✅In order to overcome the five trials that are required to remove the curse, a bond to the closest kin is needed - Marriage to FL (Xin Mei) [ep1]

Five trials in order to remove curse and become human:

✅the skin must be peeled off - mother of MC left him in blazing flames which burned off MCs skin [explained in ep 22 time 32:50]. The trial was overcome without FL as MCs mother was still alive.

✅all body flesh must be shed - (death by thousand cuts) [ep2]

✅all bones must be replaced - exchange with ML's disciple Su Tai Ji in Chongling valley [ep14]

✅all blood must be exchanged - via Sunblock Banner Artifact [ep 30] For sacrificing the essece/original blood this artifact temporarely transfers ones body status back to a certain body state in time. ML ofc transfers his body status to a time he still had all his war ghost powers to fight a whole sect of. ML "reserved" a little of his original blood for a second use of the Sunblock Banner but this time he will be a lot weaker after using it and risks a severe backlash. (ep 34 time 29:20)

✅the heart must be gouged out - ending ep 36 and start of ep 37 the procedure of changing MLs heart start, procedure ep 37 time 20:10 borrowing the power of the crimson flame from the Lantern Dragon Plant to seal three of six apertures to transform a war ghost heart into a mortals heart. TWIST: ML stops this procedure and prays to the War Ghost Clan Ancestor in order to gain the war ghost powers back in order to protect FM and friends. (ep 38 time 7:30) To gain the power all MLs memories are gone. (not again this amnesia trope 🙄) ML appears as full fledged war ghost to fight for FL ep 38 time 35:20. The saved FL enters the heavenly realm to lift the curse on all war ghosts (ep 39 time 8:38) with help of Jin Lun and A Sheng(Junior Sister) who entered Godhod, FL lifts the curse (indirectly) on all war demons (ep 39 time 11:50)

plans to have his heart transformed in Chongling Valley (ep31 time 40:07)

Consequences:

• no rest: after MCs skin was burned and renewed as a child, he was able to sleep [explained ep22]

• sees no colors: after renewing the flesh ML starts to see colors. First FLs red dress [red - ep5] [blue/indigo ep6][All colors - ep 22 time 29:00(coloring a painting)]

• feels no pain: after the bone exchange ML will feel pain as the stone marrow within the war ghosts bones prevent all pain sensation, ergo if they are exchanged by human bones ML will feel pain as every comon human does

• everything tastes rotten: after the blood exchange ML will have normal taste (explained by SuTaiJi in ep 15, 25:20), blood sacrificed to the sun block banner artifact for temporarely getting war ghost powers back (ep 30 time 31:35), after ML regains his "normal" taste he loves to eat (ep 31 time 03:14, 44:34...etc)

• hot-blooded mania: after heard gouged out (not happened as curse lifted by FL)

Many people seem to dislike the idea of Ml becoming a human. From the mighty cursed half war ghost half human to a simple human. He never was the full-fledged and mighty war ghost to begin with. As shown in ep 18 his mother said to him " You monster-neither human nor ghost-you should just die here!" oc it was in context of the trope "I hurt you in order you overcome the separation easier".(She died or at least left ML thereafter). He is a half-blood. So it is relateable that ML strifes to become a full-blooded human despite getting weaker. Why not the mighty war ghost? There is no way to be a full blooded war ghost... There is only one way for him to belong to an full-fledged linage. The curse-free human linage...

His realm will drop but he will still have cultivator realms [ep 15, 26:45 SuTaiJi prepared the golden liquid for ML, before his death, and this will elevate his cultivator realm]

Do we know why the ML wants to become human? He will no longer be invincible. He didn’t do it to be with FL. He didn’t even know her when he decided to do this. There’s hell to be paid when she finds out he erased her memory.

Sorry, TomVoMD, real life happened, I was not able to reply in time. His motives are allready explained above and that was proven right in episode 22 time ca 31:45. Here he also explained that he has a diffent view then his peers of power. He thinks "Power is poison".
