A Solemn Tale of Love, Redemption and Reconciliation

Love. Death. Redemption. Realization.

Life is full of never truly looking at ourselves while also learning to understand exactly who we are.

And this is precisely the kind of story the Thai BL 7 Days Before Valentine offers. It’s a theatrical, intense story about a man named Sunshine whose love life hangs by a thread. Just as he grapples with the daunting task of charting his life’s course after an unexpected breakup, fate intervenes in surprising ways. A mysterious Cupid reaper, wielding powers beyond comprehension, emerges with a proposition: to restore Sunshine’s lost love within the span of seven days by having him wish away a person each night. Yet, as the intricate web of fate unfurls, it becomes clear that every boon comes with a price. As Sunshine embarks on a journey of choice and reflection, he learns that some lessons are worth their weight in gold.

Philosophical and original epic tale

This drama does not deserve the current rating (7.1/10). I can't help but think if the main leads were played by more well known actors, the rating would've gone through the roof! They might not have done as good a job as the actual main leads, though. These men put on the show of their lives. Atom especially absolutely floored me with his performance, he is truly an amazing actor.

The overall feel of the drama is somewhat melancholy, very much in line with the story, which is an epic tale about life and death, love and regret. The dialogue is riddled with poetic and philosphical lines. With this theres a danger of cringe, but that never happens thanks to the immaculate delivery. Except for the audition scene, where Sunshines agony poors out. I felt there was a bit of overacting going on here.

There is no NC scene, but the chemistry is absolutely there. Not the raw sensual kind, but the slowly falling in love and getting to know eachother kind. There are a few (near) kisses and these are actually enough.

The story is reminiscent of supernatural Kdramas, with the twists of fate, the agonizing dilemma's and letting go of your love . The feel is Epic, with a capital E.
The music deserves an honorary mention. No typical BL tunes here. Jazzy, indie tunes kiss your ears like a smooth summer breeze.

So if you're in for a drama about love, philosophy, referencing Faust and MacBeth, with amazing acting and a melancholy feel, watch this and be amazed.

This Underrated Series Stole My Heart!!!

I never expected to like this series. I ended up loving it.

The acting is a solid 10/10 it was SO good. Especially a scene where Sunshine auditions for a play, I sobbed.
The plot is so solid, I wasn't left confused or annoyed, I was invested the entire time. It has such a big message about being able to let go and selfishness, it was really beautiful and full of angst. The stories they told like fairytales were some of my favorite parts.

There is a big slow-burn dynamic which was absolutely amazing. The relationship between Q and Sunshine was an amazing mystery to unravel, and the ending-- without spoiling anything I'll just say that it was more than perfect. When they both say a single word at the same time a big realization was revealed. It was so beautiful, emotional, profound, and it made it to my favorites. I wish more people would watch this series.

Let the Cringe Pass. The Truth Will Find You.

"This is not your typical BL — and that’s exactly why you need to finish it."

I almost quit this show.
Maybe you will too.
But don’t.

"7 Days Before Valentine" isn’t your typical BL — in fact, it barely follows the genre’s familiar beats. There’s no fanservice. No cliché relationship milestones. No constant kissing. What you get instead is fantasy, theatre, emotion, and a story that unfolds like a puzzle piece slipping into place only at the very end.

Yes, the characters are literally named Sunshine, Rain, Air, Earth. ( I thought... "weatherforecast name list? what on Gods named Earth is this???")
Yes, it feels a bit odd at first — theatrical, even cringey.
But what starts off as strange slowly reveals itself to be intentional — and meaningful. Those names? They’re not random. That odd vibe? It becomes atmosphere. It becomes message.
Especially Sunshine. His acting in the beginning can feel over-the-top, awkward, almost like he’s performing in a play rather than on screen. It makes you want to just yell at him and tell him to shut up.
But as the story deepens, you start to realize: that’s part of the design. The exaggerated delivery, the stage-like dialogue, the surreal atmosphere — it’s not lazy directing, it’s intentional.

This series leans into a theatrical style — more like a fantasy stage play than a modern TV drama but is designed on a tv series set — and the longer you stay with it, the more that style starts to make sense. It’s not meant to be realistic. It’s meant to be symbolic. Every odd line and melodramatic beat reflects the blurred space between life and death, dream and memory, denial and acceptance.

This is a show about memory, mortality, forgiveness, and fate.
It’s about realizing the truth, not just about someone else, but about yourself.
And when you finish it — really finish it — you’ll want to rewatch it just to trace every hidden thread you didn’t know was there.

What truly elevates this show is the chemistry between the characters.
Not just romantic tension — but something deeper. Connection.
Whether it’s conflict, grief, guilt, or understanding — every interaction feels like it matters. The way a glance lingers. The way a smile fades just too slowly. The way one character’s pain seeps into another’s silence. It’s not about big gestures — it’s about the unspoken.

Even the most fleeting scenes feel charged, like the characters know more than they’re letting on — and so do we.

Some people think 12 episodes was too long. Some say it should’ve ended at episode 10.
But I think 12 was perfect.
It gives the puzzle room to spread. It gives the weight of the final truths time to land. It gives us space to breathe — to reflect, to grieve, to understand. The last two episodes don’t drag — they settle. And that settling is what makes the full picture hit even harder.

Yes, there are flaws. Yes, some moments are strange.
Yes, there’s supposed cheating that gets addressed in unexpected ways.
But if you walk in expecting a polished, fan-service-heavy BL, you’ll miss the point.
This isn’t trying to be shiny. It’s trying to be real.

If you quit early, you’ll miss everything.
You’ll miss the pain. The forgiveness. The music. The reveals. The meaning of “Q.”
You’ll miss the point where you stop judging — and start feeling.

My advice?
Let the cringe pass.
Watch with curiosity instead of expectation.
And when it hits you — because it will — don’t be surprised if you’re left speechless.
Not because of some shocking twist, but because of how quietly and beautifully it all makes sense.

This is more than a BL. It’s a spiritual experience dressed as a strange little drama. And it's one of the most underrated series I’ve ever seen.

Underrated. Unconventional. Unmissable.

I made this account just to leave this review. That’s how much this story meant to me.

And if you ever find yourself wanting to understand it deeper — every symbol, every twist, every hidden layer — know that I’ll be making a full breakdown and analysis somewhere, someday. When I’m ready to rewatch and relive the whole thing, I’ll come back to it. I have to. Because there’s still more in this show that I haven’t unlocked yet. Still more yet to be discovered and understood. Still more to be realized. A narrative with a heartbeat and a reality that speaks truths.

📝 My Scores & Why I Gave Them:
🔹 Story – 10/10
Original, layered, and emotionally ambitious. It doesn’t just tell a story — it reveals one. The narrative doesn’t chase perfection; it chases meaning. By the time you reach the final act, everything clicks. The story might not hold your hand, but it does hold your heart.

🔹 Acting/Cast – 9.5/10
There’s no denying some of the performances, especially Sunshine’s early on, feel overly theatrical — even jarring. But once you settle into the show’s rhythm, that style makes sense. And underneath it all, the cast shares a subtle, lived-in chemistry. Not loud, not flashy — just real.

🔹 Music – 9.5/10
The soundtrack doesn’t beg for attention — it lingers. Some tracks hit with emotional precision, others pass quietly but deepen the moment without you realizing. It’s one of those soundscapes that grows on you — and haunts you after the final scene.

🔹 Rewatch Value – 10/10
This is not a one-watch drama. The first viewing is about feeling. The second is about understanding. There are lines you’ll hear differently. Scenes that will mean more. Expressions that carry weight you missed. The kind of show that keeps whispering back to you long after it’s over.

🔹 Overall – 9.5/10
Not because something was “missing” — but because, honestly, nothing needs to be perfect to be a masterpiece. That’s the truth. That’s the message. This show embraces its flaws. It dares to be awkward. It doesn’t polish itself for perfection — it delivers something real, raw, and poetic. And for that alone, it’s unforgettable.

Realized, signing out.

a must-watch to me!

SOOOOOO good. i almost didn't watch it because of the reviews on here but i think i've learned not to trust this website now, cause this has got to be one of the best BL i've seen. i'm sure there were plotholes, but overall it felt like so much love was put into the writing of the story and the characters, and the pacing felt just right, nothing was rushed in the way it often happens when they sideline the plot for the romance. love me a fantasy, and this really left me satisfied and reminded me of what i love about the genre.

Y'all are haters.

What the title says, y'all are haters.

This show deserves a higher review so I'm leaving this here. Obviously to each there own, but some of y'all are just hating on this serious bc y'all have brain rot TikTok attention span and hate when bl's actually have plot and it isn't just 2 guys kissing.

You complain about bls being bad etc, but when y'all actually have to watch something you asked for "it's boring".

You have the attention span of a rat.

Stop watching plotless dog shit and watch real shows for once.

Frustrating but enthralling

Going into this show you need to understand that the protagonist is the MOST frustrating character you will ever encounter, with a redemption arc that comes late in the show. With that in mind, it is still a very good show to watch. I enjoy watching shows that tackle social commentary with unique means and this is exactly what this show does. You get to reflect on society and yourself as well throughout the show. The cinematography was beautiful and that aided in the overall storytelling. Why this is not a 10/10 show for me was mostly because of the main character, I understand that he is supposed to be unreasonable and I also understand that we are supposed to follow along his growth journey with him, but I have a short temper so it was hard to watch sometimes. But that's more of a me problem, not anything inherently wrong with this show. All in all, this is a great show to watch and then ponder on some more in your free time.

P.S.: This is not really a BL in the way that you think of one. It is a love story that entails men if that makes sense.

Of actions and consequences

Honestly speaking, I didn't catch a lot of the symbolism and easter eggs they probably hit us with because I wasn't in the right mood to be paying attention to all the details when I started. What did catch my attention (and made me inevitably pay more attention to the rest of the series) was the balance between actions and the subsequent aftermath. Butterfly effect, ripple effect, every action has an equal and opposite reaction, whatever you want to call it.

I watched a lead make bad and impulsive decisions whose after effects he only feels a while later, being guided by a jaded and patient lead with a dark past that led him down the path he was currently on. I watched them navigate situations messily, learning lessons along the way, and growing (even though it took a while for one of our leads to do it, while all our other lead needed was closure).

The show is shot in a very art house manner, theatric, with twelve acts, scene lighting, long conversations and an air of sombre. It's slow and dramatic, but stick with it and you get to witness a story of love and loss, growth, acceptance, forgiveness, a story written on the shores of sadness. All of this leads to one of the best finales I've watched, truly. Stories like this usually end on an open note, but the point of the series was closure, and we do get it.

Sombre, sorrowful and full of meaning that I may not have quite caught onto, but it did make an impact.

Nice inter-time love story, heavily influenced by Goethe and Genki Kawamura

I recently started watching this series, and was immediately captivated. The storyline pretty straightforward: Sunshine makes a pact with a supernatural being, who grants him 7 wishes in order to bring his boyfriend back (very much like Dr. Faustus did with the devil in the classic novel by Goethe, however to a different end), and for this has a price to pay. The price for every wish is to make someone disappear from the world (an idea very similar to the exceptional novel "If Cats Disappeared From The World" by the Japanese author Genki Kawamura, which cost me two sleepless nights). Each wish predictably leads to unanticipated results, which gradually teach Sunshine a lesson about life and complexity. The story is based on the book by Patrick Rangsimant, but (at least the few pages that I read) there are differences, especially with respect to the overall atmosphere. In fact I like the adaptation more. I cannot tell about the actual plot and its ending, since the series is ongoing.

The acting is quite good, and the two main lead characters have great chemistry (according to some research I did, which I am not sure is correct, this reflects their relationship in real life). Despite the reason for it, they definitely are very convincing.

Technically the series is good, the sound background very nice, cut and angles are very good.

Having said that, I do have some criticism as well. I am not a huge fan of overall dramatized stories (you know the one that make you cry all the time). I like emotions to come in finite portions, while here (especially in the last episodes), the drama simply grows and grows. It is not a perpetual whining yet, but I feel that the series would gain more with a touch of down-to-earth objectivity. But this is a matter of personal taste perhaps. The second (rather technical?) thing that bothers me are the countless flash-backs, which not always serve a purpose. I would go for shorter episodes, since rewatching so many scenes again and again in most cases brings no new information.

As a whole, I am really enjoying this series, which gratefully is not another high-school puppy-love BL drama, but explores more aspects of the human nature, and clearly comes from the pen of an author with certain life experience and maturity. We certainly need of those.

Is this even a bl???

This is a repeat on how trailers do be misleading!!!!
I am now going unto the seventh episode of this series and i am yet to see a spark or hint of romance between Q and sunshine
And is it me or am i the only one that recognizes that rain and sunshine can never get back together????
Like it is super obvious that everytime sunshine makes every possible person that kinda hinders their relationship disappear,) rain either forgets he exists, move on to another person, or never existed or become friends with benefits 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
Sunshine cant be this dumb to recognise this simple fact !!!
I guarantee most ppl who watch this is confused as to where the romance is and me too
I would mostly call this a bromance if anything
Like is Q and sunshine are going to end up together???
Because i am not seeing anything that hinting that they are going to be together
Man it is like i am walking down a long narrow path and it is never ending
Like it is so clear sunshine is not the brightest bulb everyone knows this and let me be real
The time when he erased rains ex boyfriend now tell me if this maths is mathsing
So when rain broke up with sunshine he told him that he was in a vulnerable moment when he met sunshine and he needed someone at the time
Now note, that the peron who made him vulnerable was rains ex
So common sense, when he erased rains ex
What do u think will happen ???
He would not know sunshine obviously 🙄🙄
Because rain would not go to mins bar where he would meet him and he would not vulnerable
At this point he is just randomly choosing ppl to erase
My advice to him (even Q said it himself) move on he is never going to go back to you get it through ur head!!! Just imagine he is doing all this stuff ( leaving potential dads without their child in ep 2, changing civilization ep 6 etc) just for one guy who does not like him anymore 😕😕😕😕

Deep, thought provoking, and performed with passion

This is a deep...thought provoking series performed with an artistic passion not often seen in BL series.

The cinematography from the first scene sets the stage for a dark and foreboding story.

It seems that many of the viewers found the end to be confusing. To be truthful, it was a mind bender but after connecting many hints that are given throughout the series, the ending is clear...and happy.

The first thing to establish is that the word Kyu (or the letter Q) is interchangeable with the word reaper in this series. The second thing to establish is that time is not linear...as we have been taught. The past and the future can be fluid...they can even exist at the same time.

It was Sunshine who was Sky's reaper. So...how did Sunshine become a reaper in a past time? When Sunshine started to erase people from the universe he became a killer. There is a scene in the flower shop where Tete tells Sky Kyu that Sunshine determined his own destiny by becoming a killer. Sunshine then wished to erase himself from THIS universe, that was almost like a suicide...and his existence as Sunshine the man ended and his life force became a reaper. Several times throughout the series Sky Kyu tells Sunshine that the past and the future are fluid. So it was entirely possible for the future Sunshine of the present to become Sky's reaper in the past.

On the night when Sky as a man had to choose between his father's death and the death of an anonymous person...and the wind blew out the candle of the anonymous person before Sky could choose...that candle represented Sunshine as a man from the future. And when the wind blew it out, that was the moment when Sunshine from the future had wished for the erasure of his own existence. Past and Future were fluid.

Immediately after the wind extinguished the flame of Sunshine's candle, Sky re-lit the candle, thereby undoing Sunshine's erasure of himself from this universe and setting him back on course with his human life. Sky didn't know Sunshine at that moment. At that moment in time, he didn't know who the candle represented. For him, it represented just another anonymous person whose fate was in his hands.

Sky later chooses to end his life in the river. His past actions of ending the lives of others by blowing out their candles along with his own suicide caused him to become a reaper. He didn't knowingly choose to become a reaper. After his death he was transformed into a reaper by a force of power...a power higher up in a chain of command of the forces that control the universe.

When it was apparent that a reaper would be sent to Sunshine (and we are never told why a reaper was sent to him), Sky Kyu requested to be assigned to Sunshine because he remembered Sunshine as his own reaper.

There were rules, to follow, though. And Sky Kyu could not overtly break those rules. He couldn't directly tell Sunshine about the events of the past...so he told them as a story. But he held firm in not telling Sunshine that in the past he was Sky's reaper. He also could not tell Sunshine that he was the one who brought Sunshine back from human erasure. There were rules...and he could only stretch them so far.

Moving forward.

By the 7th evening when Sunshine still had the opportunity to erase one more person, he knew already knew Sky Kyu's past. Sunshine had been witnessing Sky Kyu's endless suffering as a reaper and wanted to bring him peace. He loved Sky Kyu..and was actually falling in love him. He wanted to erase Sky Kyu's present existence as a reaper. He understood that Sky had died from suicide and that Sky's actions had caused him to become a reaper. Sunshine needed to know that Sky would never forget him no matter what. Once Sky Kyu promised that he would never forget Sunshine...no matter what...Sunshine was then hopeful that by erasing Sky Kyu as a reaper he might return Sky to some type of existence that did not have pain and suffering. He would miss Sky...but he was content with just knowing that he would not be forgotten.

And that brings us to Sunshine and Sky meeting on the airplane while boarding. Sky's existence as a reaper in the present is erased because his acts of killing and suicide were erased. Sky remembers everything except when he was Sunshine's reaper. The only place where Sky's existence as a reaper remains is in Sunshine's memory.

As for Sunshine, even though Sky Kyu's existence as a reaper was erased, Sunshine was still able to remember Sky as his own reaper because of the power of Love. Love conquers all. Sunshine remembers the man that he loves....Sky. Sunshine, though, had no recollection of himself as a reaper.

But...each remembers the other as a reaper. And that is why they both called each other Kyu when they recognized each other in the airplane.

Moving to the final ending. There are enough details known by each of them that together they will be able to place the pieces together...make sense of all that has happened... and move forward with their lives together as couple.

Although it was mind bending to connect the dots in order to understand the final episode, the ending itself was joyous...happy...incredible. And as seen in Sunshine's face...it was ecstatic.

What a plot...what a story. What a mind bender. I have never seen anything like it before. It was absolutely beautiful in every aspect from the cinematography to the lighting to the music to the interesting characters...and finally to the two incredibly handsome main leads.
