Best of 2023

This year, lol I wont say many and pretend to be an MDL influencer, but this year my friends feeds and a few drama pages must’ve seen my bitter nagging Nancy complaining about the excessive use of the “wash, rinse and repeat” plot lines

Creativity is dead, many shows just depend on the cast name and come up with ridiculously overused plot moves in the same exact formula and order
But enough with nagging Nancy and let me say how this was different


For one, a calm elegant and truly smart and strong fl, that got to those characteristics by actual growth and steps
Second would be park gyu young, her poise, her charisma and her look truly made me believe she’d be a top M worthy influencer
Third would be the well use of cliches:
-poor fl/ rich ml; but ml wasn’t doing the thinking and problem solving for the fl
- not evil 2fl, an anti cliche that was HIGHLY welcomed. Tho they sure did play with our hearts and kept us guessing till the end by,
- 2fl is ml ex, the cliche that usually leads to said 2fl being basically crazy
- friend that feels jealous made sense well
- crazy jealous rich x btches, again they were a good bunch, typical but entertaining dad
There are probably others anyone can add :)


Then the twists, I thought they were spoon feeding us the plot into the same old endings
Ml died, fl was “murdered” by the rich btches if not 2fl and her psycho husband and the nation crying and completely forgetting their own involvement in making such a scary world



One other thing I liked was how everyone had a husband tho I must say that is the makjang way, usually romcoms would only have one friend that “lost to the pressure” and gave up on the single life xD

Bbbfamous, such a sad existence… idk how I feel about it tbh, sure ppl vent out their own mental struggles on others but are all depressed ppl who are envious and tired of the social pyramid should be considered evil?
Maybe cuz fl’s bff was the anti who was tired of living in the shadow and never seeing fame, was enough so bbbfamous had to have a different bg, tbh I’m atleast glad she was a “fake facade” rather than completely just “ugly/dirty”…
Ppl might think ah, so antis and haters are like that, crazy. But we only write support based on events so technically we’re not being antis
Like a scandal coming and everyone becoming keyboard warriors without fully knowing the truth but always carrying that info as the ultimate truth….

Anyway the last two eps went heavy on the twists and they sure did a mission impossible tho again it was a clever way to keep up with the modern times

Now for the deaths and drug, I mean it could be true but if it didn’t exist, how would’ve they continued? Basically it feels like a cheat sheet but atleast they used it once

Ari as a whole, was grey, but that’s the moral, is it worth it.. as someone who made a kdrama fan account on insta and TikTok, I did experience a few things that overall did make me believe the things happened were realistic
Using others to gain followers, buying followers, insta and TikTok having their own algorithm and hidden agendas on who and what gets viral, all are such stressful things honestly even scrolling through insta becomes suffocating when everyone is desperately screaming “look at me”. Thankfully I just edit drama clips so I don’t have to participate in that rat race sometimes I get 700k view’s sometimes I get 7 xD

I social sono pericolosi nelle mani sbagliate!

Se avete bisogno di un Drama diverso dal solito, pieno di colpi di scena e senza cliché, questo fa decisamente al caso vostro. Celebrity è un viaggio tra menzogne, cattiverie, subdoli piani e vendette.
La storia è ricca di colpi di scena, lineare e raccontata come un lungo flashback di avvenimenti accaduti prima di quello principale. Nulla è lasciato al caso, tutto ha un suo perché e piano piano ogni cosa viene rivelata. Questo Drama può essere classificato come thriller, crime e mistery.
La protagonista è stata meravigliosa, così come il protagonista che per una volta è ben diverso dai soliti protagonisti dei Drama coreani.
Nel complesso quindi è un Drama assolutamente da vedere.

Celebrity chronicles the journey of Seo A-ri (played by Park Gyu-young), who was born rich but is left to do part-time jobs after the family hits rock bottom. From not being on Instagram to becoming the numero uno ‘e-celeb,’ Seo A-ri’s brush with success and the horrors of it is what makes 'Celebrity' such an intriguing watch.

The drama exposes that it is no secret that artificial intelligence and the virtual world are quickly dominating our lives, and will soon become the absolute reality for many, and the consequences that comes with it. Celebrity’s' screenplay and writing are refreshing and honest. You can see that the writer is not taking a stand or lecturing you on how social media can become a horror story if you don't set boundaries. Instead, it tells you the very benefits of the platform which is not without its faults. The world can be condescending and conniving without any set rules. But your journey is a result of the choices you make. Right or wrong, is for you to choose.

Apart from standout performance by Park Gyu-young, the rest of the characters were perfectly blended as well. The climax of the show is very fast paced, with all the pieces suddenly solving the puzzle but it was thrilling nevertheless.

'13 Reasons Why With a Happy Ending + Revenge Twist'

Leaving a tape after s*cide. That's my warning to watching this.
But I thought, "I survived that, at least this time I can remind myself."
I knew that was going to happen so the happy ending is worth giving some thoughts to.
The word celebrity... For me, has always been, "people who are being celebrated". But there are celebrities who are merely celebrating their alter egoes. Everyone is a celebrity to people who celebrates them. I feel sad and pity the times we are not celebrated but only up until the choice of bad action have been yet to be made. This drama pointed that out.
IU's song "Celebrity" reminded me of this. So I had to watch it despite my aforementioned concerns. I, too, have been a fan. I, too, celebrated the work of these celebrities. I, too, despised them. I, too, was probably groomed on the internet to spread messages of hate on some people.
Artificial Intelligence. Yes. That too. I thought the bbb account was portrayed like an AI. Then they actually added AI to the script. Seeing that the premise is technology. Ngl, I got goosebumps everytime something happens on their feed. It really has achieved its genre, thrilling.
That so called society reminded me of the bullies in The Glory. I love the revenge plot on this one at the very end. It's not like TG where it's a revenge from the very beginning. Like I said, it's storytelling of the why's she did that to herself in the beginning and then the twist is you know.
Imbalance. I wish there were more happy scenes in this drama.
It was all too thrilling. And I did guessed some things right. The rich guy stuff especially. He wasn't there much but he got most/all the brunt. I got through the episodes saying "trigger warning: power imbalance".
I know this is netflix and so expected there were real brands mentioned. In dramas, there were always brands, but they could've chosen better brands that could add to the thrill...and not take out much screen time against the character's developments.
Lastly, cheap therapy is portrayed here. Really? Retail therapy? Spa therapy? But not really shedding light on real therapy? Instead, portrayed some mean people - adults who doesn't get real therapy, without mentioning real therapy. What I liked about The Glory so much is that she considered just going for therapy. Both the main leads did. It was such a heavy topic on that one. But not on this one.
To end, if you like thrills, you might consider this but if you can't handle what I've mentioned, I think there are better dramas to watch for you than this one, if not, please be advised.

A Must watch series.

Celebrity is a story which reflect today's social media's massive influence. It emphasizes on the power that mere words could have to build or destroy someone's reputation, influence and life entirely.

This series challenges both influencers and followers (fans) to be kind. To be mindful of what we post and what we say about people--influencers or not--online, as we do offline. Jealousy and greed are feelings that one could incur in one's social media involvement and this series boldly showed how these mere little feelings could have deeper roots and can become toxic to a person's mental health and wellbeing.

A well written, well produced series. Netflix surely has an edge on choosing series with values and life lessons to pick up from. The cast, Miss Park Gyu Young who played Seo Ari perfectly portrayed the character. Lee Chung Ah's portrayal of Yoon Si Hyeon was admirable and we could not resist Kang Min Hyuk's charm playing a cool but warm hearted CEO, Han Jun Kyung.

Indeed a must watch series.

Mais ou menos...

Se esse drama fosse um café, seria um café morno.

Começou com uma premissa interessante: falar sobre a vida nada discreta dos influencers ("celebridades"). Infelizmente, a medida que o drama progride, o potencial aparenta ser desperdiçado.

Apesar da atuação ser excelente, algumas cenas foram caricatas demais, o que fez que os personagens não tivessem muita profundidade.

Ainda sim, é um bom drama para assistir no tempo livre: Traz uma reflexão interessante, mesmo que não bem executada, sobre o lado falso da internet e sobre os haters.

Por fim, um salve para meu personagem preferido, JoonKyung. CEO podre de rico e egocêntrico que é obcecado pela protagonista pobre.
De todos os clichês desse drama, você foi o meu favorito.

Al principio, A-ri se muestra distante con respecto al tema de las redes sociales, pero la curiosidad termina ganándole y se adentra en un mundo tan denso como desconocido. Pecó de imprudente en muchas ocasiones y, en otras, se comportó de manera egoísta. En la mayoría de las escenas, su expresión se mantuvo inalterable, lo que me generó conflicto. Sin embargo, el final de su historia es satisfactorio. En el último episodio, sentí como si viera a la A-ri de antes, con aquella esencia que por momentos pareció perderse. En varias ocasiones, sus palabras no estuvieron alineadas con sus acciones; no obstante, el desenlace se sintió como una reivindicación.
En cuanto a las Gabin, considero que cada una cumplió bien su papel, aportando a la trama con sus personalidades marcadas. Sin embargo, en ocasiones resultaban insoportables con sus gritos y actitudes groseras hacia los demás, en especial Chae-hee. Por otro lado, me encantó el personaje de Si-hyeon, quien me pareció transparente desde el principio hasta el final.
El romance no es un tema muy presente en la historia. Disfruté las pocas escenas que hubo, aunque lo percibí un poco rígido, ya que tanto A-ri como Jun-kyoung carecían de expresiones incluso en esos momentos.
Algunas escenas se sintieron eternas, pero el final le sumó puntos. Es un drama con una trama interesante, aunque me hubiese gustado saber qué sucedió con las Gabin y los demás personajes. La escena del último episodio da la sensación de que las cosas aún no han terminado. Estaré expectante.

ótimos protagonistas, enredo bem construído e aborda bem esse mundo dos famosos e redes sociais.

terminei... primeiro falar sobre a beleza dessa atriz, que mulher linda, rouba toda a atenção da cena. sobre a protagonista, amo totalmente a personalidade dela, concordo em todas as escolhas e posicionamento, nada a reclamar, a postura (em andar, falar), o estilo... confesso que terminei de assistir pois queria acompanhar mais ela. a história é boa, os plot e até a ida e volta no tempo (algo que nunca gostei, aqui foi bem feito). é uma boa obra - nota 9 - para passar o tempo assistindo mas não será a obra da sua vida. mesmo que aborde temas complicados e até pesados, não passa um clima pesado, ponto muito importante para mim. se você gosta ou tem curiosidade sobre famosos ou gosta de acompanhar, gosta de reality e essas coisas, é uma boa recomendação. sobre o han jun kyung, é um ponto complicado a se falar... pois ele se tornou meu personagem masculino favorito entre todos que já conheci, é muito meu tipo, fico sem palavras para explicar, só senti isso em todas as cenas que eu o vi. foi um bom tempo.

mesmo que o começo seja ruim, nunca se julga um livro pelo primeiro capitulo

a história e atuação nesse aqui foram incríveis, tô incrédulo, fiquei apaixonado na sihyeon o dorama todo (acho que vou assistir outro dorama dela), porque mesmo com ela tendo passado o dorama todo com cara de pastel e poucas falas, ela serviu BELEZA e isso que importa!!!

escolheram a melhor atriz possível para interpretar a seo ari, ela é simplesmente insana, eles deram um bob e uma franja pra ela e disseram faça história mulher! e ela fez

eu tinha começado a assistir esse na época que tinha lançado, pois o trailer tinha me chamado atenção (além da song yuqi do gidle, que demorou para aparecer, mas é compreensível porque ela meio que chamou a atenção de bastante gente para assistir e ter audiência, então eles tinham que esperar uns episódios para apresentar a personagem dela), mas não passei do primeiro episódio porque além de preguiçoso que eu era pra assistir, ele não tinha me prendido logo de primeira, eu dei outra chance a ele recentemente pelo o motivo de eu gostar bastante das pautas/tema do dorama e acabei me prendendo, tem coisas que REALMENTE melhoram ao decorrer dos episódios a cada episódio que eu passava eu ficava mais ansioso para ver o próximo.
