Even though the show has a stylish look and a beautiful soundtrack, it’s far from perfect and it leaves you with more questions than answers. Still, I genuinely enjoyed it. The chemistry between the actors is amazing. Everyone’s gorgeous, especially Cha Woo Min, that smile is just stunning. And the connection between him and Yu Hwan? Pure magic. The tension, the soft glances… everything felt so real and heartfelt. That hug was overflowing with emotion. Honestly, this show deserved a better-written script and way more screen time.

The tempting pilot turned out to be just a sweetener. The next episodes seems to be “running in place”, especially after episode 4. *yawning*

The love triangle that I hoped is never existed, they were just teasing without further execution. the story of the three of them, if it explored, could be an interesting thing to follow till last second.

Tangy Noodles, Bland Plot

Seo Hae Won was as bland as that first jjajangmyeon he made - literally felt no depth and had no interest in him whatsoever. And that wouldn't be bad if he weren't the main character of the show. But as it is: oof.

This was one of the worst Korean BLs; others at least had some interesting story (or good acting), but Tasty Florida is lacking in that aspect. The plot was so basic and predictable, it sometimes hurt my brain. Others said it before and I will say it again: that love triangle was so useless. Lifelong friends fighting over a dude they've known for a month (who was was intriguing as a dry noodle, sorry bro) really felt like unnecessary drama - which wasn't even well executed but all over the place.

I have to admit, though, that the chemistry of the main couple was sweet. They looked cute together and fitted each other (if only I knew what attracted Eungyu besides Hae Won's pretty face... but I said that already).
For a (Korean) BL, this did have some budget - the set was pretty (I really loved that restaurant! Would absolutely go there for lunch!) and the quality was stable too. And I think what I enjoyed most was the OST. Will definitely check those songs out!

All in all, nothing stunning. I watched it while eating to have something to occupy my mind - but if you do that too, keep some spices ready! You'll have to fight this show's blandness.

The Restaurant You Don't Want To Eat At When It's Raining Or Winter

I literally want to give most of the boys a haircut because damn they are in dire need of it.

The restaurant looks cool but fucking unpractical. WHAT IF IT RAINS? WHAT IF IT IS WINTER? HOW WILL YOU MAKE MONEY THEN?

A lot of people said that Eun Gyu acts as if he hates the main lead but I honestly didn't get that. He mostly acted friendly with him and he was only hesitant to hire him as a part-timer since our main lead has no experience in the food industry.

I'm not sure how I feel about their first kiss though. It would have been more okay if Eun Gyu actually missed the ML instead of the ML kissing him. It wasn't super sketchy since Eun Gyu did make the first move and the ML slowly kissed him.

The best friends picking a fight over the ML isa thing I really didn't like. No person could come between me and my friends & especially if I had been friends with them for 15 years like them. Besides, them fighting over the ML as if he wasn't there was pretty weird as well.

Everything moved and got resolved so quickly. Maybe that's because they had too many side plots and couldn't choose one subject or there were simply not enough episodes.

It's pretty funny how we suddenly went to florida for a missing dad. I don't know why but I'm really cracking up about this. It's so random that it is making me laugh. Omg noooo... it got even more random. Suddenly we're a year later out of nowhere. I'm dying. Who decided this was a great idea? I have actual tears in my eyes. Top notch unplanned comedy.

Wait what... Eun Gyu just got into a relationship and went to look for his dad over in florida with whom he had lost contact but his search literally took a year? And the couple went back as if a year was nothing, just a week or so. BITCH WTF! YOU GUYS HAVEN'T EVEN BEEN TOGETHER FOR A YEAR? WHO IS THIS WRITER? AND HOW CAN I SUE THEM FOR STUPIDITY?

Did he find his dad? Is his dad dead? What even is this storyline...

The actor who played Eun Gyu was pretty great and I'm curious to see what he will do next.

It's definitely not bad and not a show that I hated but it isn't amazing either. It's fairly decent and I still enjoyed it but it's probably the weakest Korean BL I've seen so far (weakest in plot etcetera). Even though I personally did not like light on me, I do think it is quality wise better than the tasty florida. Despite the tasty florida being worse in plot, acting etcetera I still enjoyed watching it a thousand times more than when I watched light on me.

so bad, it's laughable

it is i, the niel.

i have a lot of questions. nothing happened. haewon acted like a literal child. worst thing i've had the displeasure of watching in a while.

there were two and a half actors in this show who actually wanted to be involved in their roles. the rest seemed to take it as a joke, which honestly was the most entertaining aspect of this drama.

how was this restaurant even functioning in the first place? they supposedly had loads of customers, but only one cook. i'm certain that that kitchen wasn't up to code. at the same time, too many employees but they were hiring? you're done. didn't want to hire high school students, but would hire this random college freshman? you're done. haewon's inability to tie his own apron? you're done. jisoo getting pissed that eungyu burned himself and needed assistance? you're done. random time skip at the end with 3 minutes left of the show? you're done. will haewon ever go to school? i guess we'll never know.

these characters made no sense, but that doesn't compare to the fact that genuinely nothing happened in the story. it wouldn't be a bl without random trauma followed up with no character development. also, none of these characters seemed to have lives outside of this restaurant. even then, they barely did anything while they were and weren't working. whenever i watch these shows, i often wonder why they get so torn up over the smallest things, especially when they do not know each other!!! cringe. why do the characters keep appearing in random unrelated places at the same time? the interactions that the leads had with each other were cringeworthy. haewon was written almost as if he were a child, which was unsettling. why are you guys into each other??? because he's cute??? get out. my favorite part about watching this was seeing eungyu and jisoo sprint their hearts out in episode 8, like it was gym class.

the audio was questionable, which is rare for a kbl. usually the production quality is great with korean shows, but there were so many points where the audio was borderline inaudible and there was random foley that didn't match up with the actions in the scenes. how were there so many background characters/actors? why were people involved in this? the supporting characters seemed like they didn't want to be there half the time.

would i recommend this? absolutely not. would i rewatch this? absolutely not. would i listen to the ost? absolutely not. peace!

best,

the niel.

Overall - tasty

I watched the movie after finishing the show and I had the same feeling after watching both. I loved the aesthetic of the show. Story is simple and very yummy. Acting was good, as far as I understand acting. I am not an expert but I loved it. In case you like very, like very, very beautiful actors I fully recommend. Good for relaxation and nothing beyond that. But my heart was full because everything was so tasteful. I enjoyed the colors, the gentle breeze I felt on that roof where most of the scenes were filmed and the boys with perfect skin.

Hardly any chemistry between the main couple.

A lot of aspects in this show were credible. The cast, the acting, the production, but the writing is...questionable. I felt like it was hard to feel chemistry between Hae Won and Eun Gyu because everything between them was extremely rushed. They liked each other pretty much instantly. Nothing wrong with a "love at first sight" trope but this was just so forced. Eun Gyu knew next to nothing about Hae Won before developing feelings for him. It was all just so unrealistic.

The plotline is very basic on the surface, it's just another love triangle trope. Nothing wrong with that. My issue is that Hae Won arguably had more chemistry with Ji Soo than he did with Eun Gyu. They didn't have much time to develop a deep enough relationship, but they still had more time to develop feelings for each other than Hae Won and Eun Gyu did. They interacted...how many times? And even then those interactions were very shallow, forced, and unrealistic. I felt like half of the show was just Eun Gyu getting jealous rather than actual story development. The chemistry between them felt awkward in a way. There was no build up to it, either. Eun Gyu was jealous of Hae Won and Ji Soo from pretty much the very first time they interacted. It's hard to feel the chemistry between the two when they barely had any time to develop any kind of relationship and basically just liked each other from the get go.

maybe its just me but i loved it so much

i will start first about things that i didnt like and then end this review with what i loved.
*there is going to be spoilers here*
first it was so short, i really wish it was longer while i understand that korean bls for now are short , the plot is way too much simple too so basically there is not much going on in the serie. the issue between the bestfriends was solved but it was not clearly shown how they come to terms with it, again i understand that was rushed by how short the bl is so yeah.

what i loved is the main characters, can i talk about the chemistry? omg , i was really trying to not fangirl and i watched the serie in 1 day and yeah while the eps are so short im still not someone who watch a show in one day so thats surprising to me,the chemistry is so good ,they look so good together ,Hae Won is so so pretty ,the music is so beautiful too i did download one song from there in my phone and listen to it from time to time. i really loved the vibe the show is giving too,its cute and light and the ending was also satisfying,i really want a season 2 where it could be longer and they could make a more developped plot. while most of time i dont really enjoy korean bls because they are short ,i did really like this the most

Definitely rewatching this again

I literally binge-watched this tonight (30/10/2021) watching all the episodes. Absolutely adored every point of this story.
I know this was filmed during the pandemic so a lot of comments were complaining about how fast-paced and quick it was to end, but we got to understand we are still in the epidemic of this virus, no one wants it and everyone wants a drama that has more episodes and longer ones as well.

This drama was so sweet but sweet enough for me to research every actor of this drama and the OSTs. Male lead I couldn't believe was a former member of the k-pop group SPEED (totally adored that group, was saddened and upset when they announced their disbandment) but was quick to forget - he is truly an amazing actor for his debut project, I hope he gets more in the future.

I wasn't quite interested when it was first announced but all of my friends who are watching BLs recommended it to me and told me it has finished, I had to watch it and am quite sure I am in love with this. I would rewatch it again.
I am surprised that I work in this field of what they are filming that I would get annoyed but I love it, I am loving how BLs are going to mature surroundings than the consistent school or college atmosphere.
And that is why I have literally gotten myself to watch more Korean BLs.

And for those asking about the songs in the drama. He is the list for your all to search on your time and listen to them, They are on Spotify and Apple Music (Just search Tasty Florida and the songs should pop up).

But for those who want to know the title and artist are listed below

Part 1 : Florida - Yoo hwan, Woo Min, Kang Hyuk, Jae Hoon, Seung Jun (all the actors in this drama sang this song)

Part 2 : 러니 (RUNY) - STAR (너만의 빛)

Part 3 : 유환(Yuhwan) - It’s You

Part 4 : 2Z - All I Need [플로리다반점]

I hope you all enjoyed reading my comment. Let our hearts keep fluttering with this drama. Looking forward to the movie version of this.

A little gem.

This short drama was just so perfect! I will definatly watch this many more times.

No complicated story, just a sweet story about love at first sight, true friendship and listening to your heart.
I also love stories that involve food, so i was extra happy with this one.

The visuals are stunning, beautifull OST, the acting was perfect, the leads are gorgeous and have great chemistry.
All ingredients to make a perfect drama.

Need more Kbls like this

I’m not the biggest BL consumer but when I finish a BL it’s usually because it’s captivated me enough to finish it. I gave this a go after I found out Cha Woomin was here and I’m glad I did.

It’s short and sweet and usually bls like that are always fun and good. It gave me a lot of Semantic Error energy in the way it was filmed and how the actors acted and Semantic Error is my favourite BL of all time. I wish more KBLS were like this instead of overly sexualised and you can tell its made for a female audience who fetishise gay men rather than being a fan of this genre in general. This is mainly a big reason why I also can’t enjoy Thai Bl.

Anyway i’m getting way too off topic but this show was really good and it had a good build as well as a development. I’m guessing the budget wasn’t high because a lot of the things and plots in here were rushed but they did well with the time given to them. I hope more big actors star in BLs, it was nice to see a familiar face play a role like that. I hope Korea gets more open to it! Wonderful little show. Quick watch but fun and entertaining.
