Too unserious to be the Euphoria of BL
I went into KinnPorsche with a lot of hype around the series after having watched a lot of BL and related media in 2021 when it was first getting rumored and made into reality having just finished amazing series like Until We Meet Again and Manner of Death. Those shows highlighted BL's growth as a genre and that was proof that some exceptional shows in the gay genre could exist and also have intrigue outside of the plot romance while also taking itself seriously. Unfortunately KinnPorsche did not live up those titles at all. There are intense pacing issues and a distinct lack of -real- drama for quite literally the first five or six episodes, considering how the pilot introduces Kinn and Porsche and the (initial) pretense of why they are together; Kinn is the heir of the lead crime family in the area and needs a bodyguard in Porsche. So many episodes are spent in this 'training' arc that is very campy and there's quite literally nothing serious that happens until about five episodes in when Porsche is present for the 'teaching of a lesson' that goes haywire. Porsche is more of a sassy live in crush that throws quips around until the plot decides to get serious about 8+ episodes in and we have overlapping side stories finally bringing the forest from the trees together and reminding the audience of the overarching plot. Sprinkled scenes of intimacy held me in suspense and yes they were nice but I didn't think Kinn and Porsche's chemistry was that great, either, they are just very attractive guys but I didn't feel any chemistry beyond that. I wasn't hooked until the very last episode but felt like it took way too long to get a coherent overarching plot amounting to something and to get satisfying comeuppances from the various characters. Didn't like Vegas much and I kind of hated Pete and Vegas, it just seemed out of nowhere but I did enjoy Kim and Porchay, Porsche's younger brother.
There's a story about family and loyalty and deception in KinnPorsche but it takes too long to find itself and meanders drunkenly through campy arcs for way too long to then have to rely on tired tropes to deliver. KinnPorsche to me wasn't offensively bad, but I can't say I thought it was good, either. If there's something to takeaway, I enjoyed the fighting scenes in KP way more than any of the BL aspects.

I think my hopes were way too high...
Coming off of Love In The Air a lot of friends online recommended this series to me and hyped it up (maybe too much) because I mentioned LITA being one of my favorites solely because of the chemistry between the characters. I typically don't mind plot holes in a series if the Romance and Chemistry between the couples carry. First 4 episodes into KP and I’m kind of bored ands uninterested in the mafia violence stuff. Maybe I just don't enjoy too much action in "Action Romance" genre in BL all that much. I'll still finished this series because I do enjoy the Romantic moments between the couples and the different dynamics each of them have. The NC scenes were WILD and I'm not sure if I like them or not. I know a lot of people like to slander a series because of abuse, non consent, etc. I typically don't mind if this is the main point of conflict in a series that's trying to get resolved. One could argue there might be too many conflicts that are trying to be resolved in this series and the abuse, SA, and lack of consent don't seem to be any of them.I think overall, I'm just kind of neutral about this series. If I went it with less expectations maybe I would've enjoyed it a bit more

it does smell nice: an ode to apo
it is i, the niel.it took me a looooong time to finish this show. literal months. at first, the storyline was intriguing, but, like most bls, just started adding in random elements to pad the runtime. it certainly is a high-quality production. gotta give it its flowers, because it was the bl that caused the genre to shift in a more mature direction away from high school/college fluff. the actors did a good job, the scenes were shot well (lots of variety in set locations), music was great, and overall, it was well-made.
however, there were issues with the tone of the story at times. within seconds of certain scenes, the tone went from serious to goofing around in a very jarring way. this can work in certain shows, but i was caught off-guard every single time. after having watched the show, i can go back to the goofy scenes and laugh at them, but as i was watching, i just sighed every time. the product placements were giving unforgotten night, which works great in a show like that, but not this one.
porsche, as a character, was generally a likable guy. but, i think that apo plays porsche in such a way that makes viewers look past his inherent flaws, because apo is just a charismatic dude. porsche's motivations are slightly contradictory at times. for example, he claims to be doing this job to protect and provide for his younger brother. however, by doing so, he essentially abandons chay (a minor) in the process, which then leads to him getting groomed (well, yes). at times during the story, he had opportunities to leave, but he chooses to actively stay with kinn as a bodyguard, which is not in the best interest of his brother. i'm not saying all of his decisions should be based around chay, but bro is in high school. porsche is literally his legal guardian (uncle gone). i don't think that porsche starts off as a selfish character, but he slowly becomes a selfish character, and that honestly isn't acknowledged.
every single relationship in this show has a basis that makes it impossible for me as a viewer to turn a blind eye to their relationship dynamics. there are factors in all 3 couples, at least at times, that make it legally/morally impossible for one person in the couple to give informed consent. vegas and pete, foul. kim and chay, deceitful. kinn and porsche, hr violation.
way too many scenes of SA or nonconsensual interactions. in all of them, the show tends to justify the sexual violence in some fashion, or fails to make the couples acknowledge/address it. woof.
on a positive note, i think back on the bread product placement scenes fondly. like i said, apo is a chill dude. the actors did a great job with what they were given. it's not their fault that the script was sus at times. overall, it's a refreshing change of pace from what we had seen from prior thai bls. it's worth watching, if you're okay with darker themes mixed with nonsense. also, a lot is left unresolved by the end, which might be frustrating for some viewers. i don't think i'd rewatch the entire thing, but some scenes were good enough for me to go back to. kachow!!
best,
the niel.

The ONE for me.
I'm gonna have to say this. This series is probably my absolute favourite on yet. Keep in mind I'm not the type of person that likes stuff easily. It's really hard to explain how just on point this series is. The acting, editing, production, plot and the OST is something I'm never gonna be forgetting cuz of how satisfying it all was. Every single actor made me fall in love w them regardless of them having an evil or good personality.
!SPOILERS AHEAD!
The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the story of the characters Vegas and Pete.
I really can't wrap my head around the fact that they even got together after what they -specifically the character Pete- went through.
But the acting was chiefs kiss.
The rollercoaster of emotions I went through was real. The way I ugly cried when Vegas shot; I was really embarrassed w my actions :P I'm
As I've already said I absolutely loved this series.
If it has a Season 2 then I'd definitely watch it.
The series also left us on a cliffhanger w the Kimchay bit. So I'm very much expecting a good ending somewhere (PLEASE).

Foreshadowing was done so masterfully!
I held off on writing this review, mostly because this was my introduction to Asian dramas, Thai dramas and BL dramas in general. I didn't really have any expectations going into this, so I wanted to give myself time to watch some other series and get a good point of reference when it came to the review. Having said that, I think this was an amazing introduction into the BL world for me.The storyline is nice, there are however some shortcomings and there are certain things that were left open or without an explanation - like the motivation behind the inside man. I thought of almost everyone else except him, but I still don't know why he decided to betray the main family. Also the family relevations about Porsche (and Chay) was a bit too much and completely unnecessary. It could have been and it should have been done differently.
I love how much though was put into the side characters as well. I was ready to just remember everyone by bodyguard 1, bodyguard 2, friend 1... There are a lot of side characters and I think it's amazing how I had no troubles knowing exactly who is who, how they are, picking up some of their traits. That takes a lot of work and dedication, so kudos for that. The chemistry (and not just romantic) between the actors was great, they all did an amazing job portraying emotions, often only through their expressions. And I think saying the visuals of everyone were on point is an underrated statement. OST was amazing as well!
Another absolutely brilliant thing was the foreshadowing - there were a lot of little hints about what is happening or what was going to happen throughout the series, but I feel like I didn't fully register all of them as I watched the series. It was only when things actually happened that I was like "oooh, so that's what that comments ment!". This is also why I rewatched the whole thing pretty much right after I finished it. I really wanted to see how many such details I missed.
We get to see 4 couples in the series: Kinn & Porsche, Vegas & Pete, Kim & Porchay, and Time & Tay.
Time & Tay: they are Kinn's friends who are already a couple when the series starts. All I am going to say is that Tay deserves so much better. At first, I wasn't really sure if their actions and comments are meant as a joke or are we supposed to take them seriously, but episode 12 cleared all of my doubts. The two probably got the least screen time between all the couples, but they slayed it.
Kim & Porchay: This is one pairing that I found really interesting. Porchay is probably the most innocent person in this whole series, while Kim seems like someone who could rule the world with very little effort. Kim is the youngest and doesn't live with his family, he is an artist, but at the same time, he knows much more about what is really going on than Kinn. So the duality of his character was quite interesting to watch, especially in comparison with Porchay who was delighted to meet his favourite singer. I do really feel for Porchay though, he was practically abandoned by his brother (even if Porsche was trying to ensure a better future for his brother) and was left in a very vulnerable position. Their relationship is kept to a bare minimum, but it was one that really stuck with me.
Vegas & Pete: from the first interaction show in the series, it was foreshadowed that the two will be together. I do think their relationship does begin very problematically, including what precedes it, but at the same time, I just cannot hate Vegas. He grew up in a very messed up household and was taught to obey his father. I think that true Vegas comes out when he is taking care of someone, which is shown in his interactions with Macau and later with Pete. I do think he finds it hard to completely leave behind what was engrained into him by his father. Pete does appear as a very superficial character at first, he is fun and silly, and that's it. But as the story progresses, we get to see a lot more of his personality. He is wise, strategical, caring, supportive. I think this is what makes him a great match for Vegas who needs someone who will show him love, who will love him for who he is as a person, who can see through his shell.
Kinn & Porsche: they are the main couple. Their relationship was quite messy at times and it lacked communication when it was the most important. Kinn as a character does seem very cold and ruthless at first, but after hearing him talk about his life, we do get to see a different side to him. As he and Porsche get closer, we do get to see his caring side more. Porsche is... wild. I don't really know how else to describe him, but I think he is perfectly imperfect. He gets himself into trouble constantly, is kind of clumsy, noisy and is good at messing things up. I feel like this is what makes his character so human, so realistic. I was amazed by how much a single expression from Porsche (Apo) could tell us about his feelings. The amount of raw emotions put into some of the scenes left me speechless.
I do have to make a comment on questionable consent. There are a quite a few spicy scenes in the series which were done really beautifully. I urge you to check the BTS where the actors talk about them. It's very refreshing to see such mature outlook on NC scenes. But back to the consent - both Kinn & Porsche's and Vegas & Pete's first time are a bit problematic for different reasons. I really appreciate that we got to see that Porsche and Pete were wary of what has happened afterward. I think it's important that such issues are addressed, because it shows that what has happened was not necessarily completely consensual, which can lead to trauma.
The 18+ rating on the series is justified. Not because of action / violence scenes, not even because of the NC scenes. The characters are extremely complex, there is a certain level of maturity needed to really understand everything. And many people, even when they are 18+, are not capable of that.

Was it perfect - hell no! But it was good.
I loved this BL. It was definitely not perfect. This was kindergarten mafia, with not very competent bodyguards, the story line with questionable turns and lots of wtf moments. But the visuals that this show brought and the style were amazing! Each ep was like its own movie. The hot cast and the sex scenes that will blow your gasket. It had everything - cuteness, sweetness, innocence, passion, love and hate, torture, jealousy, obsession, rivalry, angst - all wrapped in crazy family dynamics sprinkled with some blood. As a fan of toxic - I wish we would have gotten more screen time of VP!!!Was this review helpful to you?
watch it if y'all still haven't watched it
I will fall short of adjectives explaining and talking about KinnPorsche the series, I mean what a show man, what a show!!! awesome!! watched it when it was ongoing, have been watching all the episodes since then ON REPEAT, it has become my comfort drama. All the actors are so so so good, each one justified their characters so so so well! Wow I am in love with all the characters! Kinn Porsche, Vegas Pete the first lead couple and the second lead couple will make you laugh, smile, cry and Kim Chay the baby couple I felt so bad for them in the end!
It had every element one show must have, it was not just a typical romcom BL drama, but BL drama with lots of actions, romance, comedy, drama, suspense, and omg talk about suspense I would not really want to give any spoilers in my review but only people who already watched it or have read the novel we know what all happened in the 14th episode!!!!!
There was no episode which seemed boring or plain, every episode was like a roller coaster ride, and the last episode was just AWESOME.. omg! the range of emotions we felt during the last episode, I guarantee all the KPTS fans who watched the last episode felt that!
omg! I am still hooked to that drama, I am sure I am not getting over it anytime soon!!
ONE OF THE BEST BL DRAMAS! I AM VERY PICKY WHEN IT COMES TO BL DRAMAS, AND AFTER WATCHING KPTS, (NO OFFENCE TO ANY FANS OF OTHER BL DRAMAS HERE) I FIND NO BL DRAMA AS INTERESTING AS KINNPORSCHE THE SERIES! KPTS HAS RAISED THE BARS OF BL DRAMAS! AND I GUESS NO ONE CAN DENY IT!! I AM WAITING FOR SEASON 2 I BELIEVE THERE IS SEASON 2 AS WELL! THAT CANNOT BE THE ENDING I AM SURE!!
I laughed and felt ticklish for kinnporsche, cried and later smiled for vegaspete, felt sad for kimchay!! not to forget Tankhun, one of the besttttttt characters omg!! childish yet most sensible person in the house, he proved how sensible he was every time there was problem in the family, none of his doubts were wrong and he used brains most of the time! BIG, KEN, ARM, POL they kept us entertained too!! For BIG I always always feel sorry to think so wrong of him every time he appeared in the show!
THIS IS A MASTERPIECE! THERE IS NO BL DRAMA LIKE KINNPORSCHE THE SERIES!!

This is good but not perfect.
After watching it, I do understand why ppl loved and hated it all at the same time. Tbh, the first few episodes was so good, you will literally get hooked and will definitely stay to know more. But I have to agree with what other reviews have said, in the latter part of the story, idk but it get so confusing & a bit annoying at the same time.STORY: (I haven't read the novel so this is base on my understanding in the series itself)
Tbh, the story is fantastic but not perfectly executed. Idk if its really the goal of the series, to make us all confused and annoyed but that's how I felt especially on the last 4(?) episodes. Also the ending felt too rushed or is it just me?.
I guess what I like abt the most in this storyline is how it is connected together and being polished in the end. I would say; trust issues will really hit you rock hard here in this series.
ACTING/CASTING: One word; spectacular.
The actors and their acting really did blend together so well esp Bible and Build. Dont get me wrong, I love how Mile and Apo portrayed Kinn and Porsche but I have to agree with others that BibleBuild nailed this one so much.
I do know that this wasn't the original cast for KP, some have been changed.. but tbh, the casts who have portrayed it now, NAILED IT so much.
MUSIC: Iconic.
Free Fall & Why Don't You Stay? Unforgettable🖤
FOR THE REWATCH VALUE: its still up to u tbh.
But for me, this kind of series is good for one time only. Maybe, will rewatch some scenes but not the whole series.
OVERALL REVIEW — is it worth the watch? Yes.
As a BL fan for a long time, I can say that 'so far' this has the BEST mix of genres in a series esp in the aspect of Action. But still I have to stand for my say that; Yes, this series is good but its not perfect. Why? Watch it to know :))
Ps. I entered as Apo biased, got out with Bas 😅

Enjoyable but definitely questionable
There’s about a million things wrong with this show lol like a massive amount of toxicity in like every single relationship but it does meet it’s purpose as a show, it’s interesting and it catches your attention.Kinn and Porsche are cute, it’s almost disgusting actually lmao. I hope Chay and Kim will make peace too. Pete though… he’s probably my favorite character and I cannot believe they did that to him. I was kinda crushed when Vegas got shot just because Pete suffered but let's be real it'd been best for him if Vegas had died like ??? Why would you give someone so sweet such a tortuous (literally) relationship and such a nasty person for a partner? I do not understand. How can you ever act as if your partner hadn’t literally kidnapped and tortured you for days in the worst possible ways? It’s seriously disgusting. And no kind of trauma justifies that one, I do not care. I hope Pete gets help with his Stockholm syndrome fr. And Kinn and Porsche and everyone else but Tankhun just kinda forgetting about him… Yeah no.
Plot-wise, it’s painfully obvious that there’s something wrong with Porche’s and Chay’s mom and there’s definitely even something else that Mr. Kohrn is hiding (what’s new), so I admit that I’m curious, so I will probably end up watching season 2. But seriously, choose another target cause there’s so much emotional damage and trauma that a person can process and I feel like porsche is at his very limit give him a break😭
Last thing I wanna say is that the entire cast is insanely gorgeous. They seem super nice too I may or may not have ended up following some of them on Instagram🫠

Story Has Failed Again
This is a few years old now, but every so often I'm drawn back to it to figure it out - was it that bad? It was. The story. The non-existent story, that is. Organized crime should be a story goldmine. What if the lead falls for the bad guy from a rival gang who he later learns ordered the killing of his father? There's a lot you can do here, provided actual writers are given the time (and money) to write it.Was this review helpful to you?

You weren't exactly supposed to like VegasPete.
I want to start off by saying I loved this show—the acting, the cinematography, the music—everything was done so well, and the characters are incredibly lovable! They did a very good job adapting this from the book, and by "good job" I mean they took literal trash and turned it into gold, A.K.A. please by god do not touch the book with a 6-foot pole if you value your sanity. There's a lot of things I could talk about with this BL that I absolutely loved, but I want to focus on one thing I don't see a lot of people understanding with this show: and that is the extremely toxic relationship that is VegasPete.
My biggest issue with most BL dramas is—and always will be—the romanticization of SA and/or abuse. There is nothing 'cute' about getting kissed under the influence when you did not consent, nor being held down and touched when you clearly do not want to be. Sometimes it's the dynamic, yes, but I'm not talking about that; I'm talking about the too-many instances where it crosses the line (coughtharntypecough).
There's a big difference between when BL's show these things happening and condemn it, and when they play it off as a joke or romanticize it. BIG. DIFFERENCE. This show somehow managed to do both!
Everything with Vegas and Pete made me extremely uncomfortable, and the "happy ending" they got felt... bittersweet. Pete fell in love, yes, but the mental trauma inflicted on him by Vegas is undeniable, and they both seriously need therapy if any form of a healthy relationship is to exist between the two of them. But that's just the thing, right? This was SUPPOSED to be a toxic relationship, that's what it was written to be. So why do I see so many people online romanticizing what happened to Pete?
It really gets under my skin, seeing fans look at these two and find them "cute"—you're allowed to like the actor (Bible and Build)'s dynamic cute, you're allowed to find VegasPete's story interesting, and you are allowed to favor it, but please stop looking at these toxic relationships and viewing it as "romantic" because it isn't, it's damaging to the queer community for you think like this.
Anyways, there's my two cents! Take from it what you will, but as someone who is gay, this particular thing just happen to be getting on my nerves. Again, I love this series, it's one the best to come out of the BL scene this year, but I wouldn't be able to stop thinking about it if I didn't bring this up. :)

Even with its many flaws, I love this show
KinnPorsche created a shift in me that I don't know how to explain. Before watching it, I had watched the Eclipse that got me into Thai BL shows and it was fairly enjoyable. After that, me and my mom (who got me into those shows in the first place) started watching KinnPorsche and I have to say, I'm not the same person since.
First of all, the presentation is incredible. Even when you don't compare it with what the Filmania trailer showed (which was so cheap looking and amateur-ish), it's beautiful and so well put together. There were some issues that I couldn't overlook - extras who were supposed to be dead were slightly moving in the background, hair length changing between scenes, daytime changing to night time in a matter of minutes, wounds disappearing and reappearing etc - but I noticed most of those upon rewatches of the show, so a newcomer probably won't notice them, unless they are very perceptive. Besides that, though, the cinematography, directing, editing, lighting, costume design, set design, all of it was so professionally presented and the attention to detail impressed me.
I want to focus a little on the music because I pay a lot of attention to it whenever I watch a series or a movie. And I have to say, the music was one of my favorite aspects of the show. I spent hours trying to find every single piece on YouTube and was happy that most of it was Royalty Free music, since it was easier for me to discover. Each piece was chosen spectacularly and fit with the scene perfectly. The theme song was very catchy and fun to listen to, as well as its variations they were using as background music throughout the show. Jeff Satur's song stuck in my head for many days after finishing KinnPorsche, his angelic voice resonating with me. But my favorite song has to be Season Five's. When we heard the vocals as viewers during that particular sad scene, my heart broke, it was devastating and beautiful.
The acting was phenomenal and all of the actors and actresses deserve praise - which they got eventually and that makes me so happy for them. Many of them were rookies but they were so good at their respective roles that you wouldn't even notice. The most notable example being Bible who played Vegas, easily one of the best actors of the show. The way he portrayed Vegas, arguably the most difficult role of all, is astounding and I have nothing but respect for his talent and determination to give it his all. Other notable performances were Apo's, who played Porsche, and Build's, who played Pete. Those three, for me, were the best actors of the series, each giving a unique and memorable performance for their amazing characters.
Speaking of characters, some of them I loved and some of them I loved to hate. My favorite character was easily Pete, with Vegas being a very close second. Both of them had so many layers to their personality and were so much more than what was initially shown to the audience that I was dumbfounded. I loved them to pieces. Porsche was also quite interesting and truly gave the impression that he was a 23 year-old man, which I appreciated. Other characters I enjoyed spending time with was Kim, Arm and Big, all of them giving me exactly what I wanted. Kinn, Korn, Gun and Porsche's uncle, as well as Tawan, were the characters I disliked greatly, some even hated with a passion. The reasons are multiple but I cannot specify without spoilers.
This brings me to the story. I'm here to tell you, there isn't that much story here. The mafia setting isn't really the focus of the series. I found it to be more or less the excuse for bringing all these characters together. I particularly don't find that a bad thing but nevertheless, it's important to know so that you are prepared before watching. What you also need to know is that the bits and pieces of story there actually is, it has some plot holes that may hinder your engagement and enjoyment. Some character decisions make no sense, the way the things progress may seem rushed or out of nowhere and some back and forth may occur. If those things will bother you depends a lot on what you enjoy in a story and what your expectations will be for KinnPorsche.
Now, I must dedicate a paragraph or two to talk about the romance. It is a BL after all, isn't that why we're here?
KinnPorsche has 3 main couples. The first one being Kinn and Porsche, as the title suggests, the second one being Vegas and Pete and the third one being Kim and Porchay. If this wasn't common knowledge, I wouldn't even mention what the couples are, because I love the element of surprise, especially with VegasPete. But I really want to give my opinion about all of them so, here it is.
Kinn and Porsche's relationship had it all. It was passionate, it was cute, it was wholesome, it was dramatic, the whole package. MileApo really gave it their all while portraying those characters and you can just feel their chemistry from the 1st episode. I have some issues with how their struggles were presented and some back and forth they had, especially with Kinn being an asshole most of the time, but I can't say I didn't enjoy what the show gave me. They were the stars of the show and rightfully so. Kim and Porchay were cute. Their celebrity/fan dynamic worked for me and the progression of their relationship made sense. They weren't my favorite but I had fun during their scenes, they gave me a feeling of fluff that I didn't know I wanted but definitely needed between all the angst and suffering that was happening.
And then, there's VegasPete. My favorite element of the series, which says a lot, considering their story started super late. I was immensely hooked and invested from beginning to end. I truly adore tragic portrayals of love and their relationship is the very definition of that. Their love story is full of pain but also mutual understanding in every sense of the word; romantically, sexually, mentally, physically. They are 2 broken people who grew up used to being abused and neglected, until they met each other in the worst of circumstances and somehow found solace in each other. Many KinnPorsche fans can't see them as a couple and while I completely understand why, I can't help but be fascinated by what the show accomplished within such a tight timeframe; making me love a couple for all the reasons that I should have hated it instead.
KinnPorsche isn't perfect. It has problems in many areas and I can see why some people had issues with it. At the same time, I don't care about any of them. It gave me a whole new experience that grabbed my attention and never let it go. It made me look beyond the entertainment I consumed in the past and gave me an experience I never thought I would have and thoroughly enjoy. If we actually do get a second season, I'll surely be there to support KinnPorsche with all my heart. Give it a chance, I'm sure you won't regret it!
