
Sena is a college music graduate who dreams of becoming a professional musician and a world-class pianist. Unfortunately, he has not been able to find any breakthrough opportunities and has to settle for currently teaching piano at a local piano school.
Minami is an out-of-work model. On her wedding day, she was dumped by her fiancé, and when she rushed to her fiancé's apartment, she finds out that not only was her fiancé Sena's flatmate but that her fiancé had also skipped town along with all her savings. Rendered penniless, she then moves into Sena's apartment, occupying the empty room that was her former fiancé's.
The two down-on-their-luck persons with very different personalities find themselves bonding over their similar situations in life.

Due to family circumstances, high school student Miko Sonoda is forced to live at her uncle's boarding house. A love story unfolds about 7 people, including Kume Masakazu. They are in their 30's, live in Tokyo, and have their own views on love and friendship. Kume Masakazu is single and 33-years-old. He works as a struggling screenwriter. He doesn't have a girlfriend, because he has decided to cut off contact with a woman after meeting them 3 times. Because of his tendency to run away from love, his friends call him the "Man Without Love."



Both male leads are heirs to a traditional business that involves wearing traditional style of clothing. Both have a psycho female character pulling the strings. Both female leads have to navigate working the ins and outs of the business. Promise Cinderella is more of a romantic comedy while Watashitachi wa Douka Shiteiru is a little bit more of darker revenge.





Maria, struggling financially, juggles a low-paying day job with nighttime shifts at a cabaret to fund her sister Nana's eye operation. Tragedy struck their family when a young Maria accidentally caused a fire, resulting in Nana's blindness and their father's death. Shiro, a discontented concert pianist, crosses paths with Maria in a traffic accident, leading to his hospitalization. Adopting a false identity and amnesia, Shiro seeks refuge at Maria's home, eventually becoming a cabaret pianist. Unbeknownst to them, fate weaves a complex web, revealing that their lives were never meant to intersect.
