They tried to fit all tropes miserably

*happy ending* story

Don't get me wrong, the story is cute, the actors are handsome too. However there are a lot of discrepansies during the series that made the flow of the story kind of weird for me.

First of all, I did not know when Team leader nim fell in love. It's like he is soo rude in the episode and in the next he is already finding landlord cute.

The money issue is not solved, the parent-not-accepting a gay son/people prejudice trope is also not properly discussed. It's like they tried to solve it with just i-love-you-i-dont-care-about the world solution and then have a timejump to 8 months and end them with kissing.

I feel like the flow will be much greater if it was extended to a longer season.

Landlord nim's reason for leaving is alsooo soo shallow. I laughed at it so much. I also didnt know or notice how landlord nim fell in love. Its just like one moment and he is already in love?

The kiss was great tho.

This is a great series to watch if there are anybody present behind you, it's just a series with a tinge romance.

I would rewatch!

LOVED!! The only other KBL I’ve watched was Semantic Error and honestly I prefer this to it. The chemistry between the two was great, even MORE SO outside of filming (watch behinds the scenes of their kiss and their vlogs). I’m not ashamed to say that I regularly watch their kiss on YouTube.

I thought this drama was really enjoyable with good pacing; I don’t remember ever being bored or cringing. It was really funny but also had realism, it didn’t feel too camp or anything, I really believed in this couple and their development. They went from enemies to friends/good colleagues to lovers. And you really saw the transitions between each. For a drama that’s what, less than 4 hours total? That’s pretty impressive.

Some highlights include the piggy (if you know you know), Jiwoong shirtless and hot af in episode one, and Jiwoong’s character saying sarang 🥹 (don’t remember what his name was as I’m writing this 2 months after watching).

Roommates? Cute co-worker couple!

I went into watching "Roommates of Poongduck 304" sincerely hoping it will be the BL drama Kim Ji Woong & Yoon Seo Bin's duo deserves (their previous project together "Kissable Lips" is forgettable at best) and thankfully it turned out to be everything I was hoping for!

Story: 8/10
Love that we have an actual plot here. It's not the most complicated plot and it has some missed opportunities but overall I'm happy with what we got. The romance was built well, the side story with the office was also OK in execution, only thing is I wish the story didn't get that clichey at the end. It feels like the writer(s) had some ideas for the first half and the middle but then had nothing to the end and just went "eff it, they'll just do what leads do in romcoms" 😅

Acting/Cast: 10/10
Let's be honest, the main roles don't require much acting chops but Kim Ji Woong & Yoon Seo Bin perfectly demonstrated here they can do well and they can work well together. I think their chemistry was great! I liked the supporting cast also (despite them being underdeveloped and a little same-samey which was probably done because of the little number of episodes plus the focus being on the leads). All in all, the casting and acting feels just right to me.

Music: 5.5/10
I literally don't remember a single OST... I don't remember anything standing out as awful either so middle rating for me!

Rewatch Value: 6.5/10
I think I'll watch this again when I'm in the mood to watch a light, fluffy BL and don't see anything new on the market 👍

Overall: 7.5/10
It was worth watching for me because 1) of the amazing chemistry between Kim Ji Woong & Yoon Seo Bin's characters and 2) of the fact the actors got the redemption they needed coming off "Kissable Lips". Please don't watch that drama, just watch this one!

excellent kdrama with a bl spin

Honestly, when I heard JiWoong and Seobin were returning for a second outing in the BL world, I almost fell off my chair. Cobranding in Korea is unheard of in this manner, but to be honest, if it was going to be anyone, it'd be these two. Friends before they filmed Kissable Lips, their first offering (vampire college-based drama with a sad ending but showcases their chemistry and acting chops with a heavy plot) showed us their potential. In terms of originality, it was a similar enemies to lovers office based drama, however involved a chaebol and an intern, with the added complexity of a landlord/tenant dynamic that made for some comedic situations. The last few episodes introduced dramatic tension, the one nitpick I have being that Team Leader's past could have been explored earlier, giving more depth and explanation to his character and decisions, however at least we got something, which is more than I can say for others. Poongduck is an enjoyable, comfortable rewatch series as well, and fans of the pair got their happy ending in this drama. With a fan meeting coming, all signs are pointing to actual cobranding, and hopefully more series from JiWoong and Seobin in future. Their chemistry, raw acting talent and skill are too good not to see more of.

The beauty of two dudes falling in love - without any unnecessary drama or plot twist

I'm absolutely not the type to binge watch but this was so lighthearted, enjoyable, cute and funny that I just had to watch it within less than a day!
It's giving classic Korean rom-com (with lots of typical Korean comedy elements) but without any unnecessary drama or side stories. The drama knows what it wants and it's executed perfectly.

There's no new exciting trope, no mind-blowing plot-twist, just two guys slowly falling in love and becoming the happiness of each other's lives.

Their chemistry is amazing, I personally also really enjoyed the acting and fell in love with both characters. I laughed a lot, shed a tiny little tear because it just was so cute and went to sleep happily. That's all what I want from a short drama.

SO CONCISE AND FLUFFY

November 11, 2022

Roommates of Poongduck 304 just fills me up real good. MHHM MHHHM. I am so tired from o all these angsty shows and heavy weighted shows released this year that I am so happy this drama gives me the good amount of fluff I need. The story is literally your typical Kdrama plot line but I do not care cause the way the actors executed the plot is just so good.

I don't even have anything bad to say, for anyone who wants a short drama with good chemistry and cheesy romance. I heavily recommend this series! I literally screamed and paused so many times cause the feels I got were just hitting the right spots

Enjoyable, but don't know why

In a weird way, I enjoyed watching this series. It never gets deep. The plot is tropey and you feel like you are watching a Thai BL rather than Korean. Yet it is fun to watch. The subject matter was creative but they did not explore it enough. The actors seemed to have a better sense of who their characters were when they fought; but when they were not, the lines felt like they were merely reading them. Did not see a whole lot of chemistry between them. That might be due to a pretty standard script. If there is a Season 2, I hope they get deeper into who these two characters are on a deeper level.

Just what I was needing

OKAY. First things first, I'm really LOVE Ji Woong and Seo Bin, for real. I watched "sweet blood" and just get in love with Ji Woong, so when i discover that he was making a REAL vampire whit ✨protagonism✨ i was so excited and, again, fell in love with him and whith Seo Bin. And CMON they are so lovely together.
So, in resume, I'm just a little bit crazy for them. And, when I found out they're doing ANOTHER drama together i freack out.
I WAS SO RIGHT, this drama is really good, like, it's a cliché, BUT the acting is very delicius to watch, and I'm ever surprise whit the acting skills of Seo Bin, he's a such big actor, he can be cute , aggressive and bossy whit naturally. And the chemistry between them is INSANE (the kisses ( ≧Д≦)). Anyway, this drama is simple and perfect, it's clean, it's funny and it's lovely. I really enjoyed watching this and hope they keep getting more jobs (together or not). I'm losing my mind, so, yeah, just watch this (・∀・)

Very fun and enjoyable to watch!

You're looking for a simple yet funny and cute drama? This is the one
I simply loved this so much, its the kind of dramas i can watch so many times and never get bored of, its just exactly the type of humor i enjoy, its dumb but not too much and/or cringe
The actors did an amazing job, comedy is definitely their thing, i loved jaeyoon, hes just so cute and i love every single things he does haha (maybe im just biased bcs im head over hills for seobin)
Seobin and Jiwoong's chemistry is incredible, i already knew that since kissable lips (it was pretty much the only good thing about the drama lol, dont get me wrong i actually like kissable lips, its my guilty pleasure, but was it good? well... no) but now this show just made me want to see more of them being lovey dovey cause i just know i would enjoy a whole @ss episode of them just being cute together lol, their chemi is THAT good
Also i GOTTA mention the kissing scene, gosh they ate (literally lmaoo)

Anyways, i would most definitely recommand this BL!!
I enjoyed every seconds of it

Way better than Kissable Lips!!

This is SUCH AN UPGRADE from Kissable Lips!! I loved it!

I went into this with pretty low expectations because I was expecting something like Kissable Lips, but I was so wrong! It was so freaking good!
The chemistry between the leads is so much better than before, every episode had me excited for the next episodes, the music was soo cute and nice, the acting was also better than in Kissable Lips, etc

If you watched KL and want to see more of the main leads, Roommates of Poongduck 304 is the perfect drama for you!
Enjoy watching this cute, entertaining and awesome series, byeee!!

Pleasant Office Drama With Lovable Characters.

This is one of those regular office romance dramas along with a lot of cuteness and stupidity thrown in the same plate. However, I immensely enjoyed this and its definitely one of the better short series out there. I'm not talking from the "BL" point of view. Rather from a regular drama objective.

When the spoilt heir of a famous company, Ho Joon, is forced to rely upon himself after causing troubles for his father, he has no options but to do as told. His stupid persistence and narcissism irks his new landlord, Seo Jae Yoon. However, Jae Yoon finds himself in a difficult situation when he finds out that the tenant whom he was trying to evict is his newly appointed Team Leader.

The runtime (more than 25 or 30 minutes for some episodes) and storyline was adequate enough to portray the emotional growth between the characters and how both of them slowly begin to understand their positives and the short comings. I was pleasantly surprised by the leading actors' performance here since in their last drama, their characters were not as voluble (particularly Kim Ji Woong, he was a delight to watch in this one).
The chemistry was natural and I particularly liked how everyone were just 'patient'. None of them were annoying or over the top. Both Ho Joon and Jae Yoon were intelligent in their own ways.
Nothing was rushed. And some scenes were genuinely comedic without trying too hard. One thing I will definitely not forget is when Ho Joon went, "How come he becomes stupid in Poongdeok Villa?" And then we have Jae Yoon skeptically ask in the next episode, "Are you a genius?"

I don't think I'll feel the same or whether I'll be able to rewatch it, but it's a satisfying watch, provided that you view it as a regular KDrama and not purposefully keep expectations.
