Jiu Si discovers where Sun He, Minister Liu’s subordinate, is hiding. He is able to get a confession from him and uses it to coerce Minister Liu to testify against all the corrupt officials. However, Jiu Si is framed for the death of Minister Liu and all the “evidence” points to him as the murderer. He is imprisoned and works with Yu Ru to find out who the real murderer is. So, the Fan Yu manipulation by Lou Zi Shang is a bit over-the-top

I'm mean, the pulled-out-of-nowhere magical drugs that precisely manage someone's moods and behavior are silly magic in an otherwise mostly grounded drama. I guess we just have to accept it as a plot element but it's frankly kinda comical and the show kinda waivers in credibility pretty much whenever Fan Yu is on-screen. Feels like they could have done this a lot better. Not sure I want to blame the actor entirely. The scripted lines of his character are silly already and would probably seem comical regardless of the actor.
