A Heartbreakingly Beautiful Story of Unconditional Love and True Identity
The Story and Its Unique Emotional DepthDNA Says Love You is a rare gem in the romance genre that starts as a sweet, mysterious story and evolves into a deeply moving exploration of identity and unconditional love. The plot revolves around childhood friends reuniting under unexpected circumstances, carrying heavy secrets from the past. What makes this drama stand out is how it addresses themes of self-discovery and transformation. It challenges traditional romance tropes by proving that a soul-to-soul connection can transcend societal norms and physical changes, making the emotional payoff incredibly powerful and tear-jerking.The Characters and Their Deep ConnectionThe dynamic between the leads is incredibly tender, protective, and loaded with emotional weight. When the truth about the past and their identity begins to surface, the raw vulnerability from both actors is outstanding. The main lead's unwavering acceptance and protective instincts create a beautiful, safe haven for his partner. Their chemistry doesn't rely on typical fanservice; instead, it is built on deep-rooted loyalty, shared memories, and a love so pure that it embraces a person completely for who they truly are inside.Atmosphere and Emotional ExecutionThe series does a fantastic job of building a melancholic yet hopeful atmosphere. The pacing allows the mystery of the past to unfold naturally, building up to emotional revelations that will easily make you cry. The cinematography is soft and intimate, perfectly capturing the subtle shifts in emotion, while the beautiful soundtrack amplifies the bittersweet tone of the entire journey.VerdictThis is a groundbreaking and breathtakingly beautiful drama that handles very sensitive, rare themes with immense respect and maturity. If you love stories about fierce devotion, profound emotional healing, and a love that truly transcends everything, this series is an absolute must-watch. Bring tissues, because it will touch your heart in ways you won't expect. Was this review helpful to you?
Truly BL, truly queer
The series follows a classic boy meets boy plot line with a twist. The twist, one you can never expect, no matter how well you prepare for it. It is beautiful, sweet, lovely, just everything good you need for a good binge watch. The music and cinematography are amazing, truly one of the best BLs out there!

Interesting Premise But Weak Execution
I don't know if it was the writing, or acting, or directing, or cinematography, or editing, or maybe even some cultural differences in perception--But all the scenes read very bland to me.
I don't think the actors were doing a poor job in believability. But there were no deeper emotions attached to their actions in the scenes. Even when some stereotypical romance setups happened, it felt like i was only watching it happen. I couldn't feel what either character was feeling at any time. Rather than a piece of fiction with developed characters, i felt like i was just spying on these events happening to real people. I was missing the emotion. It seemed absent
I gave this series the old college try and watched 4 episodes. But at this point i don't think there's anything the series can deliver me that will make it worth finishing.
It's a shame because the premise of the series is still quite interesting to me. Only the execution is lacking.

9/10 A very original plot, with mature development and quite a nice cast.
9/10 A very original plot, with mature development and quite a nice cast.I was really pleasantly surprised by this BL series. I suppose the main reason is the originality of the plot. Everything starts with a certain focus on some friends trying to develop a vlog channel, when a "newcomer" enters the scene. Then slowly our attention shifts on the new relationships develop, and equally importantly, on how these ones affect the old ones. When secrets slowly get revealed, the plot thickens.
What I really liked about this particular aspect, is that the secrets themselves, although they trigger changes, it is not their revelation per se but rather their effects on which the story concentrates.
The acting is quite good. Perhaps not stellar, but then again it is not needed. This is one of the rare cases in such series, that the emotions of the characters are adequately described by their actions, and therefore overly emotional outbursts are not really necessary (which does not mean that the characters are blunt, it is simply that the series does not rely exclusively on the chemistry between couples). I also liked the side couple's story, which beyond filling air time also supports the plot (having been an established couple for four years). All characters are mature (in the sense that they adults and use their heads, but also grow as time passes by. Perhaps they are all a little bit too good-hearted, but then again this does not save them from pain (which for a change does not stem from a crooked world or a particular big bad wolf).
Perhaps some viewers will be perplexed about the existence or not the temple our adventurers are looking for, but in my opinion this is completely irrelevant. The quest more than adequately serves its purpose in offering material for the vlogs - it gives the backbone but not the flesh and blood to the plot. It is nice to occasionally have a story which is different, in that it makes you think a little bit, and not just brainlessly cry your eyes out.
Compared to the overall rating of the series, give it a relatively low rating for the rewatch value. This is no contradiction, it is simply a consequence of the genre. It is neither a comedy, where one wants to listen to funny lines again and again, nor a sweet romance, where one simply wants to enjoy passion. Here we are dealing mainly with realizations, which per definition are absent in any subsequent second run.

Was this review helpful to you?

Simplesmente maravilhosa
