SHORT BUT INTENSE
Found out about this movie after seeing that the drama sequel will be released in May 2025!
The movie is short but intense and I loved it!! The zeal and emotion of the boy was amazing! No one should stay bullied for that long too!!
Because it’s a movie the full story wasn’t told and I’m happy we’re getting a drama version which will have more plot and storyline!!
Hopefully, all cast members will still be there, cause they all did amazingly well!!
I can’t also wait to watch Do-Hyun’s get his own revenge and more of WooLsun fight!!

Brutal but heart-warming
The only people I would NOT recommend this to are those who can’t handle bloody fights.But for everyone else I highly recommend it!!
The story is simple, yes, but it brought out all kinds of emotions, frustration, worry, sadness, hope, excitement, relief and content. There wasn’t a boring moment.
The only reason I don’t want to give it 10 points is because it was just too short. I wish we could have seen more. Not of the fights or training, but of the boys bonding. Them laughing, crying, working and surviving together. It all went by too fast.
Other than that I really don’t have anything to complain about. The acting was great, the music was good and the camerawork was equally as great.

The mid movie
It's just another movie that you can't be mad for wasting your time after watching it or be excited to recommend it either it's just a movie you watch once to kill boredom but you probably would forget about it the next day but to be fair the fighting scene are quite good but nothing else too good to note other then thatWas this review helpful to you?
Okay Watch
I'm usually a sucker for these kinds of movies. It has the underdogs, the action and the bromance. However, none of those really hit that much, all aspects of it kind of feel "meh". The movie tried to present a lot of different characters, but none of them were developed, so no one felt "real". Which then made it impossible to connect to them. It comes to the point that I didn't care what would happen to anyone. The action scenes were literally all the same, he gets beat up over and over again, then gets up and suddenly takes over the fight. Throughout, I kept waiting for the moment the movie will hook me, only for the end to come.Was this review helpful to you?
Shark: The Beginning — One of the Best Webtoon Adaptations I've Seen
As someone who already loved the webtoon, I was both excited and nervous when Shark: The Beginning was announced. Too many webtoon adaptations lose what made the original special. Thankfully, this isn't one of them. From beginning to end, it captures the same determination, pain, and hope that made me love the source material.The story is much more than a simple school bullying drama. It's about someone who has everything taken away from him and has to rebuild himself from nothing. Every setback makes Cha Woo Sol stronger, not because he suddenly becomes invincible, but because he slowly learns that surviving sometimes means changing completely. That progression feels believable, and I found myself rooting for him during every fight.
Kim Min Seok is absolutely fantastic.
I've always thought he has something unique as an actor. No matter how physically strong his characters become, he keeps this innocent look that immediately makes you want to protect him. That quality is perfect for Woo Sol. Even while learning how to fight, he never loses the vulnerability that defines the character. It makes every victory feel earned instead of inevitable.
It's also impressive to see the physical work he put into the role after returning from military service. The training sequences look convincing because he clearly committed to becoming this character rather than simply acting the part.
The supporting cast is equally strong, especially Wi Ha Joon. His presence completely changes the atmosphere whenever he appears on screen. Rather than becoming a stereotypical mentor, he creates a relationship with Woo Sol that is built on respect, discipline, and mutual understanding. Watching their dynamic develop became one of my favourite parts of the film.
The action scenes deserve special praise. They're brutal without becoming unrealistic, and every punch has consequences. Instead of trying to create flashy martial arts choreography, the film focuses on survival, making every fight feel dangerous.
Final Thought
Shark: The Beginning proves that a great webtoon adaptation doesn't need to reinvent the source material. It simply needs to understand why readers fell in love with it in the first place. Kim Min Seok delivers one of my favourite performances of his career, and I honestly hope this isn't the last time we see Woo Sol's story continue.

Le vrai combat, c’est celui contre soi-même...
J’ai maté ce film sans trop savoir à quoi m’attendre, et franchement... Je me suis prise une droite émotionnelle dès le départ 🥊. Le spitch a l’air simple, un ado harcelé, paumé, qui se retrouve enfermé dans un centre de détention… et là, sa vie bascule. Mais ce qu’on ne m'a pas vendu, c’est le tsunami intérieur que j'allais prendre en pleine face 🤣Ce film, c’est une masterclass de glow-up... 😏. Le vrai, celui qui passe par la douleur, le doute, les bleus au corps et à l’âme. Yoon, il part de rien, mais genre vraiment rien... Il se fait écraser, humilier, il veut juste disparaître. Et puis il rencontre un ancien champion de MMA, brut de décoffrage… et c’est là que tout commence 🥶🔥
La dynamique entre les deux est pépite... Pas besoin de blabla, tout passe par les regards, les silences tendus, les gestes précis. Le mentor il est pas là pour faire le bisounours, il pousse Yoon à se relever, à cracher ses peurs, à se battre pour exister. Et fiou… j’ai kiffé 😮💨👍🏻
J’ai kiffé aussi que le film aille à l’essentiel mais il dit tout. Chaque scène est tendue, chaque entraînement claque, chaque combat m'a pris au tripes🥊👊🏻. Après il n' y a pas que de la castagne, y'a aussi ce parcours intérieur, ce moment où le ML comprend que la vraie victoire c’est pas juste de gagner un combat, c’est de redevenir "acteur" de sa propre vie 👊🏻✨
Après même si c’est un film (format court), j’ai eu cette sensation de vivre une vraie évolution, pas juste une vengeance express... On le voit s’endurcir, douter, chuter, recommencer… jusqu’à cette scène finale où je me suis dis... "ok, le petit poisson est devenu un requin 🦈🥹"
Est-ce que j’en voulais plus ?!? Carrément 😅. Est-ce que j’ai été frustrée que ça s’arrête ?!? Oui. En plus j'ai pu directement enchaîné avec la SO2 j'ai eu du mal à la trouver...
En résumé, "Shark: The Beginning", c’est pas juste un film de baston... C’est une montée en puissance émotionnelle, un combat contre soi-même, un uppercut dans les tripes, et j’ai kiffé fort !!! 🫶🏻🔥✌🏻
