that they are whispering down the lane: Gossip hurts. Nobody can mind h/h own business at the Meteorological Administration. We make our own hell. Why do we gossip? Pride. People have an insatiable compulsion to compare ourselves to others & tell ourselves that we are doing better by comparison. Those are just the lies we tell ourselves, folks. What does comparing oneself to a person w/ different skills, backgrounds, personalities, strengths, weakness, IQ, experiences, connections, challenges & the myriad of other variants even mean? It's the most worthless, empty thinking possible. Gossips are society's ice storms that leave destruction in their wake.

FLoW & FLaW - No one expects them to get it right every time. FL&W is often formulaic & uninspiring, along w/ some downright lackluster delivery. Yet it has plenty of solid elements. There's some truly cute & amusing scenes, but not until the show is 30% over. The 🌞 pokes through to shine brightly at times: Zoom in shots from satellite height down to ground level add excitement. There's cool shots of weather phenomena including a typhoon (which looks exactly like whipped cream on top of a delicious concoction which has always distracted me). The married-ex's apt has narcissist sized wedding pictures on the LR wall; their problems quickly become bigger than those 8ft × 10fts. When the AC breaks, everybody's sweating & fanning; cut over to Mr. OCD who looks cool as a 🥒 w/ his handheld fan. His carefully controlled life will be typhooned by our FL's sister. The restaurant scenes are cute. The first time our leads run into e/o they sit apart, one being too hot & the other too cold. Soon, they're sitting together, lookin cozy. The chef's reactions to them are closely monitored & add layers of warm enjoyment to these vignettes. The director turns a one night stand into a visual weather metaphor - I felt undone - it's exceptional. There is a scene w/ 4 men, 1 woman & 1 apt in ep7 that is pretty darn funny. It's a nice touch when the screen splits w/ the heads of our leads & her mother lined up to show the same exact downturned mouth. Many of the characters are going through similar struggles & end up mirroring e/o, either in uniformity or a contrast of opposites. It's good filmmaking. So, w/ what I now know, would I choose to watch it again for the first time? There's a 60% chance that I would.

And that's the 🔥 & the ☃brr of it. At many moments it's a little pedestrian & at others there's a good message, the acting is good, there are laughs, & our social intelligence is challenged. For some of us, the best value is that it's a mostly pleasant brainless watch if you want to do a mental shutdown - a thing as necessary as an occasional rainstorm.

I really loved some parts of this drama

Ok I was expecting this drama to be a mess and it turned out to be a mess with some really quality moments.
1- The beginning is VERY strong, one of the best starts for any drama. The middle portion is good too, but it loses a lot of the magic on the last episodes.
. The main couple and the "secret office couple" romance is GREAT, there are some plot twist at the beginning and cute little moments that left me with a big smile, like "wow ok they got me that was so cute"
. Second couple(sister) even if only enters the plots a bit later, it is 100% the best part of the closing episodes.
.With that said , these couples have great chemistry and I believe that it's one of the stronger sides of the show.
.Another great thing about it was the setting, there's more shows with forecasting all over it, but this goes in dept and I really felt like I was learning about it and felt the pressures that come with this line of work.
2- The Exs were meh, I was hoping for it to be more of a revenge show, but I wasn't really it. which is ok but at the end of the they I really couldn't care less about them. The female ex's problems with the ML even If I understand that they could cause a relationship to end and the ex of the FL feeling down because of the lack of attention(again if I understand). It didn't really make me appreciate the characters or side with them, at least to the point of they becoming almost as much of main characters as the main couple. Especially when the male ex is stalking and doing all sort of dumb thing.
3- other than that the music is good and the acting is ok too. I wouldn't watch it again, but I think the beginning is THAT strong that you should watch it and it will probably make you continue to the end.

[✓]: pros [❌]: cons
i've finished the series and it was a good watch overall, it's something to watch lightly when you just want to free your mind.

>In short:
What carried the show are the *main actors*, you eventually grow to love and empathize with them and their exceptional acting made up for other flaws of the show, which in my opinion lay in the *script*.

>In long:
Usually the plot flows naturally, but in certain occasions there have been things happening out of the blue or all of a sudden some events are not told in chronological order for no good reason but making you confused (mainly the jeju part tbh).
❌ Also a few episodes were just a repetition of the same scene with different characters (literally one episode was just a succession of character A goes to cafe to talk with character B).
Last problem of the script to my mind is that some characters lacked depth or were too polarised, especially the parents were made look evil/annoying all the time and we never got to know the actual reasons behind their obsessive behaviour. If they cared to add more layers to their personality they could have added to the show new interesting themes and we could have understood why the leads put up with their presence despite everything they've done.

❌ This lack of depth in characters probably affected the acting too: in fact i didn't really like the one of the FL older sister, it looked forced and out of place (not a fan of aegyo on a 40yo woman), and the one of the second leads that was a bit repetitive being made mostly of frowns mostly for the sFL and of disoriented expressions for sML.
Paradoxically the supporting roles (colleagues) had more in depth stories that explored their private lives, beliefs, worries by far more engaging and rich of themes than the story of the second leads.
This is probably the issue because of which many were dissatisfied with the couple of seconds leads: ML and FL relied so much on them for emotional and practical support, even after they had broken up with them in the worst way possible. It feels weird because we are given no reason why they still trust them sm and have a good friendship.

✓ Cinematography was fairly good, loved the references to weather to describe the feelings of the characters, it was really poetic.
✓ Talking about the weather, the office dynamics were represented so well, and you really get to know what it's like to work in that field. By the end of the drama i was fascinated by the art of forecasting weather, and how crucial it is for society, more than we would usually think.

✓ The plot also tackled a lot of thought provoking themes: parenting, professional relationships and growth, the importance of a team to rely on, different ways of parenting, office relationships, relationships at distance, emotional wounds and many more that are hidden throughout the series.
I appreciated that the romance wasn't exploited to add seggs scenes or excessively steamy kiss scenes, however i believe we needed to see more intimacy or affection between the FL and ML, like act of kindness, holding hands, words of affirmation ... i think sometimes their relationship lacked affection.

- Pace: regular, it flows well and easy to follow
- Ending: happy
- Trigger warnings: none ( you will find mentions of cancer, suicide, hospital, divorce tho but they're very circumscribed )
