A second chance story done right!
Great drama! It had many things I wanted to see in the drama like an Ex-GF getting humiliated properly after a bad breakup initiated by her. Or an Ex-GF seducing the ML when he tries the friendship card I so despise.
Yes, the romance was spectacular with a lot of well placed cliche troupes.
Though it has its fallacies too like it took too long for them to get together by K-Drama standards or how it really got boring afterwards. The episode they did get together was great but immediately after the passion just fizzled out like they aged many years all of a sudden...
The SML's story was quite boring and I wasn't able to get vested in it though the drama did give him a lot of screen time in the second half. Same with the second couple as well which ultimately was a lost cause.
Essentially a recommended watch!
Though watch out for the fallacies as they may ruin it for you. I for one will cut them out and have the glory of watching the series without!

Summer fling or Summer love, both can never be forgotten.
Choi Wooshik and Kim Dami reunite in this beautiful romance genre, synonymously known as Our Beloved Summer.Based upon a webtoon, the storyline contains my least favorite romance trope. Honestly I do mildly dislike this trope of a broken up couple to get together following a second lead syndrome, but I'm just so endeared of how the leads made it work!! (Yeokshii our power duo) It's also very very surprising how much Choi Wooshik (Choi Woong) owns a very very similar relatable personality like me. (And if you're the kind to enjoy you doing yourself, fantasize a therapeautical life and love lying under the sky on soft grass, you too, my lovely person!)
Our Beloved Summer is the hot cocoa to a chilly snowy night. It's enriched with romance, comedy, highschool lovers with a spoonful of documentary theme, and some side characters who are simps of the leads. It's overall such a comfort drama after masterpieces like Hometown Cha Cha Cha and Move To Heaven. You'll love it. <3

my fav drama
I'm re-watching this drama and it's incredible how only get's better!! The history, the OST, the actors, every little thing in 'our beloved summer' is perfectly put in the right place.Kim Da-mi and Choi Woo-sik have the chemistry, they know exactly how to act to make us emotional with their history, to make us understand the characters' problems.
It's impossible to dislike the main couple, each one with their own traumas and problems, which make us identify with them, which make us understand that life isn't perfect and always find the way back for what's unfinished.
The secondary characters also have a great history, they amuse us and show a true friendship.
I loved every detail and watch again just show me that I'm not wrong about this drama.

The leading cast, Choi Woo-Shik as Choi Woong and Kim Dami as Kook Yeon Soo did a wonderful job bringing their characters to life. Their chemistry was great and they were wonderful in expressing their emotions, not only in their dialogues but mostly in the intense raw emotions that they brought through body language and facial expressions.
Although there are some comedic moments, the drama provokes all kind of emotions as the main characters work on overcoming pain and understanding their emotions to be able to conquer their fears in order to love and trust each other. It is a wonderful drama; enjoy it.

Sweep under the rug and move on
It started well and was interesting. As it goes on, it makes me wonder whether my mindset or the story is the wrong one. The main couple interactions will give you butterflies in your stomach. It's like you're walking on a floor with many holes covered with pretty carpet. You won't notice the plot holes but once in a time, you will feel there are holes under your feet. It's nice not to have to see family conflicts mess but is it right to ignore the root problem between our main couple? It's frustrating to see FL doesn't try to understand ML's inner conflict and trauma which makes him hesitate to get back together. It's disappointing when ML asks FL to go together without considering FL's conditions first. Does being in a relationship mean only being together and fulfilling your own needs to be happy?STORY - When they were high schoolers, they bickered like cat and mouse while caring for each other at the same time like summer which is hot while also giving you a chance to go picnic or beach to enjoy the sun and have fun. Now they meet again after being grown-ups with their own scar but there is still that sparks hiding in the corner of their hearts. Seeing them face each other again try to make do with the past, deal with the present, and move on to life is exciting to watch.
I expected Kim Jiwoong will be our SML. He didn't cross the line but his doings with FL make me hate him. In earlier episodes, he's pictured as a very loyal and caring friend. He's done great as ML's best friend. The story going on, I started doubting that and ended with decided to ignore it (again).
ACTING - Do we still need to discuss about Kim Dami and Choi Wooshik's acts? Their act, facial expressions, eyes, and small gestures will pull you deeper into this drama.
MUSIC - OST filled with star-studded singers. All are nice songs to hear and good reflection to the story. It only lacks that 1% of the catchy hook to keep listening to them.
All to say this is a good drama with many fluffy parts to brighten your days. You can ignore all the discomfort like me and keep watching Woong and Yeonsoo's story.

#1 comfort drama :)
i love our beloved summer because it's very comforting, everything about it is beautiful and calming, it's the perfect youth romance drama :) the characters, setting, story, ost, everything was perfect! what i loved most about obs is that different emotions were seen in the drama as the seasons change <3 to me, it was a comforting emotional roller coaster ride, even the painful scenes were comforting because i think many people, including me, can relate to particular scenes, not necessarily the same situations, but rather the emotions portrayed! i've watched this drama many times already and i still love it, my #1 comfort drama !!! i HIGHLY recommend that you watch it if you haven't <3Was this review helpful to you?

Truly enjoyed every second and it has an amazing insight about the misunderstandings in relationships and how communication is key. And the acting was extraordinary with great chemistry! It's a very very very very happy ending for everyone! Ahh that last episode was sooo good I loved it! Absolutely loved it! The music too was sooo good! The cast smashed it! Choi Woo Shik is honestly the cutest. And such an amazing actor! I think my favorite moments in this drama were his "quirky" reactions to pretty much anything. But the best part? Woong and his parents. There was so much love and affection and respect and I think theirs was the best family dynamic I've seen in a long time.I must admit, though, that I liked the first half of this drama better than the second one. IMO, it was funnier and it kept me on the edge of my seat, the push and pull between Woong and Yeon Soo, the will they won't they was polished to perfection. Once they got together, though, it just... lost something. It was still very good, don't get me wrong, and the actors were keeping the standard high but some of the, well, spark was gone.
Some of my favorite moments were when Woong was sick and laid his head in his mother's lap. Or when she and Woong talked about Woong knowing about his past at the end. Or the genuine care that Woong showed to Ji Woong when Ji Woong was sick. Or... well, like I said, pretty much all Choi Woo Shik's scenes, what can I say. He's a truly marvelous actor!

Heartbreaking, emotional, amazing!
Oh my gosh that was so good! I'm not going to try to be all poetic and proper, I just want to gush about how good this series was. There was such good chemistry amongst the characters. And I swear, every time Ung smiled, I melted. So now I'm just a puddle of goo trying to operate the keyboard to say how much I liked this.I didn't cry a lot, which in itself is a miracle, because I'm a crier. There were a couple of tears shed here and there though. If there hadn't been, I don't think I'd have liked it as much. That last episode definitely tugged at a heartstring or 2.
There were a lot of flashbacks, especially to the first documentary, but they were done well and I loved them. There weren't too many scenes throughout the whole show where I questioned whether I should fast-forward. But honestly, it's 16 episodes....I think there were 2 or 3 that I thought about doing the Netflix 10-second skip. To have that few is a win in my book, and I never did skip for fear of missing something.
It wasn't fast paced, but it wasn't so slow as to be uneventful. I swear I was heartbroken for the first 13 or so episodes, and several times I went to the MDL individual episodes to comment, but I never wrote anything, as I was too much into the "what's next" of the series. Truly, it was WAY better than I thought it would be.

The simplicity of this show is what makes it special.
Despite not having a complicated plot, something about the way it was written and the cinematography made me feel attached to the characters easily from the moment I started watching this. You can deeply feel and relate to the emotions that each character wants to convey, everyone in this show is so likeable. The casting was great and everyone played their role perfectly. The pacing was excellent, and I must say that I loved the constant flashbacks of their highschool days! There's so much overflowing chemistry between the leads, that I was constantly smiling at my screen. Another strength of this drama is how many different issues are covered in a way that is not overwhelming. The only thing that bothered me was the lack of communication, I even felt like their relationship was toxic at first, so it was good to see the character development and how they became more open about their feelings and struggles.
Overall, is a feel-good show, very heartwarming, chill, cute and healing. I will rewatch this from time to time when I feel like I need a hug. :)

Love and a little bit tiring
As I watched it became uninteresting, there were a lot of unnecessary episodes that didn't give any continuity to the storyThey fought, fell in love, fought and so on until episode 10, but this fight is worth it because when they finally get together again it's the most beautiful thing and amazing to watch, the comedy is good too, but a good part of this kdrama is the hatred between them.
yeonsu is super rude and self-centered, but as the kdrama progresses you can see that she is a sweet girl and that because of her financial life she grew up doing things just for herself.
I found ung to be very sensitive, and he always went after her, that's where I found this kdrama a little boring.
When they went to a spring house, (I don't even know what that was) well, moving on, when they went there, it was the most annoying and unbearable part of this kdrama, and then yeonsu did something, but other than that , this kdrama is wonderful. And finally they had a cute and amazing ending

Wanted to love it but I couldn't
I went in with a lot of expectations as it was hot and trending all over for its melancholic and sentimental vibe but it did not satisfy my expectations. It started off nice with the previous documentary being all happy with the 'young days' vibe. I was starting to enjoy it but then it became repetitive as they kept taking a step forward while opening their feelings to each other and then immediately regretting it and avoiding it the next day. I wanted them to not regret their conversations for once.
It had the healing vibe but could have been better. The ML didn't realize his true desires and goals in life until the last which was a bit frustrating and it was wrapped up quickly. The SML could have had a nice happy ending with the one who loved him too but it was a bit regretful not to see that on screen.
Overall, it is not worth all the hype. It is better to go in as any regular without too much expectations.
