unnecessary things added just for shock value + MAJOR SPOILERS

I will preface this by saying this is my first time writing a review.

I just had to write because of how upsetting/disappointing this drama was. The concept of the storyline was quite interesting, but as the story progressed, I felt it just headed downwards. Changing a perfectly good, likable character to being the true evil culprit was just plain stupid. I liked the idea of him feeling guilty because he chose to save his older brother versus the male lead's younger brother. Still, of course, the writers decided to go in a completely different way to add shock value which honestly made the drama not as good.

Can't also forget the MAJOR SPOILER

The female lead's dad dying at the end and him being the last ghost she can see made me so infuriated; adding unnecessary misery that doesn't add to the storyline.

One last thing I didn't understand is why having a character that's supposedly an important friend of the female lead is practically never even there. Like, what's the point of even having her if she's never there? I genuinely don't understand what the writers of this series were trying to do. Shock value or plot twists sometimes don't add anything to the story if they can't be executed correctly!

It's an Underrated Watch

So 2022 has been a disappointing year with most kdramas suffice it to say are a resounding 'meh'.

The plots are weak
The execution is poor
And the acting ........ well the actors tried their best with what they were given to work with.

Well what makes May I Help You better than other you ask?
It's not much better to be honest. The writing is pretty weak and the OSTs are okay I guess. So why is this an underrated watch?

Because Hyeri. This is one of her best performances since Reply 1988. The emotional connection that she achieves with her clients tugs on the heart strings causing one to become emotionally invested. Her Co-star also lends a sense of gravity to her purpose which give viewers a cathartic release when dealing with death and mourning.

Adding some leviatity and comedic relief are the uncles. Both the leads' uncles really keep us in check so that we don't delve into sorrow as we sympathize with clients. Their humour is light and well timed and you can't help but enjoy watching them root for the happiness of leads.

The drama has a strong start and progresses well. I even liked the villain plot line but what made this drama cheap was the ending. It was so unnecessary but I guess the writer had no better ideas I suppose (And you can see it coming a mile away because it's that predictable). Episodes 1 - 14 are better than most dramas this year. So If you want a truly heartfelt performance this is drama I'd recommend to you.

Well written story with wonderful characters.

I usually don't watch dramas as they air, I prefer to binge them. This one had me hooked, the story builds, you get more invested in the characters as the show progresses, mysteries are revealed and unraveled culminating in a beautiful story of the interconnectedness of humanity.
The show just finished, but to the people who stopped early, stick with it, as you learn more about the characters and their lives, you get more an more invested in the story. Before you know it, you're aching for the next episode.
There are moments that will make you laugh, moments that will make you cry, and moments that will lift your heart. The actors do a fantastic job bringing the characters to life, even the "ghost of the week" pulls you in. Overall it's a great show.
I rated it for low re-watchability because it make me cry so much I'm not emotionally ready to think about watching it again yet.

Twenty One or Twenty Five

Fantasy, romance and Hye Ri, of course I was in. The first episodes I felt that we concentrated too much on personal matters, not much on fantasy part. Was the fantasy here to just serve the romance. Last episode was complete opposite, we had the why of the fantasy part, and man, that was really something in dramaland, detailed, explained and logical, that changed from what I had lacked in Bulgasal for example (no I didn't forgive you yet, writers), I found myself wanting more cheesiness months later, I know, and the final episode would have been perfect.
Let's talk about some actors, I've seen Seo Hae An in An another drama and It was like he was another person, he mastered his role very well, the accent, the acting, chapeau bas !
Aaah and Tae Hee's uncle oh my god, I've seen him a long time ago, in a drama that I hated, Que Sera Sera, more than a decade later, I laughed so much with this role, he was not the poor SML anymore, he and Dong Joo's uncle, were almost my favourite pairing of the show. I let it go, but I wasn't happy with Chung Ha's closure, imagine, after what happened to Dong Joo in the last episode, she would have broke up with Tae Hee, I'm sorry, I can understand, but Tae Hee was Chung Ha's whole world, I just imagine how it was painful being left after 10 years of happiness, I just think he was so damaged, but it must have been very tough for her.
The journey of watching this drama, wasn't exceptional but it has been fun and a lot of tears on the finale.

Feel good drama

One of the underrated drama that I watched, I don't know why is everyone not talk abou this drama qhen in fact it has the most heartwarming one. Yes I admit the reason why I didn't watched it before because its trailer didn't capture my attention to watched it because its too serious for me. Yes it is very serious but you will be attracted by its story.
If you hate Lee Jun Young in Brave Citizen and Impossible Heir you will loved him here. I've loved Hyeri as an comedian actess but she's more serious here but there is also some comedic act.
I watched it very timely during Holy Week there are lots of lessons and realizationp. Dong Joo has the power to see and grant the last wish of dead people before they crossed through eternal life. She was task with 21 spirits never wound have thought that her last spirit is someone that is close in her heart. Tae Hee never leaves her to guide her and be strong for her.
Very good drama you will learn so much about forgiveness. There are lots of realizations too.

I can't judge ..I just know I have my favorite actress and other very talented actors here. Also the story plot was good. I loved it overall.
Just so you know, it has a major plot twist in the middle, if you're smart enough you can guess it beforehand. Hats off to The one who carried out the twist. A great actor really. Also , all the cases the fl encountered with were unique but relatable. I don't have anything to complain so I just gave 10/10 to everything hehe.
oh yeah.. I am slightly disappointed cause there were only 1 or 2 kiss scenes. We could've gotten more even if they were small sweet pecks u know, how they do in a healthy relationship. Idk, maybe it's me to think like that.

VERY GREAT CHEMISTRY, but storyline was meh

I have mixed feelings about this drama. On one hand, it was fun to watch, and the chemistry between the main leads was undeniable. However, the show would have been stronger if it focused on either the murder mystery or the love triangle. Personally, the ex-girlfriend storyline felt unnecessary and detracted from the main plot.

The episodes followed a pattern where our female lead, as a funeral director, dealt with various deaths. While it was heartwarming to see the deceased being sent off with respect, the repetition in every episode made it a bit predictable and, over time, a little dull.

I did cry at the end tho…

One thing I did enjoy very much was the comedy brought by the uncles. They were so unserious, which added a much-needed playful element to the series. Also, I loved how they shipped and adored our main couple.

Not Good Enough

Korean Drama " May I Help You " is a fantasy romantic comedy.

The story has some lightness to it, even though it handles more sensitive matters as well as some emotional cases. Unfortunately, the pacing of the story is all over the place, failing to introduce properly the story in the first episodes and then getting slower and slower towards the ending.

In addition, the main plot was boring. The love story was predictable and the chemistry just okay, which didn't aid to the romance at all. The friendship was nice though.

Finally, the performances were all enjoyable and decent from everyone in the cast.

So, overall, two out of ten.

It the perfect example of pathetic ML

Honestly, the drama started with a good note and story was also interesting until we find out about the ex of ML. Lol, he left her ex just because his brother died. What the hell is this, you were the one who asked your brother to bring the ring not her. So why you should leave her and don't tell he. He left her and started his pathetic life without caring about anyone else. and when he get to know about the SML that he is killer he wanted to get him all the punishment. So what should be your punishment for leaving your gf without any reason. I really don't like the plot twist at the end. Either they should have portrayed the SML as a bad guy from the start or shouldn't have turned him to an evil guy in one go.
The ML lack humanity he only think about himself. I also don't like FL gesture when the SML asked for forgiveness for his brother act and she turned a blind eye like he had murdered the ML little brother.
I think the writer was drunk when writing last episodes. She didn't realized what she wrote in the end.

Great Premise and Promise not delivered Upon

So you've read the summary it sounds great. You start watching and it is great, its fantastic, the FLs personality combined with her gift is endearing. The ghosts who come to visit have a lovely assortment of poignant and bittersweet tales. The ML is i troduced hes cute the chemistry is great ah thus is just great........but then of course there will be more. What "more" we get is unfortunately a total shift of focus from the FL and her stories to the ML, his tragic past, complete with murder mystery, his relationships and to a lesser extent his relationship with FL. Her story even the ghosts all play 2nd fiddle to the MLs story(s) from here on out and suddenly we have a mish mash of worn out tropes character assination and a draggy contrived resolutions Such a pity. It really lost its way.

One aspect of the story that essentially ruined it for me was the MLs back story with his ex. It was a really poor inresolved plot line that really just made the ML come across as a heartless horrible guy and his lack of any kind of empathy toward her any kind of remorse of how he treated her, he has no sympathy about how their relationship ended. It diminished him and the FL so much I couldnt root for them after that. In Ep 14 or 15 the ex gf initiates a meeting with him where she graciously accepts they are over and attempts to leave on goid terms. He just sits there saying nothing it is pathetic weak and cowardly. That waz the last straw I just dropoed it their and then because after that I could nit care for him or the FL at all. Again such bad writing ran through the drama.

Enjoyable but with questionable plot-developments

First of all, i had very low expectations before watching this drama. That's where it surprised me. I especially enjoyed the middle of the Drama (Ep. 4-10). I actually thought this drama would turn out to be not my taste or to be bad. But i found myself really invested. At the beginning I thought of it as a feel-good Drama with some comedic elements, which i liked. It still had its meaningful moments. It's great to watch as an in-between Drama or if you're bored.

What i liked:
- Relationship development between the two leads-> I didn't mind the ex coming back because it was obvious that he already liked dong joo. It added a bit of drama to their romance and i was in the mood for it. I liked the romance in this drama up until ep 11. After that, i was somewhat bored (or it's more like that other plotlines bothered me, causing a loss of interest)
-Dong Joo's Father
-That the Drama had some Comedy (but where is the comedy as the episodes passed?)
- Yoo So Ra and Kim Il Sub

Where it went wrong:
- It felt like the tone of the drama changed with the passing of the episodes. I don't know why and it's hard to pinpoint, but it felt different. The following points could have played a part in this change
-Sometimes i did not understand the maleleads choices (Everyone's human, i can see past that)
-Why turn a friend into a bad guy and an enemy? I HATE this trope. Why would someone decide to write this? Make it make sense. If you do write this, please write it properly. Yes, i was surprised but to write a friend-betrayal, just to shock the viewer is not writing at its best. Yes i do sometimes like unnecessary drama in a Kdrama but not this type. It's a matter of taste and this development somehow gives me trust issues.
- Just introducing persons to let them die. The last deaths felt highly fabricated and they left me feeling nothing. Don't overdo it. I did not mind it at the beginning and middle of the drama. But everything felt wrong towards the end.
- The Father's death? NONSENSE. Nonsense if you ask me. Why kill him off? And so late. They wrapped up his death in only one episode. It's still the mainleads father after all, why brush it off so fast? The Writer probably wanted a meaningful death to be Dong Joos last person, but it still rubbed me the wrong way. Even the way he died...

After all these negative points why would i still give it 6.5 Stars (in my rating system = good)? I still enjoyed it the majority of the time and since i had low expectations i was positively surprised. I liked the tone of the drama (even though not towards the end). I had a good time. Can you compare it to the other dramas i watched lately (like D.P)? Of course not.
Not a bad drama. But i can understand if others rate this drama lower than me. It's always a matter of taste. I acknowledge the negative aspects and still enjoyed it more than i thought i would.
