Una de las series más bonitas que he visto

Alguna vez has visto una serie que te deja pensando en ella por días y sientes que no la podrás superar en mucho tiempo?
Así me sentí con Something in My Room.
Es que no tengo palabras. Digamos que el inicio es lento y hasta algo escalofriante, pero el desarrollo es uno de los mejores que he visto. Esta serie me dió unas vibras muy "cozy", como de aquellas series que se veía uno por allá en la pandemia, me generó un sentimiento de confort.

Al principio no esperaba que la química entre los personajes fuera tan buena, pero la serie tiene un crecimiento gradual que se va desarrollando hasta llegar al último episodio donde ya no los quieres ver separados.

Siento que lo que más me gustó es precisamente ese auto descubrimiento de ambos personajes. Desde el punto de vista de Phob que no recuerda nada y hace lo posible por conocer su propósito, mientras que Phat lo ayuda y también descubre cosas sobre él, y cómo juntos se van descubriendo a sí mismos y entre sí. La nobleza de Phat, la inocencia de Phob y el sufrimiento de ambos personajes hace que lleguen a conectarse de manera profunda. El potencial romántico va creciendo conforme avanza la historia hasta llegar a su climax. También amé los pequeños celos de Phat cuando Phob comienza a recordar su historia con Ben, el pequeño arco de la historia de Ben con Phob estuvo muy interesante y se sintió muy bien hecho, la química entre Phob y Ben también era muy buena y me hubiera gustado tener algo extra de ellos.

Es que ni puedo expresar lo mucho que me hizo sentir esta serie.

No soy de ver series más de una vez, pero el vacío existencial que me dejó me tiene repitiendo algunas partes. Siento que la música también ayudó mucho, en las partes cruciales de la historia aparecen los instrumentales que son muy bonitos y le añaden mucha sustancia a cada escena.

Siento que esta serie es una de esas joyas infravaloradas. Las actuaciones son muy buenas.

El único aspecto negativo que le ví fueron aquellos "plot holes" con el novio de Dream (que no me agradaba y me parecía un tóxico), y la historia de la misma Dream, no entiendo porqué introdujeron sus story lines si no los iban a desarrollar.

El final podrá ser controversial, pero yo pienso que fue el adecuado. Ya se venía venir pero al mismo tiempo todavía quedaba una esperanza en mí de que ocurriera algún milagro. Pero de igual manera, me conmovió de una manera intensa, no soy de llorar cuando veo series, muy pocas me mueven de esa manera, pero esta me tuvo llorando y pensando todo el resto del día en ese bonito final, que en mi opinión más honesta fue hermoso y todavía lo vuelvo a pensar y me vuelven a dar ganas de llorar.

Le doy un sólido 10, a pesar de los plot holes, porque la verdad siento que está infravalorada, y al final del día es una serie muy bien lograda en todo sentido. En serio quiero volver a verla por primera vez para volver a sentir todo lo que sentí mientras la veía. Siento que mi Review se queda corto con lo que de verdad pasa por mi cabeza en este momento. No me arrepiento para nada de haberla buscado.

Truly wonderful series

I think this is only the 3rd time I've rated something a 10. Note that this is a review of the uncut version - the cut version is significantly less good, and it also cuts out almost all the love scenes, which are mostly very well-done and lovely kissing.

The writing is excellent, and personal to the author, which shows in the realism of the writing. The characters are not 2D archetypes - they are complex and flawed, and there are no villains or heroes. The plot is well-thought out, and does not go for a cheap ending. The writing respects the intelligence of the audience, which is a nice change, and there are none of the tired cliches that seem to clog every BL. The two leads don't fit into two neat seme/uke boxes - they are fully realized characters, who react like normal people to situations. Even the house's protecting spirit is a complex character.

The acting is some of the best I've seen in a BL. Partly that's because there are a lot of adults with important parts and they cast very experienced and effective actors - but the two leads are fantastic in this. I thought Nut was terrible in Oxygen, but that must have been bad directing because he's amazing in this - he does the most realistic crying I've ever seen, managing to communiate real grief without childish sobbing. Green has a 2-ep role and he's truly spectacular, putting in a powerful performance (and he's clearly a trained dancer), again contrasting with The Tuxedo where he's distinctly underwhelming. Plan Thanawat as Phat is so cute I can't stand it, and on top of that he can really act - his character can be childish and self-absorbed in a realistic way, balanced by all his good qualities. I really hope we see a lot more of him.

This is not just a cute ghost meets boy story - it really explores how things don't always work out like we hoped, and the need to both seize happiness wherever you can find it, and let go of things you can't change, like the tragedies we all have to face - and even how sometimes you can't completely move on.

There was not a single episode that I walked away from disappointed. None of them are filler, and there is no manufactured drama in Ep 9. There are a few plot lines that probably seem pointless in the cut version, like a lot of Dream and Luck, but their story reinforces the importance of respecting each other's beliefs.

The music is great, from the theme to the use of classical music to the instrumental score, which which does a great job of supporting the story.

I really loved this, and for me it's the best BL of this year so far, and this is turning out to be a fairly strong year.
