The Cherry isn't Blossoming

Short Review:

Enjoyable series if you're looking for mindless fluff and eye candies on your screen. The actors are the highlight of the series, but everything else falls flat. Pacing is bad - story is too big to fit into 160 minutes. This could have worked better if each episodes were 50 minutes long OR if they made it into two seasons. Cinematography has its moments, but every shot in the classroom was amateurish at best. I usually don't mind bad cinematography but this one was particularly jarring to me. I do have to say though, this is a series I will still enjoy rewatching because the actors were just captivating together. But you do have to be quite forgiving of its flaws if you want to truly enjoy the series.

I kinda feel amazing this day! That Korean BL series/movie are growing in this movie industry. You know, amidst racist and discrimination they gave us something realistic ideas and stories.

I just watched 3 episodes and I can't wait for the rest to come. I'm so excited to what happens next, so better not expect the unexpected. I'm looking forward for their love story 💗

And I'm sorry to say but I have to share this one!😆

Spoiler- it's funny to think that haebom drinking the coffee cup lid backward 😆 - LOL I know it's an "as if" drinking coffee scene but it happens thrice like wtf, they should've done better.

Anyways, small details like these can ruin the authenticity of acting.

it's ok (but frustrating & a bit boring)

As of now I haven't finished watching it yet but I couldn't wait to write this review - unfortunately not for a good reason. At first i was really excited to watch it, it had been on my watchlist for some time now and i had heard good things about it! The storyline seemed simple and typical and i was curious as to how this drama would interpret the highschool romance story that we all know and love so much!

There's the typical damsel in distress ML and the shining knight in armour love interest, the wacky friends, the bullies etc. etc. nothing wild over there or particularly interesting or outstanding. and that's not a problem at all! what was a problem was the execution of it. I think perhaps because of the title and the synopsis i was expecting some darker themes and some more drama and personal conflict between the two ML which we were not given. I blame this on the short runtime.

And with this I don't mean the episode 11 curse thai BL have but i mean that i would have liked it if they showed more of what the characters were feeling and what that made them do or think.., which brings us to the acting. The acting was alright for the story as it did not delve too deep so it didnt require a lot and it is watchable but sometimes leaves you wanting more. the two ML are handsome enough to save it but it saddens me that they didn't use their full potential. there is some chemistry between the two ML and plenty of fluff, but i think the tension and the chemistry could have been more present if some of the scenes where we feel this tension and chemistry, weren't cut off so soon!!! for example, the part where they share the cream bun: it was cut off very suddenly and not discussed at all in the next episode! we as the audience do not get 'closure' from that and we do not know how the characters feel after that which is frustrating. It made some of the transitions feel too rushed and the pacing was also affected by this in my opinion. It also left me unable to connect properly to the ML. Why give us chemistry/tension if it will not have consequences for their relationship? shouldn't it drive the story forward?
Perhaps an uncut version would have shown us more? Who knows...
I did like the ensemble cast a lot! the bullies were believable, the friends really did seem to like each other and had great banter, but also cared about each other and the mom was amazingly sweet and admirable, especially for taking in the son of one of her friends - I would've loved to see more of her and haebom's mom.
what i also liked was the lighting and the setting. It was a pretty series.
All in all, it is not the best bl drama out there, but still a fun watch if you're not looking to invest too much and just like fluff. it's just kind of boring (which is worse than being offensive tbh).

one of the best slow burn

Honestly, when I first watched this on Viki and I was like about to watch it right and I got through like a few minutes of it and then I was like not like I don’t wanna watch this like it’s not really like interesting to me right and like the characters aren’t hot and then it was the other day where I saw an edit of it and I was like oh my God like I need to watch this and after I got through that like five minute mark I was like this has caught my eye like it is so good and it’s a slow burn but also one of the main characters has had a crush on the other main character for 12 years and it’s just really well scripted and I think the acting is super good and it’s like so cutie like it’s one of those drawers that’s like oh like how sweet like that is actually adorable and like I’m hate suborn romances I hate them so much but this is one of the very few that I can actually deal withand it’s just so good I love this scripting and the character development. They did really well with the character development and just like the little like hin parts like they’ll say something like at the first part of the show and then it will come up again in this really cool way like during the end of the show

Very cozy series

The series is very cozy and warm and brings a smile to my face....even thought the camera angles of shooting the drama could have been way better but overall this drama is a must watch for bl fans. The acting was good and storyline was also interesting and pleasant. It has only 8 episodes so its perfect for people who are very busy and don't have so much time to watch dramas(for example me)

No chemistry

I didn’t feel the chemestry between them... Good it’s only 8 episodes. I gave 5.5 stars because I kept watching, so it wasn’t the worst, but the acting wasn’t natural at all. I was embarrassed a few times because of the acting. I kind of liked the story itself. maybe it would’ve been better if there were more problems or if something really happened. Now it’s only the bullying for a few episodes and the mom that doesn’t approve at first. The drama might be too short to really bring a story. I won’t rewatch this one.

So simple and at the same time so beautiful.

A story told in a very simple way, with characters that are easily loved and the feelings it has are clearly appreciated.

So simple to see and so beautiful at the same time that in that simplicity it ties you to the story and makes you want to see more and more because you see through the eyes of the protagonist and sometimes it even gives you the sensation of being able to experience what the protagonist feels. character.

Too beautiful indeed.

An Easy Going, Cute, and Comfy Type of BL Series

Cherry Blossoms after Winter is such a fluffy, cute, and comfy BL Series to watch. The setting of the story is the usual high school type wherein the characters are in their teen age. However, the main characters already knew each other since they were kids since they are living in the same house.

The story revolves around Haebom & Taeseong. When they were kids, their mothers are super close. Unfortunately, Haebom's parents got in an accident, causing him to get adopted by Taeseong's family. At first, he did not want Haebom to live with them, since he likes him ever since. But this was misinterpreted by Haebom and he thought that Taeseong hates him, causing a misunderstanding between the two, and for them to become not close until they became classmates in high school.

When they became classmates, Taeseong witnessed Haebom being bullied. As someone who is pessimistic, Haebom never fought back. Thankfully, Taeseong finally knew about the bullying, and decided to stop it by defending Haebom. Ever since this happened, both of them became close, and rumors about them being a gay couple was spread by the bullies. Eventually, the rumors died down and the bullies stopped.

In the day of Taeseong's birthday, Haebom asked him on what gift he wanted. At first, he said that the gift he wants is "You", but later on changed into drinking together. That night, Haebom got so drunk to the point that he cried because he missed his parents. Taeseong, can't control himself, kissed Haebom. When they woke up, Haebom can't remember a thing from that night, causing Taeseong to get angry. After this scene, Taeseong's feelings cannot be stopped anymore and he confessed to Haebom.

In short, the story is all about two male leads, wherein one has feelings on the other, but cannot confess to him.

The story is just light and easy to understand. The good thing is that the viewers can follow on what is happening on the series, because of how well written the whole series is. I feel like the technicalities of the series also helped, in a way that since the series is so light, the scenes also are, in terms of the color grading of each scene. The songs used was also correlated with the scenes because they are so fit together, I'm talking about the melody since I cannot understand the Korean language that was being sung in the songs.

In terms of the actors acting, I love them both so much. The most important part of their acting is how they made the viewers comfortable through their acting. They also let out the emotions that was needed to be portrayed in each scenes. Can we talk about how pretty Haebeom cries? He is just so good at it that I feel sad for his character. Their chemistry was also on point. They are just so cute together that it makes me smile throughout the whole series.

I just felt somewhat questionable to the story. Since they were living in the same house since they were kids, is it really possible that the two of you will not be close and friends with each other? I mean, they are literally just three persons in that house, yet they managed to avoid and not talk to each other. Anyways, this is fiction, so nevermind.

In totality, Cherry Blossoms after Winter is a really good South Korean BL series that everyone needs to watch if they need a series wherein they only want to smile all throughout the series.

adopted brothers who haven't spoken for the past 12 years, some how find love

The average for this one was 8.75 stars out of 10 stars. So I rounded down to an 8.5 stars out of 10 stars. I don't know what my headline is going to be yet. This was a light watch with a mid-plot. I am going to see what my reviews are for the episodes and just overanalyze because there's literally nothing else I can talk about. The show jumped around a lot, like huge time skips that left me confused as fuck. They could have filled them in, added a few more episodes, and pulled on our heartstrings some more. The acting was also pretty mid, but that's fine. Usually the plot makes up for it, but this time it didn't, sadly. Okay.

Starting off, it was a pretty cutesy show. I already knew it was going to be light work. Haebom's actor was a cutie, and I fell in love with him and the vibe of his character. We had some adopted brothers who hadn't had actual conversations since they were literal children. That was interesting because they were not even talking to each other at home or at school. I could tell one of them thought of the other as more than just an adopted brother, just because of the awkward tension and vibes the two of them gave off.

I would have finished this sooner, but work sucks. I started this 11 hours ago today, and then episode 2 three hours ago. We met Haebom's "friends" the two annoying motherfuckers. One who outmatched the other one in annoyingness. I could tell what Haebom's character was just by the way he was being treated by those two, the way he thought, and the way the people around him looked at him.

I was thinking that the whole Haebom going to college thing was going to be an issue because they brought it up like five times. It wasn't, which is good, I guess. We find out that Taesung has a crush on our baby, and I thought it was going to be the other way around for sure. The headline goes crazy; I just made it. It was some one-sided childhood romance on top of a high school trope. So they were just smacking tropes in here, lol.

The mom. I love her, but I could tell she was going to be a problem in the future because of the way she worries. That was the prediction I got right; the other ones I didn't get right. Then the high school phased out so fast that I didn't even know that they were going to college or university already. That made me very confused.

The two of them work themselves out and figure it out. And keep going, which was good, because I hate when we are waiting on the couple to work their shit out and not other people trying to tear them apart. That just gets on my nerves.

I was manifesting their downfall for some reason. I am going to bring it up again because they needed to explain the jump. Bro was like, Yeah, I talked to my dad. Who we didnt even see and the moms said no. And tae is like I am moving out and taking haebom. And the mom just lets them. Like what? Some confusing ass shit

The mom was unintentionally ruining them because of keeping secrets and all that jazz. In the end, she just wanted the best for them. So good for her. just poorly executed. Yeah, that's kind of it.

The ending was mid, but it was a short show that was cute and easy to watch. I liked the visuals and the vibes; just the plot and acting were mediocre, like the ending. That's really it. Okay bye!

Fluff, Flat, Forced

The story in Cherry blossoms after winter could have been interesting in some ways, however it doesn't work at all here. The dialogue, set environments and overall interactions between characters felt forced, flat, most of the time unnatural and not believable. The tropes and interactions are very cliche and cringey at times, and the story between the two leads feels very unfulfilling and spontaneous with the background we're given. I'll give some props to the lead actors for the amount of chemistry they were able to have at some points being there were some decently romantic moments, however the overall performances felt very mundane. I don't want to say it was the acting exclusively because the script was very clearly low quality. Any conflict felt too quickly solved, everything in general felt too sudden and more often than not, boring. The only story line that felt somewhat interesting was with the mother's, and even then It could have been done a lot better. If what you are interested in is an untraditional BL that involves "brothers" falling in love like Cherry Blossoms, I'd highly recommend "Unknown", a Tai BL adapted from the "Da Ge" Novel by Priest, which I also recommend. A way more interesting plot with heavy themes, lots of character depth, a believable world and love story; it really is on another level than Cherry Blossoms. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Cherry blossoms after winter, but if you're into fluffy romance and don't mind a very predictable, cliche, flat production then knock yourself out I guess.

Its a really good drama to watch

This drama has a good trope and I love it the only thing that I don't like about it though is the fact that the mom is homophobic at first. Overall this drama is an amazing show to watch and if you haven't watched it then you should watch it at least once but if you have watched it once then you should probably watch it again because it's a really good drama.

Worth the watch

I already completed reading the manhwa with the same title. The plot and story is completely pure, cute and fluffy.
As of now, after watching the first episode, I found the same adaption from manhwa and drama is quite fast paced.

I am very excited to see the characters (from manhwa) in persons and I found every character played their roles well. Acting is to the point. No awkwardness.
For those who are not aware of the genre.. ITS BL💜
Homophobes please skip it.
As a huge fan of BL, I really loved the manhwa and drama (ep 1) as well.
Though it may seem a bit early to give good review just watching first episode, I can guarantee that its worth the watch.
I totally recommend watching this drama.
