OVERALL
One of these few dramas that successfully combine romance, suspense, comedy, drama, character development and social critique. Watch if 1) like me, you're a sucker for dramas that inspire you and make you think, 2) You've seen a few average dramas and you want something a little better. Don't watch if 1) You have a hard time with characters that bear flaws, 2) You nitpick about small plot mistakes.

THE STORY
Gripping tale, made of plenty of plot twists and enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat, uncertain about where the story will take you, from beginning to end. The characters evolve throughout the drama - and not just the main protagonists, almost all of them - but the best thing is, they are all relatively 'complex', which in my own speech means that they all have flaws and/or vulnerabilities, but all end up getting some kind of positive emotion from you, if not love, at least pity or understanding. The story is also one that makes you think about the world and how you've been living, with some quite deep lines and conversations. There might be a few plot elements that don't seem very realistic, and the romances might seem a little bland, but there's been a lot worst in Kdramaland, trust me.

THE ACTING
All the cast did a pretty good job in this drama. I just can't give a 10 because I thought there wasn't much chemistry between Lee Boyoung and Lee Jongsuk, and it was a shame, it would have made it perfect.

THE MUSIC
Quite good, well chosen. My personal favorite: Every Single Day, by Echo. Rock or acoustic version, the song's cool.

REWATCH VALUE
Rewatched.

This is the first review that I'm writing so bear with me! I felt that I had to be cause this was and still is such an amazing drama!!!
The story is fantastic, however, if you examine it closely there are some hole with the legal stuff. Knowing that it does not take from the story at all. It's just such a heartfelt story that has you cry (a lot).
The casting was perfect I love the lead actors, however, I admit there were times that I was upset with the heroine.
The music selection was perfect, it complimented the story perfectly.
I consider this one of the best that I have seen and would most definitely watch it again.
Overall, this drama is just awesome and one would really be missing out if they didnt watch.

it's 2am and i've just finished the final episode...

all i can say is, wow. just. wow. this drama was just a breath of air from start to end. the plot was new and fresh, and they made law look so....interesting. i initially had my reservations about the casting, especially the two main leads because of their age difference but i was proven wrong. their chemistry was top-notch. although the drama didn't have as many typical romantic scenes as a korean drama should (i am a major sucker for that) the romance was still worth the watch. the drama had a really strong theme which carried on throughout the show i.e voices, and how every single person out there is important and worthy enough to be heard by someone.

drama had a 2-episode extension from 16 to 18. i usually hate extensions because there will be an irrelevant plot twist/draggy storyline and although i initially thought the extension storyline was redundant, i realised how important it was. i loved the ending, it was so clean and well organized (unlike NICE GUY sorry still bitter, wtf worst shit ever) all of the stories finally came together and were tied up into one neat little package worthy of an ending.

random qn: do you know what the worst feeling in the world is? it's not hate, or anger, or sadness. it's loneliness. not having anyone by your side, not having anyone who cares. i never thought i would've pitied such a grossly dehumanized satan spawn in the form of the drama's antagonist but towards the end i did, because everyone deserves to be listened to.....just goes to show how much i took away from this drama.

"don't waste your life hating someone, because even life itself is not long enough to love someone"

i really like dramas that make me ponder and think, long after the credits have rolled. rewatch value is at 6 because while it is a good drama, its not the rewatch-able kind of drama (because you already will know what will happen haha)

long story short, all i've got to say is that it's really, really worth the high ratings (7%). another daebak drama for lee jongsuk once again, i am really, really happy for him. he is a brilliant actor considering his young age and he will go very, very far :)

I will confess to watching quite a few kdramas and the fact that very few of them make my list of re-watchables or ultimate all-time favorites. And I'm happy to admit that I hear your voice makes that special list comprising very few names.
It has everything -
i)a recurring theme of justice, notions of culpability, a moving discourse on the thin line of difference between fair and unfair and the human desire for connection
ii)A solid ensemble cast who put up stellar performances (Lee Bo Young is outstanding as the prickly, smartass, intelligent, independent modern woman and so is Yoon Sang Hyun as the goofy but upright defense attorney. Lee Jong Suk is quite convincing in his difficult role as well)
iii)A well plotted story that makes sense and doesn't frustrate us with its lack of rationale.
iv)great music which goes with the overall tone of the story and adds to the many tender or suspenseful moments that the characters share with each other
AND last but not the least.....
v)a heart-melting noona-dongseng romance. If Soo Ha and Hye Seong's romance didn't move you or you are still cringing at the age difference thing then I'm sorry to say you're not a very sensitive human being.

So if you're still hesitating and wondering whether it's worth a shot to invest 18+ hours in this specific drama, do not worry and JUST GO RIGHT AHEAD AND WATCH IT. This drama gifts you with an amazing, amazing experience, teaches you lots about human empathy, nitty gritties of the law and the ultimate need to hear and respond to someone's voice (be it a stranger or someone you've known for ages) (Yeah sorry couldn't help but use that cliche)

Can I just say that whoever doesn't watch this, needs a whopping!!!
When I started this, I never thought I'd like it this much, I thought it was just other drama to pass time with, but I was sooo WRONG!! the first 10 minutes grabbed my attention and I couldn't stop watching after that. The story is really unique, whoever heard of Justice with a twist of mind reading?? Every moment makes you guess and wonder whats going to happen!! I mean legit you really don't have a clue on whats going to happen next, it can go in that direction or the other, you have to just watch and wait, which personally kills me!!. The Acting is perfect, some people have a problem because the women is older, but trust me even though the main leads have an age gap, you really don't see it because their chemistry is shining threw the shine,The main guy is MANLY!! Watch it and you'll know what I mean. The Music is really catchy, it fits with every scene well, and I don't usually rewatch dramas, but this one is an exception for me,that's how good it is.
*** GOO WATCH NOWW!! YOU WILL NOT REGRET!***

"I Hear Your Voice" is a really hard drama for me to review, since it's one of those dramas you really can't describe. So I'm just going to go right on ahead.
Story: The writer also wrote "Dream High", which was definitely well written but the actors weren't all that great. A few episodes in, it was really obvious that the writer was the same because- while the plot was completely different- the story was told with a ton of heart. The writer very obviously loved each and every character here and really fleshed them all out. I also feel like the writer has improved from her "Dream High" days, because the character arcs weren't so drastic here like they were in DH. The characters here moved along their little paths in subtle ways, becoming better people but still retaining their original selves. I especially loved Do Yeon's character arc because it really hit you in the heart. She started out a bitchy, arrogant girl and finally became a character you could love and respect. To be completely honest, by the end of the drama there really weren't any characters you actively hated. There were some you found pitiful, but everyone had their reasons for doing with they did and they all suffered the consequences of their actions. I kind of wish that Kwan Woo and Soo Ha had more scenes together, because they could have had an awesome bromance, but I did love the relationship they already had with each other. Another thing that I loved about this drama was the relationship between Kwan Woo and Hye Sung. Kwan Woo inspired Hye Sung to become a better lawyer and start trusting in her defendants, and they're the textbook example of a "what could have been" couple. As far as shortcomings go, they're all pretty much related to the courtroom stuff. For instance, there's only three lawyers, one judge and two prosecutors throughout this entire drama. The courtroom scenes were unrealistic and if I were a lawyer/ someone in the field, I would probably hate how that world is portrayed in this drama.
Acting: Lee Bo Young was really good and had cute chemistry with Lee Jong Suk despite their huge age gap. Yoon Sang Hyun was great and I adored Choi Sung Joon. Everyone worked well within their roles.
Music: 2013 seems to be the year of great drama OSTs for me. I loved "Echo" to bits and pieces. All the other songs were used well and really fit the overall themes of this drama.
Rewatch Value: Of course, the second time you watch it won't be the same, but there are some parts that are worth the rewatch.
Overall: I know this is a bit last-minute, but I really have to commend "I Hear Your Voice" for coming up with such a clever title. The titular "voice" is different for each and every character. For Soo Ha, it's people's thoughts, for Hye Sung it's hearing and believing in her defendant's words and I don't want to give away Kwon Woo's because it's such a spoiler. Unlike other dramas, the title isn't just there on a surface level, but it really touches each and every facet of the drama, which just shows how much thought was put into it.

This drama was pleasantly surprising in that I did not expect it to be as good as it was. The summary did not completely interest me but after watching this drama, I found that it lives up to its high ratings and reviews. The drama was captivating and had me hooked by the first episode with a sad story that made me curious to learn more about the characters. This drama is quick paced and any challenges that arise are resolved within the next few episodes. Comedic roles, such as the judge and the secretary, were added to provide humor in what could be a more serious drama.

I really enjoyed the drama until exactly halfway through when there was an unexpected twist that included a typical drama cliché followed by a specific trial. Not wanting to give away spoilers, I will just say that what the lawyers come to realize by the end of the trial was something I’m sure most viewers were thinking right from the beginning. Although I was able to look past this and continue to enjoy the rest of the drama, this made me rate it a 9 instead of a 10 (Note: I rarely give out 10s but this drama was very close to getting one).

I thought the ending wrapped up nicely. I like how it was a more realistic ending in respect to the main couple. Rather than the typical “and they live happily ever after” feel, the couple acknowledges the fact that their relationship might not last in the long run but they will work hard at it.

The characters are well-developed, each with their own story that influences their decisions and personality. After finding out that the writer also worked on Dream High, I have to say that I am not surprised because I thought the characters for that drama were also nicely written. I particularly like the relationship between Hye Sung and Do Yeon and the characters of Lawyer Cha and Hye Sung’s mother. These really added to the overall drama value. In general, the cast did a great job bringing the characters to life.

As for the music, although some of it was repetitive, it wasn’t annoying like how it is for some other dramas. The OST was good and fit nicely with the scenes.

Don't go by my review

I'm apparently the only person in existence that didn't love this drama. This review is not intended to change anyone's mind, it's to remind me that I've seen the show and didn't like it. This show kind of creeped me out. A high schooler with an adult woman. Not just a young adult woman, but one that's old enough to have become an attorney! She was very immature and he was immature as well, but again, he was a high schooler! I loved the cast of this drama, and normally I'm tolerant of age disparity, but I couldn't get past it in this one. Because, in addition to the fact that there was such an age different, she was completely immature, which I found very irritating. I really have to be able to relate to certain characters in some fashion to get invested in a drama, and I wasn't able to do that with this show.

I loved it! This is the type of drama, that you won't regret watching. I became a fan of Lee Jong Suk in this drama. He is a very good actor, when he cries, it is heartbreaking. Even
Yoon Sang Hyun, Lee Bo Young and Lee Da Hee were really good here. The story will keep you in suspense and just keep watching. So beware, you might have to stay up (based on my experience).

My Sept 2025 recommendation

Long time wonder about this. Finally I watched this, tx to 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒏 amd Recommendation Challenge

Let's start our review…

The story revolves around Park Soo Ha (SH), Jang Hye Sung (HS) and Min Joon Kook (MJK).

The story begins with a tragic car accident involving SH and his father. But this wasn't just any accident; it was caused by MJK. Not only did MJK cause the crash, he personally killed SH’s father to make sure he was dead. Worst of all, young SH witnessed the murder. Because of the accident, SH also gained the ability to hear people’s thoughts.

By fate—or luck—the accident was witnessed by HS and her friend, Seo Do-yeon (DY). When the trial came, HS came forward as a key witness. Her testimony was decisive—MJK was convicted and sent to prison. Before disappearing behind bars, however, MJK swore to make HS pay for her testimony..

And just like that, the fates of SH, HS, and MJK became deeply entangled. With MJK vowing to get even, and SH silently determined to protect the woman who once saved him.

Fast-forward ten years. SH is now a high school student, living a quiet life—though he’s long lost contact with HS. One day, he comes across a newspaper article announcing HS’s appointment as a public defender.

Overjoyed, he rushes to meet her—only to discover that HS is nothing like he remembered. The brave, courageous girl he remembered has transformed into a sharp-tongued, blunt, and cynical woman. She’s self-centered, indifferent, and has lost faith in justice itself.

Slowly, however, HS begins to change—thanks to SH’s quiet support and her colleague, Cha Kwan Woo (KW). SH’s secret ability also often helps her with cases, reigniting her sense of purpose.

But chaos strikes when MJK is finally released from prison. He returns with one goal: to make HS pay, while SH positions himself as her protector. As they face danger together, the bond between SH and HS deepens.

For SH, his childhood admiration blossoms into romantic love. At first, HS doesn’t see him that way; to her, he’s just a bright-eyed kid who suddenly appeared in her life. But when SH mysteriously disappears—and later returns—something shifts inside her too. Her feelings begin to change.

Yet, while emotions grow between them, MJK’s threat lingers in the background. What will be the end of their intertwined story? And most importantly: what was MJK’s true reason for killing SH’s father in the first place?

That's pretty much the story without giving the spoiler. Now what I like and don't.

What I like:
+ The great chemistry between all the cast
+ KW is a great 2nd lead. We can see how frustrated he is when his love unreciprocated he still chooses to help.
+ Good side & bad side of human life. Like KW said: “The difference between SH & KW is just SH has someone by his side, while KW has none. If KW has someone that stands by his side from the first, maybe it can all have a different ending.”

What I don't too like:
- For me, even though I like the growing relationship between SH & HS, somehow I still prefer HS with KW.

Overall this is a really good drama to watch.

I Hear Your Voice is a romantic law/crime drama, with supernatural elements on top of it. It's truly unique, and has an interesting plot that doesn't focus solely on the romance. There is a love-triangle, but for once the "second-lead syndrome" is not present. Both men treat the woman right. I knew that regardless of who she ended up with, I would be happy. But again, if you're not into sappy romance, you don't have to worry, as this drama is amazing even without the romance being taken into account.
