Luo Zi Shang remembers Yu Ru as the little girl who lived next door to him growing up and treated him with kindness after becoming homeless due to the fire. Though Yu Ru has vague recollections of a little boy as her neighbor, she doesn’t connect him to Zi Shang. Jiu Si gives Yu Ru a memorable birthday celebration, but Yangzhou is soon in chaos when Commissioner Wang takes over the city.

The episode is a very nice one with a lot of backstory being unfolded. I'd just like to state that for those not expecting it, the cockfighting scene is a bit much.

Great celebrations, sad ending. The fireworks are curtesy of a very misguided man who still has rocks in his head from an unhappy childhood. He's still fixated on a little girl, but everyone else has to pay. For what, I'm not sure.

Watching this episode reminded me why I love Bai Jingting so much. His acting skills are outstanding. He has the ability to make the characters he portrays come to life. This episode was packed full of surprises that make you want to smile. Although it is the turning point. It displays a growth of love as it is the calm before the storm. It is definitely worth the watch.
